Abstract

Abstract

We studied the Lotka Volterra predator-prey model with linear harvesting of prey and predators. We found that there are 3 equilibrium points, namely the point of extinction of the two species, the point of extinction of predators and the point of coexistence of both species, predator and prey. The stability and existence of the three points depend on the parameter values in the model. We found that the populations of both species were sustainable if the growth rate of the predators was greater than the mortality and yield rates of the predators. Overharvesting led to the extinction of both species. We also perform numerical simulations using the Python programming language to see the system behavior graphically

Abstract

Background: The BPJS Referral Program (PRB) is intended for patients with stable chronic diseases who require long-term care at FKTP. The frequency of PRB is influenced by patient satisfaction with the referral hospital's services. Objective: to analyze the effect of satisfaction with outpatient services at Sarkies Asyiyah Kudus Hospital on the frequency of BPJS PRB utilization. Method: A correlational analytical study with a quantitative approach was conducted on 30 outpatient respondents participating in BPJS at Sarkies Aisyiyah Kudus Hospital who were selected by Quota Sampling from 14 polyclinics. The research instrument was a patient satisfaction questionnaire based on five dimensions of SERVQUAL (Tangible, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, Empathy). Data analysis used descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Spearman correlation, and ordinal logistic regression. Results: All service quality dimensions are in the good–very good category. Spearman's test showed a significant positive relationship between patient satisfaction and the frequency of reverse referrals (p < 0.01) with the largest contribution being Tangible (ρ = 0.884). Ordinal logistic regression produced a Nagelkerke R-Square of 0.97, confirming that satisfaction explains 97% of the variation in reverse referrals. The Tangible dimension has a significant effect (p = 0.026), while the other dimensions are not significant. Conclusion: Outpatient satisfaction influences the frequency of BPJS PRB with the Tangible dimension as the dominant factor. Improvement of physical facilities and service comfort needs to be prioritized to support the effectiveness of the referral system.

Abstract

The price of red chili in Jepara Regency, Central Java, shows high and nonlinear fluctuations due to seasonal factors, weather, and supply dynamics. This instability affects food inflation as well as the income of farmers and traders. This study aims to build a prediction model for red chili prices in Jepara Regency using the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) method and compare its performance with the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) method. The data used are weekly red chili prices from January 2020 to December 2025, obtained from the official hargajateng.org website. The research steps include data preprocessing, normalization using Min-Max Scaling, forming time series data with a sliding window, training the LSTM model using the Adam optimizer, Mean Squared Error (MSE) as the loss function, a maximum of 200 epochs, batch size of 8, and applying EarlyStopping to get the best model. Performance evaluation was done using Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The study results show that the LSTM model can follow chili price change patterns well, producing an RMSE of 16,707.02, an MAE of 12,348.54, and a MAPE of 19.31% on the testing data. Additionally, the 16-week forecasting results give an idea of the price trend in the upcoming period. Compared to the ARIMA model, which produced an RMSE of 20,992.15, an MAE of 13,867.26, and a MAPE of 22.70%, the LSTM model shows better prediction performance with lower error rates. The study indicates that the LSTM method is more effective in modeling nonlinear patterns in red chili price data compared to the ARIMA method.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem in Indonesia. Improving adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes through school-based health education is essential to support TB prevention efforts. This study aimed to assess changes in knowledge and attitudes toward pulmonary tuberculosis following an audiovisual-based health education intervention. A quantitative pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted among 103 Grade XI students in a senior high school in Kudus Regency, Central Java. Data were collected using structured questionnaires. Normality was assessed prior to analysis; as most variables violated the normality assumption (p < 0.05), the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was used as the primary statistical method, while the paired t-test was performed as a supplementary comparison analysis. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores from a median of 26 to 28 (Z = –4.865, p < 0.001, r = 0.48) and a significant improvement in attitude scores (Z = –7.383, p < 0.001, r = 0.73). The paired t-test produced consistent results, with a mean increase of 1.835 points in knowledge (95% CI: 1.177–2.493; Cohen’s d = 0.545) and 3.417 points in attitudes (95% CI: 2.717–4.118; Cohen’s d = 0.954). Normalized gain analysis indicated that improvement in knowledge was categorized as low, whereas improvement in attitudes reached the medium category. In conclusion, audiovisual-based health education was associated with positive changes in adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes regarding pulmonary tuberculosis. However, because the study was conducted in a single school using a pre-experimental design, the findings should be generalized with caution. Further controlled studies involving more diverse populations are recommended.

Abstract

This study uses a three-compartment SIR model to describe the spread of tuberculosis in Central Java. Changes in individuals who are detected, recover, die naturally, and die from tuberculosis affect disease transmission. Numerical simulations are used to validate the analytical results and identify the key parameters that contribute most to disease transmission among susceptible, infected, quarantined, and recovered individuals. The numerical method used is the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method. Using this method, a quantitative description of the numbers of susceptible, infected, and recovered individuals is obtained, which can assist the Central Java Health Office in efforts to prevent and control the spread of tuberculosis. The SIR model obtained from the parameter determination is then solved using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method. The results obtained using data from 2021–2023 show initial values of 111,120,397 for Susceptible, 157,024 for Infected, and 38,452 for Recovered, with a birth rate parameter of 0.013043, a natural mortality rate of 0.001287, a tuberculosis mortality rate of 0.041376, a transmission rate from Susceptible to Infected of 0.001411, and a recovery rate from Infected to Recovered of 0.24488 individuals. In the 50th year, there are 35,073,325 Susceptible individuals, the number of Infected individuals is 0.04, and the number of Recovered individuals is 74,774. The number of tuberculosis infection cases decreases from year to year.
