Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PjBL) serves as a robust pedagogical framework to engage students in solving real-world contextual problems through empirical evidence and collaborative innovation. This study seeks to analyze the creativity of prospective chemistry teacher students in voltaic cell learning through the implementation of PjBL using local organic resources. By adopting a mixed methods design method with a repeated measures design, the study involved 10 prospective chemistry teachers enrolled in the Basic Chemistry 2 course at Universitas Cenderawasih, Jayapura, Indonesia. Research instruments included observation rating scales for creativity, pre-test and post-test assessments for conceptual mastery, and a Likert-scale perception survey to evaluate professional motivation. The results demonstrated a significant positive impact across all measured dimensions. An analysis of student creativity showed that 60% of students were "creative," 30% were "very creative," and 10% were "quite creative," especially when it came to how fluently and originally they used local plant. Furthermore, a high-category Normalized Gain (N-gain) of 0.76 validated pedagogical effectiveness, indicating a substantial increase in conceptual mastery of electrochemical principles. Technical analysis confirmed that indigenous resources, such as local lime, provided stable voltage suitable for series circuit engineering to power electronic loads. Finally, the perception survey showed a very high score (4.95/5.00) for professional intent, reflecting a strong motivation to replicate this "living laboratory" model in future careers. This ethnochemistry-based PjBL approach effectively transforms local environments into authentic scientific laboratories, fostering resourceful, innovative, and culturally responsive science educators in resource-constrained regions

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research was to analysis the level of emotional intelligence of on the emotions of sadness, shame and love in learning chemistry and the factors that influence the emotional intelligence of students in learning chemistry. Data collection was carried out by taking the final semester exam scores (UAS) of chemistry lessons obtained from the documentation of 30 students of class XI-1 SMA Sentani in the odd semester of the 2023/2024 school year and filling out a questionnaire list consisting of 38 statement items regarding the emotional intelligence of students. The results showed that the value of students' emotional intelligence in chemistry learning was mostly in the sufficient category with an average score of 76.67%. While the percentage of the highest chemistry UAS scores in students in the class is in the less category with a total of 56.67%. Analysis on the level of emotional intelligence found that students of class XI-1 SMA Sentani have emotional intelligence on the emotions of sadness, shame, and love. Judging from the results of the emotional value obtained, namely the emotion of sadness as much as 73.09, the emotion of shame as much as 69.12, and love as much as 64.21. Factors that affect emotional intelligence in learning chemistry consisted of internal factors and external factors. Internal factors consisted of factors of desire/willingness (interest) in learning and intellectual intelligence. External factors are factors of teachers, friends, class conditions, and situations and forms.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze factors that support and hinder chemistry learning on atomic structure material in class XI(C). research method used is a qualitative descriptive method by describing the data obtained from test results and correlating them with IQ, aptitude, and interest tests. techniques used for data collection are observation, interviews, test questions, and documentation.Test instrument consists 42 items form multiple-choice questions that are arranged based on content validity and have been validated by experts.results obtained show that students with high IQ will also achieve high learning outcomes, namely, those with an IQ 126 achieve a learning result 95, and about 5.4% students with an IQ 117 achieve a learning result 85. Conversely, those with low intelligence will have low learning outcomes, as evidenced by 8.2% students having an IQ 62. having an IQ 62. Obtaining learning outcomes scores ranging from 54 to 58, despite some deviations, indicates that an increase in students' intelligence levels will always be accompanied by increase in learning outcomes.Talent affecting students' learning outcomes, namely scholastic talent, shows average score 17.5 learning outcomes 83, abstract thinking has average score 45 and achieves learning outcomes 83, and clerical speed accuracy has average score 42.5 with learning outcomes 83, while talents that hinder learning scholastic talent, abstract thinking, clerical speed and accuracy, as these will result in low ability scores low learning outcomes if their talent levels are low. Interest needed for learning chemistry on the topic atomic structure includes a science interest and a personal social interest.
