Abstract

FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D Printer tool training to support Teaching Factory (TEFA) in SMK aims to improve technical skills and students' readiness to face the challenges of industry 4.0. 3D printing technology has become an important innovation in the manufacturing world, which allows the creation of three-dimensional objects quickly and precisely. Therefore, mastery of this technology is very important for SMK, especially those involved in the TEFA program. This community service activity was carried out to provide practical training to teachers on how to operate an FDM 3D Printer, as well as understand the design and production process using three-dimensional printing technology. The training includes basic theory on how the FDM 3D Printer machine works, CAD programming, and steps in making prototypes and products using 3D printing. Through this training, it is hoped that Dian Kirana Sragen Vocational School can further strengthen the TEFA concept by providing facilities and tools that comply with industry standards. It is hoped that SMK Dian Kirana Sragen teachers can be better prepared to face the increasingly developing industrial world. The training was held through a combination of theory and direct practice methods, with the aim of providing a comprehensive understanding to participants. The results of this activity provide a real contribution to improving the quality of vocational education and strengthening the relationship between the world of education and the world of industry through TEFA products.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the performance of oil-water separation using a hydrocyclone-bubble generator. The bubble generator used was an ejector type to make it easier to suck in atmospheric air. The research was carried out by injecting an oil-water mixture through a bubble generator before entering the hydrocyclone system. The air flow injected into the bubble generator was varied from 0.1-1.5 lpm. From experimental studies, it was found that as the air flow increased, the split ratio also increased. The pressure drop at the overflow increases gently while the underflow pressure drop increases significantly along with increasing input air flow. The greater the input air flow, the more significant the difference in underflow and overflow pressure drop. It has implications for a larger pressure drop ratio. The greater the air flow, the greater the overflow efficiency decreases, and the underflow efficiency increases. The highest efficiency in overflow is 87.77%.

Abstract

Casting is the process of manufacturing molten metal with a mold to produce a shape close to the original shape. The commonly used molding sand is mountain sand, river sand and silica sand. This research aims to analyze defects and tensile test results of castings with various types of sand (beach sand and silica sand) and types of aluminum (ADC 12 aluminum and aluminum from waste cans). The casting method used is traditional sand blasting. The results show defects in the form of surface hardness, rat tails, shrinkage cavities, and pinholes. The tensile test showed that the highest Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) value was obtained from a mixture of Al ADC 12 with beach sand with an average UTS value of 172.44 MPa.

Abstract

Abstract

Currently, fin and tube heat exchangers are widely used in various engineering applications, including modern heat exchangers, automotive radiators, and Air Conditioning (AC) systems such as evaporators, and condensers. Enhancing their performance necessitates innovative designs, advanced application, and optimizes geometries to improve heat transfer efficiency. This study investigates the effect of box and polygon geometries on fluid flow and heat transfer in a split Air Conditioner (AC) fin and tube heat exchanger using simulation software. The research examines two tube arrangement-inline and staggered-across different fluid velocities (0.5 m/s, 1 m/s, 1.5 m/s, and 2.5 m/s) and heat flux values (100 W/m2 , 125 W/m2, 125 W/m2, and 150 W/m2 ). The numerical study revealed that the best thermal and hydraulic performance of the fin and tube heat exchanger, based on geometry variations between box and polygon tubes, was achieved with the polygon tube geometry, which resulted in a lower temperature around 23.41°C. This temperature confirmed an increase in heat transfer coefficient by approximately 5% and Nusselt number by about 3%. The best performance overall, considering both thermal and hydraulic aspects, was observed in the inline arrangement, especially for the polygon tube, which resulted in a lower temperature of around 26.38°C. This confirmed an improvement in the heat transfer coefficient by about 4% and the Nusselt number by 2.5%.
