Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing farmers’ decisions to sell beef cattle in Deli Serdang Regency, Indonesia, using a logistic regression approach. The research was conducted in two sub-districts—Pancur Batu and Hamparan Perak—between November 2024 and January 2025. A purposive sampling method was used to define the target population, while snowball sampling recruited 40 respondents, beginning with four initial informants. Both qualitative insights and quantitative logit modeling were employed to analyze the data. Findings indicate that six independent variables collectively explain 42% of the variance in selling decisions. Partially, perceived cattle prices and religious festive moments significantly influence sales behavior. Higher price perception increases the likelihood of selling, whereas factors such as cattle quality, household needs, and herd size tend to discourage it—highlighting the role of livestock as both economic buffer and cultural asset. This study contributes novel insights by integrating cultural values with economic rationality in modeling farmers’ decision-making. It underscores the importance of recognizing localized socio-economic dimensions in shaping agrarian policy, livestock trade strategies, and evidence-based rural development programs. The study recommends that future research on rural economic behavior explicitly incorporate cultural variables as critical determinants in agricultural decision-making processes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the changes in the social structure of the community in Nagari Mandeh, Mandeh Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province. Over the past decade, this nagari has undergone significant social transformation, particularly in terms of livelihood and social stratification. The main shift has occurred from traditional economic sectors such as agriculture, plantations, forestry, and fisheries toward tourism and service sectors, driven by the development of natural potential and infrastructure improvements. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving six purposively selected informants. The findings show that the people of Nagari Mandeh have been able to adapt to these changes through increased income, social mobility, and quality of life. The application of Talcott Parsons’ AGIL theory indicates that the four functions of the social system—Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency—have been effectively implemented. As a result, the transformation of the social structure in Nagari Mandeh has proceeded in a balanced manner without eroding local cultural identity. These findings demonstrate that social transformation, when managed inclusively and adaptively, can lead to prosperity and sustainability for traditional communities.

Abstract

Inequality in economic growth across regions often reflects structural imbalances and the limited effectiveness of current development policies. Thus, it is essential to investigate the factors that influence regional growth dynamics. Economic growth is defined as the change in income and the production of goods and services within a specific region or country over a designated period. The varying levels of economic growth, measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), are expressed at constant prices during a defined timeframe. This research aims to analyze the impact of Profit-Sharing Funds (DBH), labor, and Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) on economic growth in East Java. The analysis employs Geographically Weighted Panel Regression (GWPR) to assess how each independent variable influences the dependent variable across various districts and cities in East Java. The findings reveal three regional classifications. The first classification includes regions where none of the predictor variables significantly affect economic growth, which applies to 37 districts including Trenggalek. The second classification identifies areas where LABOR does not serve as a significant predictor variable in the same 37 districts and cities across East Java. Finally, the third classification highlights regions where Profit Sharing Funds (DBH) are significantly relevant to economic growth, with the exception of Trenggalek. Additionally, Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) is identified as a significant variable for economic growth in the districts of Lumajang, Jember, Bondowoso, Situbondo, Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Sidoarjo, as well as Probolinggo City and Pasuruan.

Abstract

The Growth of the e-commerce industry has resulted in a massive volume of transaction data, necessitating effective data analysis techniques to extract customer purchasing patterns. The Frequent Pattern Growth (FP-Growth) algorithm is one of the data mining methods that can be used to identify frequently occurring purchase patterns without explicitly generating candidate itemsets. This study aims to implement and evaluate the performance of the FP-Growth algorithm in analyzing e-commerce transaction data to identify recurring shopping patterns. The research methodology includes transaction data collection, data preprocessing, FP-Growth algorithm implementation, and result analysis. This study utilizes an e-commerce transaction dataset from an online retail store based in the United Kingdom, comprising 541,909 transaction records. The research findings indicate that the FP-Growth algorithm is efficient in identifying frequently occurring transaction patterns. Using a support threshold of 1% and a confidence level of 80%, 13 association rules were discovered, demonstrating relationships between frequently co-purchased products. Further analysis shows that these findings can be leveraged by e-commerce businesses to develop marketing strategies based on product recommendations. In conclusion, the FP-Growth algorithm is an effective approach for extracting purchasing patterns from large-scale e-commerce transaction data.

Abstract

Abstract

Critical thinking skills of each student significantly influence their cognitive development and adaptability. However, many students still exhibit low levels of critical thinking, which requires immediate attention. This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills through the implementation of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by Pop-Up Book media in Grade X Phase Eat SMAN 1 Padang. This research is classroom action research (CAR). The instructional interventions were delivered by the teacher or conducted by students under the teacher's guidance. The teacher reported on students' learning processes, observed student behavior and engagement, analyzed the outcomes, recorded findings, facilitated peer discussions, and guided class presentations. The classroom action research followed a cyclical model consisting of four main stages: action planning (pre-intervention), action implementation, observation, and reflection. This study was conducted over two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two sessions. Each cycle included the same four phases: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. In the first cycle, despite some challenges, the implemented learning model demonstrated visible progress. The class average score increased from 47.19 in the pretest to 77.09 after the first cycle, and further improved to 80 in the second cycle. These results indicate that the Problem-Based Learning model supported by Pop-Up Book media had a positive impact on students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. Overall, the study concludes that the application of Problem-Based Learning supported by Pop-Up Book media effectively enhanced students' academic achievement at SMAN 1 Padang.
