Abstract

Indonesian society has long been known to have an open and moderate religious character as the process of Islamization taking place in peaceful Indonesia. However, recently there has been a trend towards a "conservative turn", a hard, rigid and conservative religious attitude. This phenomenon has then targeted Islamic teachers. PAI teachers, as the "front guard" in the process of instilling Islamic knowledge and values, are very important figures in disseminating friendly, tolerant and open religious attitudes towards students. Through the Living Values Education (LVE) approach, teachers are given training on the values of religious moderation for PAI teachers at Pekanbaru City Public High Schools. This research uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. 20 PAI teachers were selected randomly, then they were given understanding through a living values education (LVE) approach. The results of this research show that there has been an increase in PAI teachers' understanding of moderate religion after being given living values education. These findings are useful for policy makers to apply this study model to spread religious moderation among Muslim communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of workload, career development, and motivation on teacher productivity at the Aditya Karya Education Foundation. This research is important because teacher productivity is a key factor in improving the quality of education, but there are still few studies that comprehensively examine these factors in private educational institutions. This quantitative research involved 100 teacher respondents with a double linear regression analysis method using SPSS. The results show that workload, career development, and motivation significantly affect teacher productivity, both partially and simultaneously. The novelty of this research lies in a holistic approach in identifying the determinants of teacher productivity in the educational foundation environment, which can be a reference for school management in designing human resource development policies. The contribution of this research provides practical recommendations to improve teacher performance through workload optimization, career development programs, and providing the right motivation. These findings also enrich the education management literature with empirical evidence from local contexts. Keywords: Workload, Career Development, Motivation, Productivity.

Abstract

This article describes the tradition practiced by the followers of Qadiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah in Pekanbaru, Riau. By employing a qualitative approach, this article finds that that the tradition of the Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah in Pekanbaru, Riau emerged from the tradition (custom) performed at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Huda al-Islami. Through the pesantren, the tarekat tradition is spread gradually in the practice of education and socialization. From the tradition of pesantren education, this tarekat philosophy is then socialized to the surrounding community's environmental traditions. Philosophically, this study also concluded that tarekat is a doctrine that is close to Islamic education. Pesantren as the center of tarekat development becomes 'icon' development of Islamic education based on Sufi character. In the contemporary context, the values of Sufi education are increasingly crucial, especially in responding to the patterns and lifestyles of consumptive ones arising from modernization, capitalism, and globalization

Abstract

Salafi groups have garnered a significant urban following in Indonesia. However, in religiously diverse contexts --particularly urban centers-- the extent to which Salafi teachings are fully embraced remains uncertain and often prompts critical engagement. This article investigates how active Muslim listeners respond to daʻwah programs aired by Hang Radio, a Salafi-affiliated radio station based in Batam. It argues that these audiences are not passive recipients but rather active and discerning participants who negotiate the religious messages they encounter. The study identifies a spectrum of responses: while some listeners resonate with and adopt Salafi practices, others reject specific elements of the messaging. Such responses reflect a pattern of critical engagement, wherein audiences selectively accept or dismiss particular aspects of the content. The findings indicate that, although Salafi messaging aligns with urban preferences for clarity, simplicity, and immediacy, listeners nevertheless engage in interpretive negotiation. This critical stance reflects a broader communal disposition to maintain continuity with long-established religious understandings and practices in Batam, which constitute a core dimension of their religious habitus.[Kelompok Salafi telah membangun basis pengikut yang signifikan di kawasan perkotaan.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of employee engagement and organizational commitment on employee performance at PT. Tatimel Maitoya, a company operating in a competitive industrial environment where human capital efficiency is critical. The research aims to understand how psychological and attitudinal factors drive workforce productivity in a manufacturing setting. Using a quantitative approach with a saturated sample of 75 employees, data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. Results indicate that both employee engagement and organizational commitment have a significant positive impact on employee performance, individually and collectively, with a high explanatory power. The study contributes to organizational behavior literature by confirming the relevance of engagement and commitment in an Indonesian corporate context. Its novelty lies in focusing on a less-explored firm in the regional manufacturing sector, offering practical insights for HR strategies aimed at enhancing performance through non-financial motivators.

Abstract

Dakwah in Indonesia has been growing nowadays. It is seen from the presence of preachers (da’i) and dakwah institutions and organizations in Indonesia. This article contributed to the discourse of dakwah and charity in Indonesia, especially in the social institution of Teras Dakwah in Yogyakarta. In this context, the discourse about dakwah and charity has not been much studied by previous scholars. Most studies on dakwah focus on the figure, institution, oral and written dakwah, social media, and others. The main research proposed was why and how the Teras Dakwah has been involved in charity practices in both local and regional domains. The research data were obtained based on the nethnographic study. This research showed that the involvement of the Teras Dakwah in dakwah activism-based charity was influenced by the uncertain discourse of social guarantee from the government in which in turns the Teras Dakwah was involved in providing the religious social service both local areas in Yogyakarta and regional areas outside Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Muslim youth in Pekanbaru currently interacts with different culture and tradition. They actively consume modern values spread by global media from different countries. In Muslim societies like Pekanbaru, the rise of modernity and globalization brings multiple impacts on them. One of them is that it supports the growth of piety or religiosity both in the private and public sphere among young Muslims. However, some people may indicate that this piety is a potential or same as radicalism. Radicalism and piety are two complicated terms among young Muslims in this town. As a result, this raises a question on how these Muslim youth understand and practice radicalism and piety. This article argued that, as the impact of globalization and modernity, piety was blended with capitalism and other non-Islamic ideologies. As a result, this article found that, first, Muslim youth in Pekanbaru were negotiating their piety and radicalism with non-Islamic ideologies such as modernity, capitalism, and so forth. Secondly, they could not be labeled into a single term like pious or radical. This is because they were still in the process of negotiation between piety and radicalism.
