Abstract

Objective: Accuracy of diagnosis is a fundamental thing in terms of plan of treatment. Nowadays, symptoms from lower urinary tract can be diagnosed accurately with videourodynamic study (VUDS). Videourodynamic combines a fluoroscopic voiding cystourethrogram with multichannel urodynamics, allowing anatomic and functional assessment of the bladder and outlet. Material & Methods: This research is a descriptive retrospective. Data was taken from the patients who underwent VUDS at Department of Urology Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital from 2012 to 2014. Patient’s  characteristics were gender, age, chief complaint, working diagnosis pre investigation, and diagnosis after VUDS was performed. Then, data was analyzed in a descriptive fashion and presented using tables and narative form. Results: There were 8 male patients (67%) and 4 female (33%) who underwent VUDS. Most of the patients were children (75%). Five patients (42%) complained about incontinence with or without other LUTS, only 1 patient (8%) had LUTS and disuria. Overall, working diagnosis pre investigation was neurogenic bladder with various causes. We found a variable diagnoses after VUDS. At filling phase, we found 7 patients (58%) with small bladder capacity, 5 patients (42%) with low bladder compliance then followed respectively by overflow incontinence (33%), detrusor overactivity (17%) and urethral sphincter incompetence (8%). At voiding phase, the most common abnormality detected were detrusor underactivity (42%), followed by infravesical obstruction (8%). VUR was found both at filling phase (42%) and voiding phase (33%). Conclusion: VUDS could be the first choice of modality for diagnosing dysfunction of lower and upper urinary tract especially in neurogenic cases.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a common health issue among children, particularly those aged 9-12 years. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between UTI incidence and circumcision in children aged 3-12 years. Using a cross-sectional research design, data were collected from 128 respondents at Sumber Waras Hospital, West Jakarta. The findings revealed that 38% of the patients had UTI, with 65.2% of them being uncircumcised children. Statistical analysis showed a significant correlation between circumcision and UTI incidence (p < 0.001). This study supports circumcision as a preventive measure against UTI in boys. However, limitations such as the use of urinalysis as the primary diagnostic method should be addressed in future research. Keywords: Urinary Tract Infection, Circumcision, Children, Prevalence, Risk Factors  ABSTRAK Infeksi Saluran Kemih (ISK) merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan yang sering dialami oleh anak-anak, khususnya pada rentang usia 9-12 tahun. Abstract

Hyperuricemia, characterized by elevated serum uric acid levels, is a health issue that has the potential to cause serious complications such as urinary tract stones and kidney disorders, particularly in the productive-age population. This community service program was implemented using the PDCA method in Danau Sunter, North Jakarta, involving 49 adult participants. The activities included uric acid level screening through blood tests, result analysis, and educational sessions on the prevention and management of hyperuricemia. The screening results showed that all participants had uric acid levels within the normal range. The educational intervention aimed to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing long-term complications. This program demonstrates that screening and education can be effective strategies for the early detection and prevention of urinary tract stones and for maintaining kidney health among productive-age individuals. Abstract

Urinary incontinence (UI) is a significant health issue among the elderly, affecting their quality of life. While its etiology is multifaceted, metabolic and nutritional markers such as diabetes panel parameters and albumin levels may play a role in its severity. However, the relationship between these biomarkers and UI remains underexplored. This study aims to investigate the association of diabetes panel components and albumin levels with the severity of UI in elderly individuals to identify potential predictors. A cross-sectional analytic study was conducted involving 93 elderly participants from Bina Bhakti Nursing Home. UI was assessed using the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Urinary Incontinence Short Form (ICIQ-UI SF). Metabolic markers were analysed using validated methods, including fasting glucose, HbA1c, fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, and albumin. Data were statistically analyzed using Spearman’s Rho and multiple regression analyses to determine correlations and predictive relationships. Significant correlations were observed between HbA1c (r = -0.284, p = 0.006) and albumin (r = -0.259, p = 0.012) with UI severity. Multiple regression analysis confirmed that HbA1c and albumin are significant predictors of UI, with lower levels associated with increased UI severity. Diabetes panel parameters, particularly HbA1c and albumin levels, are valuable predictors of UI severity in elderly individuals. These findings emphasize the importance of metabolic and nutritional health monitoring in managing and mitigating UI symptoms. Future longitudinal studies and intervention trials are recommended to validate these findings and explore therapeutic implications.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is a medical condition characterized by an increase in uric acid levels in the blood above normal limits, which can trigger various metabolic complications such as gouty arthritis, urate nephropathy, and cardiovascular disease. In the early stages, hyperuricemia is often asymptomatic, therefore routine investigation of uric acid level are an important step in early detection. The Community Service Program (PKM) implemented at the Asisi Church, Tebet District, aims to increase public awareness of the importance of early detection of hyperuricemia through blood uric acid level screening activities. This activity uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach, which includes capillary blood tests with Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) tools and education on risk factors, symptoms, and prevention of hyperuricemia. Of the 68 participants, all participants showed uric acid levels within the normal range. These results emphasize the importance of education and routine screening efforts to maintain uric acid levels within normal limits, prevent complications in the future, and build public awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle to maintain quality of life sustainably.

Abstract

Abstract
