Abstract

Penelitian ini menjelaskan analisis sosiokultural dan penggunaan bahasa kedua dalam masyarakat, dengan fokus pada mahasiswa bahasa Inggris. Mahasiswa bahasa Inggris menghadapi lingkungan yang dinamis di mana bahasa kedua, yaitu bahasa Inggris, menjadi peran penting dalam kehidupan akademik dan sosial mereka. Studi ini mencoba untuk memahami dampak faktor-faktor sosiokultural pada penggunaan bahasa kedua mereka dalam konteks tersebut. Penelitian ini melibatkan analisis sosiokultural yang meliputi berbagai aspek, seperti konteks akademik, identitas linguistik, gaya komunikasi, perkembangan kemampuan bahasa, dan peran pendidik. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, survei, dan analisis teks tertulis dari mahasiswa bahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh budaya asal, pengaruh lingkungan akademik, serta interaksi dengan dosen dan teman sebaya memiliki peran penting dalam penggunaan bahasa kedua mahasiswa. Terdapat juga variasi dalam penggunaan bahasa kedua, seperti diglossia dan code-switching, tergantung pada konteks social. Penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya pengembangan identitas linguistik, peran pendidik, dan faktor-faktor sosial dalam penggunaan bahasa kedua mahasiswa bahasa Inggris. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi penting dalam perencanaan kurikulum dan strategi pengajaran bahasa kedua di lingkungan universitas. Sebagai hasilnya, penelitian ini membantu dalam memahami dinamika penggunaan bahasa kedua dalam masyarakat mahasiswa bahasa Inggris dan kontribusinya terhadap perkembangan mereka dalam pendidikan tinggi.Kata kunci: Analisis Sosiokultural; Lingkungan Akademik; Pengaruh Sosial; code-switching.

Abstract

Reading ability is a basic requirement for academic achievements and ongoing learning processes, specifically among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students who must handle progressively challenging linguistic and intellectual demands in modern global educational frameworks. The current approaches for teaching self-regulated learning (SRL) through training programs face a significant drawback because they do not provide enough interactivity and personalized assistance that addresses individual student requirements. Advances in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) offer a potential solution to this challenge by delivering dynamic, adaptive guidance that enhances self-regulation in reading. This study examines the impact of GenAI-enabled SRL assistance for self-regulated reading strategies and engagement of university-level EFL students, employing a quasi-experimental design with 62 Indonesian learners from two classrooms. Following a 45-minute instructional session on SRL in reading, participants engaged in a 12-week autonomous reading program using a digital platform, with the experimental group (N= 32) receiving chatbot-based SRL assistance and the control group (N= 30) engaging in independent reading without additional support. Data from pre- and post-questionnaires, platform log analyses, and semi-structured interviews indicate that the intervention significantly enhanced students' application of self-regulated learning strategies and their level of engagement in reading activities. The findings stress the effectiveness of interactive, GenAI-assisted SRL support in fostering sustained engagement and strategic reading behaviours, accentuating its potential to address longstanding gaps in EFL reading instruction.

Abstract

Permasalahan  anak muncul di berbagai daerah,  seperti kekerasan anak, kejahatan seksual anak, frees sex, narkoba dll. Oleh karena itu pengabdian ini akan menitikberatkan pada permasalahan anak khususnya dalam konteks pendidikan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan selama 2 bulan di desa Pasi Lhok. Adapun mengenai pengabdian ini berupa, pelatihan atau parenting orang tua dan anak, penguatan dan pendampingan terhadap taman belajar dan bermain anak yang dilaksanakan di balai, serta pendampingan terhadap organisasi kepemudaan desa karang taruna guna memberdayakan anak dan remaja di desa Pasi Lhok. Pendampingan terhadap taman belajar anak ini melibatkan kerjsama dengan orang tua dan karang taruna. Dengan memberikan penyuluhan dan parenting terhadap orang tua, maka harapannya orang tua mempunyai waktu luang dan lebih untuk mengontrol anak, sedangkan pelibatan kerjsama karang taruna guna memberdayakan remaja untuk turut serta aktif membangun karakter dan pendidikan desa.Kata Kunci: Pendampingan, Anak, Desa Pasi Lhok

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out whether the use of the students who are taught English by using the Students Team Achievement Division and those who are taught English by using other methods is increasing reading skills. The writer used Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) to teach the students. The Design of the research was quantitative research. The instrument used Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) to collect data in this research was a set of tests, which consisted of test that are Pre-test and Post-test. A pre-test was given before the writer treated the students by using techniques, in order to find out the student’s ability in mastering reading skills. Post-test was given after the writer did experimental teaching six times. It was aimed to find out the improvement of the student’s ability in mastering speaking after teaching students with used classroom debate techniques. The result of the data analysis revealed that the experimental class had a total score of 832, whereas the control class had a total score of 173,377. The experimental class had a mean score of 20,133, while the control class had a mean score of 16,76. It was discovered that the experimental class's mean difference score was greater than the control class's (20,133-16,76). The outcome was, on the other hand, 0.99. Because of that, higher than (20,33 16,76). It means, was accepted. And the conclusion indicated that the ability of the students in mastering reading had increased after the writer Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique.

Abstract

This community service article addresses the need for innovative and engaging English language learning methods for high school students (SMA). The shift in educational paradigms requires educators to integrate technology that supports interactive and experiential learning. This program focuses on the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) integrated with Augmented Reality (AR) technology to stimulate students' interest and enhance their English proficiency. The AR approach allows students to create digital objects (such as 3D models or interactive videos) anchored to real-world triggers, turning abstract language concepts into concrete, tangible, and fun experiences. The method involved three main stages: teacher training on AR content creation tools, student workshops on developing English-based AR projects (e.g., creating an AR tour guide for the school or an interactive vocabulary quiz), and the final implementation/exhibition of the AR projects. The results demonstrated a significant positive impact on students' motivation, collaborative skills, and practical language competence, especially in speaking and vocabulary mastery. AR successfully served as a supporting factor to create a wide and conducive learning environment. This project confirms that integrating emerging technologies like AR through a project-based approach is an effective and comprehensive strategy to optimize the potential and holistic growth of SMA students in English learning.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of Augmented Reality (AR) books on the reading comprehension and attitudes of Indonesian EFL learners. Employing a quasi-experimental mixed-method design, 62 university students were divided into an experimental group (n=31) and a control group (n=31). Over a five-week intervention, the experimental group used AR books via tablets, while the control group used printed textbooks. Reading comprehension was assessed using pre- and post-tests, and attitudes were measured using a validated reading attitude questionnaire. Qualitative data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with participants from the experimental group. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement in reading comprehension for the AR group (t(13)=4.73, p < 0.001, CohenÔÇÖs d = 0.83), and significantly more positive reading attitudes across all measured domains (e.g., overall attitude: t(60)=3.48, p = 0.002). These findings suggest a large effect size and practical benefit of AR book integration. The study highlights the potential of AR technology to enhance both cognitive and affective outcomes in EFL reading instruction and supports its implementation in digitally supported learning environments.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah : (1). Untuk mengetahui peran Dinas Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dan Gampong dalam upaya peningkatan Kinerja Aparatur Pemerintah Gampong/ Desa. (2). Untuk mengetahui  dan  menganalisis  faktor  penghambat  yang  di  hadapi  dalam  peningkatan  kinerja Aparatur Pemerintah Gampong.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Untuk memperoleh data penyusun menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah pegawai dilingkungan Dinas Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dan Gampong Kabupaten Pidie. Dalam upaya peningkatan kinerja aparatur pemerintah Gampong DPMG membuat dan melaksanakan beberapa program diantaranya pemberian informasi yakni dengan Pelatihan Gratis dan sebagainya yang berkaitan dengan informasi Pemerintah Gampong, diadakanya pelatihan – pelatihan diantaranya pelatihan Keuchik (Kepala Desa), administrasi Gampong, perangkat Gampong, tata naskah, pembuatan perdes dan lain – lain, setelah berakhirnya pelatihan dilakukan pengawasan dan evaluasi guna melihat sejauh mana perkembangan dan kekurangan, sebagai mediator DPMG juga sebagai wadah pelaksanaan upaya peningkatan kinerja Aparatur Pemerintah Gampong tersebut, serta melengkapi fasilitas pendukung dalam upaya peningkatan Kinerja Aparatur Pemerintah Gampong selain dalam melakukan atau mengadakan pelatihan untuk memperoleh hasil yang lebih maksimal harus dibantu dengan fasilitas – fasilitas pendukung yakni diantaranya perlengkapan sarana kerja, tunjangan – tunjangan dan sebagainya yang bertujuan memotivasi pemerintah Gampong dalam bekerja.Kata Kunci: Analisis Fungsi, Peningkatan, Kinerja, Aparatur

Abstract

Despite growing interest in Augmented Reality (AR) in language education, few studies have systematically evaluated its impact on EFL reading comprehension or examined instructors’ perspectives, particularly in Indonesian contexts. This study employed a quasi-experimental mixed-methods design to investigate the effectiveness of Assemblr EDU, an AR-based application, in enhancing reading comprehension among 104 B1-level Indonesian EFL undergraduates. Using the Dialang test and one-way ANCOVA, results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group’s posttest scores (M = 15.61) compared to the control group (M = 12.43), with a large effect size (partial η² = .919, p < .001). The mean difference of -2.808 (p = .000) confirms the substantial advantage of AR integration. Qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with six experienced lecturers, thematically analyzed, revealed that AR fostered student motivation, vocabulary retention, and conceptual understanding through multimodal interaction. However, technical limitations and access issues were identified as persistent challenges. The findings support AR’s pedagogical relevance in EFL reading instruction, though successful implementation demands infrastructural readiness and teacher training.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a multimodal approach in improving students' language learning comprehension and communication skills. The multimodal approach integrates various modalities, such as text, images, sound, video, and digital technology, compared to the monomodal method which only uses one modality. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two groups, namely the control group and the experimental group, with a total of 60 students. The instruments used included pre-test and post-test, student perception questionnaires, classroom observations, and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that the experimental group taught with a multimodal approach experienced a significant increase in language comprehension, averaging 25%, while the control group increased by only 10%. In addition, students who used the multimodal approach reported higher levels of motivation and engagement in the learning process. Observations showed that technology plays an important role in creating an interactive and dynamic learning environment. However, there are challenges related to equitable access to technology among students. In conclusion, the multimodal approach proved more effective at improving students' language comprehension and communication skills than the monomodal method. This study recommends developing technological infrastructure, providing teacher training, and integrating multimodality into the curriculum to maximize the benefits of this method.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat literasi digital sekaligus mendukung pemulihan phisikososial anak-anak dan remaja di Desa Mee Tanoh, Aceh, yang terdampak bencana. Program ini dilaksanakan selama 30 hari dengan melibatkan peserta dari berbagai jenjang pendidikan, mulai dari PAUD/TK hingga SMA. Kegiatan dirancang secara bertahap melalui beberapa sesi, yaitu literasi cerita, pengenalan dan praktik menulis cerita digital melalui platform Wattpad, kegiatan mendengarkan serta mendiskusikan podcast edukatif, hingga pelatihan pembuatan podcast sederhana. Pada tahap awal, peserta diajak untuk mengekspresikan pengalaman dan perasaan mereka melalui cerita lisan, gambar, dan tulisan sederhana. Selanjutnya, peserta diperkenalkan dengan penggunaan media digital sebagai sarana menulis dan berbagi cerita secara kreatif. Kegiatan podcast juga memberikan ruang bagi peserta untuk mendengarkan pengalaman orang lain serta berdiskusi mengenai berbagai cara menghadapi kesulitan dalam kehidupan. Untuk mengetahui tanggapan peserta terhadap kegiatan yang telah dilaksanakan, dilakukan pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner menggunakan skala Likert 1–3. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta merespons positif program ini. Kegiatan literasi digital berbasis cerita dan audio edukatif tidak hanya meningkatkan minat menulis dan kemampuan memanfaatkan media digital, tetapi juga membantu peserta lebih percaya diri dalam mengekspresikan pengalaman mereka. Program ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan kreatif berbasis literasi digital dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif dalam mendukung pemulihan psikososial masyarakat pasca bencana.Kata kunci: Literasi Digital, Pemulihan Psikososial, Pengabdian Masyarakat, Wattpad dan Podcast Edukatif, Storytelling
