Elderly health is important in relation to quality of life. Prosperous elderly has an optimal quality of life. The purpose of this community service is to find out the characteristics and diseases suffered by the elderly who live with their families. This community service is in the form of a direct survey conducted with home visits to several families with elderly or pre-elderly living in them. The results show that the majority of those surveyed were female (73%). At the level of depression, more than 50% was found with no depression. From the level of independence, almost all of them were in the independent elderly category. Family APGAR assessment shows that more than 80% were in the category of mild dysfunction or no family dysfunction. On blood pressure examination, more than half had hypertension both systolic (61%) and diastolic (56%) from degrees 1 to 3. Thus, further action is needed, especially nurses to make appropriate diagnoses and interventions for problems that arise, so that quality of life can be maintained.

Abstract

Pain is one of the problems encountered in patients with surgical cases. If not handled properly, pain will cause discomfort, sleep disturbances, and a decrease in quality of life. Families are expected to be able to teach deep breathing relaxation techniques to patients in managing pain at home with mild to moderate intensity. To achieve this capacity, community service activities are held which aim to improve the family's ability to perform deep breathing relaxation techniques. The activity took the form of a short training in the orchid room at Sumedang Hospital, which was attended by 16 people. The pre and post test results showed an increase in family capacity in performing deep breathing relaxation techniques (p=0.01). Thus, the activities carried out are useful for increasing family capacity in managing pain. It is hoped that this activity will continue to be carried out in other similar cases with the aim of relieving pain and improving quality of life.

Abstract

Rhinitis is one of the diseases associated with immune instability. Efforts to prevent the recurrence of rhinitis include maintaining immunity, avoiding allergies, practicing good stress management, and eating a diet that is in accordance with healthy living guidelines. Rihinits can reduce the quality of life of sufferers; therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to prevent the disease through community capacity-building activities related to rhinits. We used a virtual talk show on the Zoom meeting platform for 60 minutes as the method. Forty participants attended the activity, achieving a pretest score of 84.7 and a posttest score of 89.4. Thus, the community's capacity to increase immunity and prevent rhinitis has increased. In order to improve the health status of people with immune disorders, especially rhinitis, we expect this activity to continue in different places and with different participants

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to adulthood characterized by several significant changes in terms of physical, psychological, and social aspects. Adolescence is a period of exploration; they will try many new things. This condition encourages adolescents to engage in risky behavior and unhealthy lifestyles. One of the risks associated with this condition is the excessive use of electronic devices or gadgets. We conducted socialization activities using health promotion and education methods at SMPN 2 Tarogong Kidul, located in Jayaraga Village, Tarogong Kidul District, Garut Regency. The first stage of the activity involves identifying the behavior patterns of students at the school, based on the school's interpretation and perspective. The implementation stage involves the socialization of students at SMPN 2 Tarogong Kidul Garut, utilizing a delivery method that includes lectures, discussions, and questions and answers. During the final stage, we assessed students' understanding through pretests and posttests, which supported the evaluation of their success. Based on the pre-test and post-test completed by the socialization participants, it is evident that the provided material has imparted knowledge to them, demonstrating that students are paying attention to the presented content.
