Abstract

Penelitian ini berusaha mengevaluasi komunikasi publik Pemerintah Republik Indonesia terkait pandemi Covid-19 di Indonesia dari perspektif para jurnalis sebagai mitra pemerintah dalam menyampaikan pesan kepada masyarakat. Dengan menggunakan teori sistem dan excellence theory Grunig sebagai kerangka teoretis, penelitian ini mencoba memahami bagaimana pemerintah sebagai organismee hidup berinteraksi dengan lingkungannya dan mengidentifikasi strategi kehumasan yang dipakai dalam berkomunikasi kepada para pemangku kepentingan terkait pandemi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan memakai focus group discussion (FGD) dan big data analysis (BDA) sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perubahan dalam pola komunikasi krisis pemerintah. Hal ini didorong oleh adanya perubahan kepemimpinan di lembaga terkait dan pergeseran pola komunikasi yang awalnya bersifat militeristik menjadi nonmiliteristik. Namun demikian, beberapa masalah masih didapati dalam komunikasi pemerintah tersebut, di antaranya, masih ditemukannya ego sektoral, inkonsistensi pesan yang dikirimkan oleh lembaga-lembaga pemerintah, penggunaan symbol rujukan yang tidak universal, banyaknya aspek seremonial yang tidak perlu, dan kesenjangan antara perumusan dan realisasi ide serta pelibatan para pemangku kepentingan dalam semangat volunterisme.This study seeks to evaluate the public communication of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia from the perspective of journalists as government partners in conveying messages to the public. Using Grunig's systems theory and excellence theory as a theoretical framework, this study tries to understand how the government as a living organisme interacts with its environment and identifies the public relations strategy used in communicating with stakeholders regarding the pandemic. This study employed a qualitative approach using focus group discussions (FGD) and big data analysis (BDA) as data collection techniques. The results showed a change in the government's crisis communication pattern. This is driven by a change in leadership in related institutions and a shift in communication patterns from militaristic to non-militaristic. However, several problems are still found in the government's communication, including the finding of sectoral egos, inconsistency of messages sent by government institutions, the use of non-universal reference symbols, many unnecessary ceremonial aspects, and the gap between formulation and realization of ideas and involvement of stakeholders in the spirit of voluntarism.

Abstract

Various statements about Covid-19 vaccines from the government became a lot of discussion, including among teachers. Government public communication should be carried out to manage diverse polemics and public opinion. Discussions about the planning and process of vaccine administration come with different approaches, thinking skills and knowledge, especially with the increasing use of communication technology such as internet and social media. This difference in knowledge and perception can be bridged if there are parties who help socialize the benefits and importance of the COVID-19 vaccine, such as teacher, one of the gate keepers in selecting information and public dissemination. The specific purpose of this research is to get a complete picture of how digital literacy skills and teachers' perceptions of information regarding the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine. Method used are by distributing online questionnaires to high school teachers in Indonesia (DKI Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bali, South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi) with approximately 493 samples. From the discussion, SMA/SMK teachers in Indonesia have excellent digital literacy skills related to COVID-19 Vaccine information in online media. It's just that unfortunately the ability to produce, modify and participate in organizations that produce messages related to COVID-19 Vaccine information is still relatively low.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine challenges of teaching gender in journalism and media studies courses on various campuses in Jakarta, Indonesia. The ‘otherness’ is still ghosting the lecturer, where the duality is a must to create comprehension on gender topics. It is essential because teaching the gender issue in communication study programs in Indonesia does not reflect a lot on women’s experiences. The theory of gender pedagogy is the basis of this study. Meanwhile, the duality perspective serves as its framework. Gender pedagogy is not just a tool, strategy, or practical technique for understanding gender teaching in education. Teaching gender equality values in the classroom becomes a challenge for teachers. This research applied a qualitative approach and hermeneutic phenomenology strategy. The research used in-depth interviews for research instruments. This research indicated various levels of understanding and implementation of teaching gender issues. Even in some universities that do not include gender issues in journalism and media studies courses, the lecturers must struggle to fit gender issues in various teaching opportunities in their classrooms. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tantangan pengajaran gender dalam mata kuliah jurnalisme dan studi media di berbagai kampus di Jakarta, Indonesia. ‘Keberbedaan’ masih mengaburkan pengajaran, di mana dualitas menjadi suatu keharusan untuk menciptakan pemahaman tentang topik gender. Hal ini penting karena pengajaran isu gender di program studi komunikasi di Indonesia tidak banyak merefleksikan pengalaman perempuan. Teori pedagogi gender adalah dasar dari penelitian ini. Sementara itu, perspektif dualitas berfungsi sebagai kerangka kerjanya. Pedagogi gender bukan hanya alat, strategi, atau teknik praktis untuk memahami pengajaran gender dalam pendidikan. Mengajarkan nilai-nilai kesetaraan gender di kelas menjadi tantangan tersendiri bagi guru. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif dan strategi fenomenologi hermeneutika. Penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara mendalam untuk instrumen penelitian. Penelitian ini menunjukkan berbagai tingkat pemahaman dan implementasi pengajaran isu gender. Bahkan di beberapa universitas yang tidak memasukkan isu gender dalam mata kuliah jurnalisme dan studi media, para dosen harus berjuang untuk menyesuaikan isu gender dalam berbagai kesempatan mengajar di kelas mereka.

Abstract

The existence of tropical forests in East Kalimantan, covering an area of 40.8 million hectares, has been claimed internationally as one of the lungs of the world. This situation causes the Indonesian government to try its best to strengthen the awareness of all parties to maintain ecosystems and nature preservation in East Kalimantan. One state company that is very concerned about this issue is PT PLN (State Power Plant), especially PLN Mahakam Power Plant Control Implementation Unit in Samarinda. PLN strives to continuously assist in several residential areas in the city of Samarinda to provide community-strengthening awareness of environmental protection and nature conservation. This study wants to know how PLN carried out the advocacy strategy for the Village Climate program with partners of the Environmental Office in Samarinda to contribute to achieving SDGs in the environmental sector. Assistance and advocacy to the community are essential to strengthening awareness and sustainable environmental protection behavior. It is inseparable from appropriate communication strategies and implementing intercultural communication locally. This research will use a constructive paradigm with a methodological approach using in-depth interviews with the implementing partners of assistance and advocacy, namely from the environmental office and from PLN, who assist in 12 points of residential areas and educational facilities in the city Samarinda. The results showed that the success of this activity could not be separated from the right communication strategy and the full involvement of various parties to succeed in the Climate Village program in the city of Samarinda.

Abstract

The number of smokers in Indonesia has increased significantly from year to year, especially among teenagers. Data from the IAKMI Tobacco Support and Support Center in 2014, shows one example, that the number of tobacco smokers in the population is 15 years more than those who chew tobacco. This happened because there were no laws issued by the government which prohibited smoking children while industries advertised their products by increasing through various media, including through online media, targeting teenagers. The purpose of this study is to find out what online media advertises cigarettes targeting teenagers in Indonesia. Creative advertisers emphasize that the advertisements they make are introducing brands, products, or creating awareness for their consumers. But there are also advertisements that direct the action, such as the actions of consumers to buy products. Media exposure theory, especially with the use of online media, is used to see the extent to which cigarette advertisements can penetrate the space and time of young people in urban areas. This study uses a quantitative approach with a method of distributing questionnaires to urban teenagers living in five major cities in Indonesia, namely in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Surabaya. The results of this study show that all lines of online media consumed by teenagers are used massively by advertisers of cigarettes. Online media that most often upload cigarette advertisements are YouTube, Website, Instagram and online games.

Abstract

This research focuses on the influence of Hanif Alim's TikTok content on the communication skills of Gen-Z in job seeking. With the rapid growth of internet users, social media platforms like TikTok have become important for sharing information. The research aims to understand the impact of such content on the communication skills of Gen-Z in the context of employment. Thus, this study explores how TikTok affects their job readiness. The research utilizes a survey method within a quantitative analysis approach. A questionnaire was employed to collect data from 100 Gen-Z respondents following the TikTok account @hanifalim in Jakarta. The questions were related to Likert scale indicators with 5 points. The questionnaire was distributed via Google Form to the account followers through direct messages (DMs) to solicit participation. Consequently, it can be inferred that there is an influence of Hanif Alim's TikTok Content (X) in Enhancing the Communication Skills of Gen-Z in Job Seeking. The influence of the variable Hanif Alim's TikTok Content (X) on the variable Enhancing the Communication Skills of Gen-Z in Job Seeking (Y) is 77.5%. The remaining percentage is influenced by other factors not identified in this study.

Abstract

The background of this research is the presence of Social News Site in Indonesia. Contents could be viral as long as it is being shared. People will read the information if they are interested or if it is useful for them. This research aims to find out the people’s interest of content on Social News Site and its spread. There are several factors that build the people’s interest in consuming information. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method with data collection technique through interviews, online observation and literature study. This study focuses to analyze people’s interest and content spreading. The researcher uses AISAS (Sugiyama & Andree, 2010) model to analyze this problem. AISAS stands to Attention, Interest, Search, Action, and Share.

Abstract

Visual communication through social media has become an integral part of today's digital culture, with beauty tutorial content on platforms like TikTok gaining significant popularity. However, few studies have paid attention to the impact of beauty tutorial content on TikTok on the makeup interest of followers on the @focallure.live account. The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of beauty tutorial content videos on TikTok on the interest of @focallure.live followers in makeup. A quantitative approach was used in this study, with data collected through questionnaire filling. Data analysis includes testing of instruments, validity, reliability, normality, coefficient of determination, simple linear regression analysis, and testing of partial hypotheses. The results of the study show that the content of beauty tutorials significantly affects the makeup interest of followers of the @focallure.live account. It was found that the variables Providing Information and Explaining the Process in the tutorial video had the greatest influence on makeup interest. The study concluded that beauty tutorial content on TikTok plays an important role in shaping the makeup interest of @focallure.live account followers. These findings provide deeper insights into the impact of social media on consumer behavior in the beauty industry.

Abstract

This research aims to comprehend the phenomenon known as "cancel culture," explicitly examining its operations in Indonesia compared to other nations. The study seeks to identify the mechanisms, social dynamics, and cultural discrepancies that shape the repercussions of cancel culture on prominent individuals and society. Moreover, it delves into the psychological ramifications it engenders, along with proposed measures to mitigate its adverse effects. Employing a qualitative methodology with a case study orientation, this research scrutinizes the cancel culture phenomenon. Techniques for data collection encompass a thorough literature review and observations across diverse social media platforms. Subsequently, the gathered data is scrutinized through a narrative perspective utilizing the cancel culture framework. Furthermore, the research incorporates ethnographic methodologies to investigate online community culture and associated phenomena. Findings from this study illustrate the intricate consequences of canceling culture on public figures and society, showcasing notable distinctions between Indonesia and other global contexts. In Indonesia, this trend can paradoxically elevate the profile of the affected individual, while elsewhere, it commonly results in professional setbacks and enduring repercussions. Noteworthy psychological effects, such as depression and suicidal inclinations stemming from public shame and social ostracism, were uncovered. The illustrated case study demonstrates the diverse outcomes encountered by public figures on both domestic and international platforms. To alleviate the adverse impacts of cancel culture, the study proposes strategies like emotional backing, constructive discourse, answerability, and professional intervention.

Abstract

UMKM memiliki peran penting dalam menyumbangkan penyerapan tenaga kerja dan peningkatan ekonomi. Situasi seperti ini menggambarkan optimisme prospek UMKM di masa depan. Namun, UMKM memiliki kendala dalam proses kemudahan mendistribusikan produk, serta harga produk yang dibandingkan dengan produk sejenis dari produksi pabrik besar. Salah satu usaha UMKM di Bekasi yang mulai tumbuh dan sudah masuk pada toko retail dan marketplace adalah Kentang Kriuk Mas Bro. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi bagaimana kemudahan dalam memperoleh produk serta strategi penetapan harga mempengaruhi keputusan konsumen dalam membeli produk Kentang Kriuk Mas Bro. Pendekatan perilaku konsumen digunakan sebagai dasar dari penelitian untuk melihat bagaimana indikator kemudahan mendapatkan produk dan penetapan harga memberikan pengaruh pada konsumen. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menyebarkan kuesioner pada para pembeli produk Kentang Kriuk Mas Bro, baik yang menjadi follower @Kentang Kriuk Mas Bro, maupun yang melakukan pembelian secara langsung di toko retail maupun marketplace online.
