Abstract

The management of fisheries access areas is one form of ecosystem-based fisheries management, which integrates marine protected area activities with controlled fishing activities carried out by local fishermen. The objective of sustainable fishing activities in the Kolono Bay Fisheries Access Area is to enhance the capacities of both the local fishermen and the PAAP management. This initiative involves the participation of 15 managing fishermen from five villages: All located in the Kolono Bay area. The project commences with the formation of groups, followed by discussion forums group, guided by a facilitator from RARE Indonesia Sultra. The DFG sessions were held twice, each with distinct themes: (1) issues and challenges encountered by fishermen during fishing activities in Kolono Bay, and (2) concerns related to climate change. Participants exhibited great enthusiasm throughout the engagement, as evidenced by the active sharing of the challenges they have faced concerning their fishing activities in Teluk Kolono during the FGD sessions. The outreach material was presented in simple language to ensure participants' comprehension. In general, it can be concluded that the information provided during this engagement has the potential to enhance the capacities of fishermen engaged in PAAP management in Teluk Kolono to support sustainable fishing.

Abstract

One of the processed fish that is very popular among culinary enthusiasts is pempek. This preparation is made by grinding fish meat and adding a certain amount of flour to form a dough that can be formed in various types, such as submarine pempek, adaan, lenjer and several other forms. The purpose of community service activities (PKM) is to provide guidance for the Bau-Bau community members in producing various variants of pempek as food products for families and for culinary-based souvenirs or entrepreneurial products. Pempek is a value added product from Andeande fish that have low economic value. The activities were attended by small entrepreneurs who were registered with the Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) agency. The results of this activity showed the success of the participants in producing several types of pempek, namely black pempek from squid blood, pempek green kelor leaves, pempek shrimp, pempek filled with rebon and several other variants.Pempek;  Bau-bau;  UKM;  culinary;  value added product

Abstract

Rendahnya mutu ikan kering hasil tangkapan nelayan Desa Barasanga yang selama ini diproses secara tradisional dan dijual tanpa pengemasan, sehingga berdampak pada umur simpan yang pendek dan sulit bersaing di pasar modern. Program kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemampuan masyarakat dalam penggunaan teknologi pengemasan vakum dan diversifikasi produk menggunakan bahan baku ikan kering lokal. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup pemberian materi tentang pentingnya kemasan pada produk hasil perikanan, khususnya kemasan vakum, praktik langsung penggunaan alat mesin vakum, dan pembuatan produk diversifikasi hasil perikanan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa 75% peserta berasal dari kelompok ibu rumah tangga, khususnya istri nelayan. Evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test memperlihatkan peningkatan pengetahuan sebesar 46% dan peningkatan keterampilan teknis hingga 96%. Selain mampu menghasilkan produk higienis dengan umur simpan lebih panjang, peserta juga berhasil mengembangkan inovasi diversifikasi produk seperti ikan kering asam manis dan sambal ikan asin. Dengan terlaksananya program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, sehingga berhasil meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat serta daya saing produk perikanan Desa Barasanga secara signifikan.
