Abstract

This article reports a failure analysis of a diesel generator set connecting rod type 3516 B that has operated for 79,678 hours. From visual observation, connecting rod cylinder #10 has changed color in the shank area. This phenomenon may represent many cases of generator failure, so an analysis to identify the root cause of the failure is needed for scientific literature. In this case, fault tree analysis, SEM-EDX, chemical composition, and microstructure testing were performed to obtain more comprehensive results. Through fault tree analysis, we found that the connecting rod damage was caused by compression leakage due to wear on the cylinder liner. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis shows that the piston rod material is discolored due to heat, namely the formation of iron oxide. The heat level received by the connecting rod is around 200 °C. We also found a finely formed, easy-to-clean scale where the thickness ranged from 0.00127–0.008 mm. Finally, EDX analysis showed high levels of iron (Fe) and oxygen (O) confirming that the formation of iron-oxide on the metal surface was due to the influence of heat.

Abstract

Leaking fuel from the fuel supply pump will have an impact on decreasing engine reliability. To determine the root cause of the damage, an analysis must be carried out so that the same incident does not happen again. The research method used, visual inspection, collection of maintenance data and using fishbone analysis. The results of the research on the fuel leak from the fuel supply pump contained particles that caused damage to the Seal O Ring. Contamination of the fuel supply pump is due to the quality of the rebuild. To evaluate the recondition process carried out by vendors and internal companies. Then educate every human resource who often makes repairs or overhauls to improve the quality of component reconditioning.

Abstract

This case study was conducted in a manufacturing company that experienced a breakdown in a power generator set. A standard investigation was carried out by opening the crankcase cover and checking the dipstick. The results of the visual inspection showed that the engine oil was contaminated with water. Therefore, this study was conducted to further analyze the causes of oil contaminated with water in the unit being handled using fault tree analysis (FTA). As a result, cracks were found in the cylinder liner due to pitting on the outer liner with a pitting depth of more than 2 mm. In our analysis, pitting is formed due to the presence of air bubbles in the cooling system. Based on FTA, the formation of air bubbles is caused by the quality of the coolant. We also found that the coolant used was not added with any additives.

Abstract

The main problem that often occurs in the operation and maintenance of power plants is a decrease in the reliability of the Gas Turbine. The decline in the performance of the Gas Turbine, which often experiences trips, was recorded at the highest 3 times in one day. Based on the inspection, it was found that there were deposits on the compressor and turbine blades during operation. The decrease in power in the generating unit is accompanied by an increase in fuel consumption. The purpose of this study is to analyze Blade Washing Online on the performance of gas turbines due to the formation of carbon deposits on the compressor wheel and turbine wheel. To improve the reliability of the gas engine, a method of doing Blade Washing is needed to clean carbon deposits in the compressor and turbine wheel. Based on the results of research before Blade Washing the turbine power only reached 255.37621 MW, after Blade Washing was able to make the compressor work more reliably, produce good turbine gas efficiency, and be able to reduce turbine gas performance disturbances due to running hours the power generated reached 268,77738 MW, there is a fuel consumption savings of 1.4 kg/s and thermal efficiency of 0.8%. In the Tanjung Priok Block 3 PLTGU unit, Online washing is carried out at a load condition of 200MW ±5MW. To clean fouling and maintain the performance of the turbine. Cleanliness of the compressor and turbine blades can be maintained by carrying out this blade washing based on a periodic schedule calculated based on running hours.

Abstract

The power transformer is an essential part of the electrical distribution system because it must be reliable and safe from fire and explosions, one of which is brought on by internal oil arching that results in overheating. In general, on the high voltage side of the transformer, there are power transformers fitted with tubular oil to oil cable boxes for the demands of the client. The tubular oil to oil cable box is installed to reduce space in substations with limited space as well as to boost safety against weather and pollution at the high voltage terminal section of power transformers. The goal of this investigation is to determine the cause of an explosion that occurred in a tubular oil-to-oil cable box on the high voltage side of a Gas Insulation System (GIS) type power transformer with a power of 60 MVA and a voltage rating of 150/20 kV. For all parties involved, this incident will serve as a lesson about what to avoid doing in the future with similar power transformers. In this study, we will use a qualitative method with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), which takes samples and data of a Gas Insulation System (GIS) power transformer on the high voltage side, especially in the analysis of tubular strength. This power transformer has a voltage rating of 150/20 kV and a power of 60 MVA. Applying normal pressure to a pressure that could harm the tubular oil to oil cable box can prevent damage. The tubular oil to oil cable box is built of SS400 material and has an 8mm thickness so that it can be determined how robust it is.

Abstract

As an educational institution, the age of SD Muhammadiyah Jonggol is relatively young and has just entered its sixth year. For this reason, a lot of internal coaching is needed to improve the quality of Human Resources (HR), especially teachers. From the conversation with the Principal of SD Muhammadiyah Jonggol, Imran Fauzan Noor, S.Pd.I, information was obtained that teacher character building is an urgent need. It is necessary to conduct character building for the teachers of SD Muhammadiyah Jonggol. The method used in this Community Service (PkM) activity is the extension method. Activities are carried out face to face. Technical counseling is carried out by delivering the material and then holding several exercises. The result of the activity is an increase in the level of participants' understanding of the material. This is evidenced by several practice cases and answers to the questionnaire

Abstract

Good management of organic and non-organic waste has an impact on comfort in residential areas and currently in the Cileungsi area, waste management has not been managed properly and has an adverse impact on the environment. As for housing, RT and RW environments, they are less active in terms of waste management. In the waste disposal process, each RT objected to the annual fee being increased. The fee charged for disposing of waste to the final shelter is around Rp. 12,500, - per head of family. It has been more or less 5 years since the levy fee has not been increased, due to the reason that the fee is used for other needs. Another problem also occurs in the Pesona Vista residential area, where garbage is collected by related parties, which takes 3-4 days each week. Under these conditions, discomfort arises in the environment, starting from the smell of garbage, because the rats eat the trash. The solution offered in this community service activity is organic and non-organic waste management to improve the economy of the community around the housing and create a healthy atmosphere in the housing environment. Organic waste will be managed to become liquid or solid compost. In the process of managing this organic waste using a counter, where there is a need for training on proper and correct operating and maintenance procedures. Abstract

Proses produksi pembuatan pipa HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene) yaitu terbuat dari bahan plastik jenis High Density Poly Ethylene yang memiliki melt temperatur 210 s.d 270ºC menggunakan mesin Extruder plastik. Perusahaan selalu berupaya agar menghasilkan produk yang baik dan menekan kerusakan produk atau Reject. Salah satunya adalah Reject Start, Reject Start merupakan Reject yang tidak dapat dihindari pada proses produksi pipa HDPE, tetapi Reject ini memiliki standar yang telah ditentukan oleh perusahaan. Pada proses produksi Pipa HDPE diameter 1.000 mm PN6 di Line Extruder 07 mengalami kendala Reject Start yang melebihi standar yang ditentukan oleh perusahaan yaitu 10.789 kg, sedangkan yang terjadi adalah 18.339 kg. Selisihnya yaitu 7.550 kg, jika dipersentasekan adalah 170 %. Melihat permasalahan yang terjadi di atas, perlu dilakukan analisis untuk mengetahui penyebab terjadinya Reject Start melebihi standar yang telah ditentukan. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan metode Fishbone Analysis yang akan mengetahui bagian penyebab-penyebab mana saja yang sangat berpengaruh terhadap terjadinya Reject Start melebihi standar yang telah ditentukan oleh perusahaan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menurunkan Reject Start di Line Extruder Nomor 07. Dari hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa masalah Reject Start di Line Extruder 07 mengalami penurunan yakni sebelum perbaikan adalah 170 % menjadi 46,6 % setelah perbaikan

Abstract

Menu makanan bakar atau dipanggang banyak diminati di masyarakat dengan menu makanan bakar seperti ayam bakar, ikan bakar, daging panggang, bebek bakar, jagung bakar dan lain sebagainya. Akan tetapi setelah kami amati sering kali ditemukan panggangan dengan kualitas yang kurang baik, lebih cepat rusak serta rentan keropos atau berkarat dikarenakan bahan material yang kurang baik, serta rancangan dari produk panggangan yang sudah ada kurang fleksibel untuk dapat dibersihkan secara mudah dan cepat. Tujuan dalam penelitian merancang alat pemanggan menggunakan bahan material Plat Besi, dan ada bagian part atau komponen yang menggunakan bahan material Stainless Steel yang tidak mudah keropos atau berkarat serta tidak mudah rusak. Serta dilengkapi Mesin Pemantik untuk suplai bahan bakar gas untuk mempermudah dalam hal pengoperasiannya. Alat ini dibuat dengan tujuan untuk memberikan Tambahan Inovasi dengan mendesain serta merancang dan membuat alat panggangan bakaran dengan kualitas bahan material yang lebih baik dengan ukuran yang fleksibel. Dalam rancang bangun alat pemanggang berbahan bakar gas ini, diharapkan agar dapat menjadi salah satu pilihan atau solusi produk panggangan nantinya bagi masyarakat atau pengguna alat tersebut untuk digunakan dalam memanggang
