Abstract

ABSTRAK Kemajuan teknologi informasi yang pesat telah membawa perubahan besar dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk dunia pendidikan. Pendidikan pra-sekolah, sebagai fondasi awal perkembangan anak, perlu beradaptasi dengan kemajuan teknologi untuk memberikan pengalaman belajar yang optimal. Masa kanak-kanak, sering disebut "Golden Age," adalah periode perkembangan kognitif yang signifikan, sehingga diperlukan media pembelajaran yang efektif. Karena keterbatasan pengetahuan dan kompetensi yang dimiliki guru TK dalam membuat media pembelajaran menjadi menarik, Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat UniversitasSingaperbangsa Karawang mengadakan pelatihan pembuatan multimedia interaktif menggunakanPowerPoint bagi guru TK di Kabupaten Karawang. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pelatihan terdiri dari 4 tahap: penyajian materi dan diskusi konsep dasar PowerPoint, penjelasan langkah-langkah pembuatan media interaktif, praktik pembuatan media PowerPoint oleh peserta,serta evaluasi hasil karya dan kegiatan pelatihan. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 22 guru dari RA/TK AtTaqwa, Kecamatan Pakisjaya, Kabupaten Karawang pada tanggal11 Mei 2024. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menggunakan PowerPoint untuk menciptakan media pembelajaran interaktif. Berdasarkan hasil angket kepuasan peserta, secara keseluruhan kegiatan pelatihan ini berhasil memberikan manfaat yang signifikan bagi guruguru RA At Taqwa Kecamatan Pakisjaya, Kabupaten Karawang dalam meningkatkan keterampilan dan pengetahuan mereka dalam pembuatan multimedia interaktif menggunakan microsoft Powerpoint. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran, memberikan pengalaman belajar yang lebih menyenangkan bagi anak-anak, serta mempersiapkan mereka untuk jenjang pendidikan selanjutnya. ABSTRACT The rapid advancement of information technology has brought about major changes in various aspects of life, including education. Pre-school education, as the early foundation of child development, needs to adapt to technological advances to provide optimal learning experiences. Childhood, often called the "Golden Age," is a period of significant cognitive development, which requires effective learning media. Due to the limited knowledge and competence of kindergarten teachers in making learning media interesting, the Community Service Team of Singaperbangsa University of Karawang conducted training on making interactive multimedia using PowerPoint for kindergarten teachers in Karawang Regency. The method used in the training activitiesconsisted of 4 stages: presentation of material and discussion of the basic concepts of PowerPoint, explanation of the steps for making interactive media, practice of making PowerPoint media by participants, and evaluation of work results and training activities. The training was attended by 22 teachers from RA/TK At-Taqwa, Pakisjaya District, Karawang Regency on May 11, 2024. The results of the training showed an increase in teachers' knowledge and skills in using PowerPoint to create interactive learning media. Based on the results of the participant satisfaction questionnaire, overall this training activity succeeded in providing significant benefits for teachers of RA At Taqwa Pakisjaya District, Karawang Regency in improving their skills and knowledge in makinginteractive multimedia using Microsoft Powerpoint. This training is expected to improve the quality of learning, provide a more enjoyable learning experience for children, and prepare them for the next level of education.

Abstract

ABSTRAKKompetensi profesional seperti tertuang dalam Undang-undang Nomor 14 Tahun 2005 tentang Guru dan Dosen pasal 8 menuntut para guru untuk memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan untuk menjalankan profesi sekaligus beradaptasi dengan perubahan, salah satunya adalah adaptasi terhadap perkembangan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK). Namun, para guru diketahui enggan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan terkait penggunaan teknologi pembelajaran dan memiliki kompetensi TIK yang rendah. Permasalahan yang sama dihadapi oleh mitra yaitu rendahnya pengetahuan tentang penggunaan TIK pada proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menguatkan kapasitas profesional guru terkait penggunaan teknologi pembelajaran di SMK Bhinneka Karawang. Kegiatan diselenggarakan dalam bentuk diskusi terpumpun dan melibatkan 25 orang peserta. Topik diskusi terpumpun terdiri dari (1) Pembelajaran Abad ke-21, (2) Teacher Character Development dan (3) Guru profesional di era pendidikan abad ke-21. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini menunjukan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan guru tentang pentingnya kemampuan penggunaan TIK dalam pembelajaran berkategori sedang sebesar 0,54. Kata kunci: kompetensi profesional guru; pendidikan abad ke-21; teknologi pendidikan ABSTRACTProfessional competence as stated in Law Number 14 of 2005 article 8 about Teachers and Lecturers states that teachers must own knowledge and skills to carry out the profession and adapt with the changes. The world of education is constantly transforming, especially with the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the government's priority in the education digitization program. However, teachers are found to be reluctant to develop skills to use educational technology. The same problem occurs in SMK Bhinneka Karawang where teachers lack of knowledge on integrating ICT in the learning process. Therefore, this community service activity was carried out to strengthen the professional capacity of teachers regarding the use of education technology at SMK Bhinneka Karawang. The activity was held in the form of a focus group discussion and involved 25 participants. The topics for the discussion consist of (1) 21st Century Learning, (2) Teacher Character Development and (3) Professional teachers in the 21st century education era. The results of this community service activity showed an average increase in the average teacher's knowledge about the importance of the ability to use ICT in learning by 0.54. Keywords: 21st century education; teacher professional competence; education technology

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi keuangan, digital, dan kewirausahaan bagi pelaku Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) di Desa Pasir Kaliki, Kecamatan Rawamerta, Kabupaten Karawang. Permasalahan utama mitra meliputi rendahnya pemahaman dalam pencatatan keuangan, minimnya penggunaan media digital untuk pemasaran, serta lemahnya karakter wirausaha.Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif melalui tiga tahap pelatihan dan pendampingan, meliputi literasi keuangan, literasi digital, dan penguatan karakter kewirausahaan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan terhadap kemampuan mitra dalam membuat laporan keuangan sederhana, memanfaatkan media digital untuk promosi, serta perubahan sikap dan kedisiplinan dalam mengelola usaha. Berdasarkan hasil pre-test dan post-test, terjadi peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 47% pada literasi keuangan, 50% pada literasi digital, dan 42% pada karakter kewirausahaan. Temuan ini sejalan dengan berbagai penelitian terdahulu yang menunjukkan bahwa literasi dan karakter wirausaha berpengaruh terhadap kinerja UMKM (Lusardi & Mitchell, 2014; Sari & Putra, 2022). Program ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan kinerja usaha mitra serta memperkuat karakter kewirausahaan berbasis nilai-nilai tanggung jawab dan inovasi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of MSME literacy on the Character and performance of MSMEs in Karawang Regency. MSME literacy encompasses knowledge of finance, business, law, and technology, which is believed to shape entrepreneurial Character and enhance business performance. The study employed a quantitative approach, utilizing a survey method with 100 MSME players. Data were analyzed using multiple regression and mediation tests. The results showed that MSME literacy has a positive and significant effect on the Character and performance of MSMEs. In addition, the Character of MSMEs is proven to partially mediate the relationship between Literacy and performance. The implications of this study encourage the need for an MSME literacy improvement program that is integrated with entrepreneurial character development.

Abstract

Textbooks serve an important impact in molding students' learning outcomes, especially in terms of reading comprehension and cognitive skills. Recent research on Indonesian EFL textbooks, however, indicates that comprehension tasks are frequently dominated by lower level thinking skills (LOTS), with few possibilities for higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which LOTS and HOTS are reflected in the reading comprehension activities of the English for Nusantara textbook. A qualitative content analysis approach was used to assess 64 reading comprehension questions from five chapters using Bloom's Revised Taxonomy. The data suggest that LOTS are more prominently represented (64%), particularly at the remembering and comprehending levels, while HOTS appear to a lesser extent (36%) while analyzing and assessing activities. The generating level (C6) was missing from all chapters. Although the cognitive requirement gradually increased in later chapters, the overall distribution remained imbalanced, with LOTS dominating the majority of activities. Beyond description, these findings have practical ramifications. Teachers are encouraged to enhance their classroom practice by including HOTS-oriented activities such as debates, project-based learning, and creative writing projects to build evaluation and creation abilities. Textbook authors and curriculum developers, meanwhile, should redesign future editions to include a more balanced number of LOTS and HOTS, ensuring that comprehension exercises not only strengthen core literacy but also challenge students to think critically and creatively. By doing so, textbooks can better connect with the ideals of the Kurikulum Merdeka and the Profil Pelajar Pancasila.

Abstract

Abstrak Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan meningkatkan pemahaman guru terhadap materi TOEFL Structure and Written Expression, khususnya bagi guru di Kota Karawang. Metode pelaksanaan yang dilakukan adalah ceramah, praktik, diskusi dan tanya jawab. Mitra dalam kegiatan ini adalah SMP Nurul Falah Johar Karawang, yang berlokasi di Karawang Timur. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh enam orang peserta yang merupakan guru SMP di sekolah mitra. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui penyebaran angket kepuasan kepada peserta. Berdasarkan hasil angket kepuasan, peserta menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pelatihan sangat bernilai positif. Pada indikator kepuasan peserta terhadap pelaksanaan kegiatan, materi yang dibawakan, penyampaian materi, kesesuaian materi, sebanyak 5 peserta (83,3%) menyatakan sangat setuju dan 1 peserta (16,7%) setuju dengan alasan bahwa kegiatan ini memang memberikan dampak baik terhadap peningkatan skill TOEFL para guru di SMP Nurul Falah Johar Karawang.  Kegiatan ini juga dinilai dapat membantu meningkatnya pemahaman peserta terhadap struktur tata kalimat Bahasa Inggris dalam pengerjaan soal-soal TOEFL. Kata kunci: TOEFL; structure and written expression; pengabdian kepada masyarakat; guru SMP. AbstractThis Community Service Program was carried out with the aim of improving teachers’ understanding of the TOEFL Structure and Written Expression section, specifically for teachers in Karawang. The methods used in this program included lectures, practice sessions, discussions, and question-and-answer activities. The partner institution for this program was SMP Nurul Falah Johar Karawang, located in East Karawang. The activity was attended by six participants who are teachers at the partner school. The evaluation of the program was conducted through the distribution of satisfaction questionnaires to the participants. Based on the questionnaire results, participants indicated that the training provided highly positive value. Regarding indicators of participant satisfaction—such as program implementation, the delivered material, clarity of presentation, and relevance of the content—five participants (83.3%) strongly agreed and one participant (16.7%) agreed that the program had a beneficial impact on improving the TOEFL skills of teachers at SMP Nurul Falah Johar Karawang. The program was also considered helpful in enhancing participants’ understanding of English sentence structure for completing TOEFL questions. Keywords: TOEFL; structure and written expression; community service; junior high school teachers.

Abstract

English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education in Indonesia has grown in importance as a result of the global demand for English competence. Reading comprehension in junior high school is an important part of language development and academic accomplishment. This qualitative case study looks into the use of the Genre-Based Approach (GBA) in reading instruction at a public junior high school in Karawang, Indonesia. The study investigates how GBA helps students grasp different text genres and how teachers adjust this technique to meet classroom demands. Data were gathered through classroom observations in a Grade VII English class, as well as semi-structured interviews with one English teacher. Thematic analysis was performed to discover repeating patterns and contextual elements that affect GBA implementation. Findings show that teachers possess a solid understanding of GBA stages and apply them using curriculum-aligned materials such as English for Nusantara text book. The approach enhances students’ comprehension of text structure, communicative purpose, and critical thinking. However, challenges remain, including limited instructional time, varied student proficiency, and appropriate text selection.
