Abstract

The Philadelphian farmer livestock group located in Oesao village, Kupang regency was one of the centers of agricultural and livestock development in the district. This is because it was supported by a source of livelihood for the people, namely agriculture so that the availability of agricultural waste such as corn and rice straw were abundant. The purpose of this service-learning was to optimize the empowerment of agricultural waste to increase the productivity of cattle from the Philadelphian farmer livestock group. Based on the results of this activity, it was seen that there was an increase in the knowledge of these farmer livestock groups. This service-learning was expected to be able to increase understanding and independence so that the availability of feed can continue to be fulfilled in the Philadelphian farmer livestock group, Oesao, Kupang NTT.

Abstract

The prevention of COVID-19 widespread needs to be understood by the community, especially people who unfortunately have to work face to face with buyers, such as meat traders in local markets. It is important to ensure them understanding the prevention of COVID-19 so they can keep having income with a minimum chance of being infected by COVID-19. The purpose of this community service is to increase the awareness of pork trader group participation in Kasih Market, Naikoten, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province in preventing the COVID-19 widespread by doing physical distancing and wearing masks. The method of implementing this community service is the distribution of questionnaires (pretest and posttest form) and socialization. The pre-socialization questionnaire was given to know pork traders’ knowledge about physical distancing and mask usage. The socialization was delivered by explaining how to do correct physical distancing and mask usage. The post-socialization questionnaire was given as the indicator of the success of the community service. The questionnaire results showed a significant increase in pork traders’ understanding of physical distancing, from around 67% to 92%, and the understanding of masks usage, from around 42% to 92%. Therefore, it is hoped that the pork traders can apply the knowledge correctly and participate in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the market.

Abstract

The use of forages such as odot grass in making silage during the dry season can be increased to improve the quality of animal feed. Anaerobic storage techniques can be carried out so that cooling can run perfectly. This training was carried out with the aim of equipping and increasing the understanding and abilities and skills of the Sanggabetes Livestock Farmers Group, Holoama Village, Lobalain District, Rote Ndao in increasing the nutritional value of forage feed. The stages of community service activities begin with socialization followed by hands-on training and end with monitoring and evaluation activities. The results of this service activity indicate that there was interaction and discussion between the resource person and the participants during the climb. The trainees and the Rote Ndao Animal Husbandry Service hope to continue the collaboration that has been established with mentoring activities for the Sanggabetes Livestock Farmer Group, Holoama Village, Lobalain District, Rote Ndao and other farmer groups in Rote Ndao in the utilization of forage and rice straw for cattle and other rumenance.

Abstract

Bali cattle are native to Indonesia and are derivatives of wild cattle called banteng (Bos bibos or Bos sondaicus) which are found in Ujung Kulon, Java Island and have undergone a process of domestication. In general, the Balinese cattle raising system in NTT can be divided into 3, namely the extensive, intensive and semi-intensive rearing system. The appearance of cattle reproduction represents the quality of the maintenance management that has been carried out. The purpose of preparing this literature study is to determine the reproductive performance of Bali cattle on semi-intensive care farms and to determine age at first calving, days open, pregnancy rate, birth rate, and calving interval of Bali cattle in semi-intensive rearing. This literature study is obtained from collecting various reference sources using the Mendeley and Google Scholar applications. After being analyzed and evaluated, it is obtained that the reproductive performance of Balinese cattle on semi-intensive rearing farms can be seen from high fertility rates, variations in body weight at various levels of age, rearing systems, reproductive management and feeding management and age at first calving, average age at first calving of cows Bali is 1098 ± 12.0 days, days open Bali cattle have an average minimum condition at 121.5 days, the presentation of the pregnancy rate is still low, the percentage of birth rates each year has certain variations and the calving interval of Bali cattle on semi-intensive care farms is an average of 15 to 17 months.

Abstract

Honey is a thick, sweet-tasting liquid containing about 70-80% natural sugars, minerals, vitamins and enzymes. The content of 65% sugar is in the form of simple monosaccharides (fructose, glucose and sucrose). The high sugar content in honey can be used as a source of nutrients besides honey also acts as an antioxidant. This study aims to determine the antioxidants and other active substances in honey so that their addition to the diluent can maintain the quality of chicken semen during storage. This literature study was carried out through searching and collecting various literatures using Google Schoolar and PubMed then arranged using Mendeley. Sources of literature are scientific journals, scientific articles, Ebooks and seminar proceedings with "keywords" the effect of honey supplementation in diluent on the quality of chicken semen. Based on the results of the study, kalliandra honey is one of the best alternatives as antioxidants in chicken semen diluents, while the best honey level is 2%. The content of antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E and flavonoids in honey protects the sperm cell membrane of danger coldshock (cold shock), in addition to fructose and glucose can be made as a source of nutrients for spermatozoa during storage. The addition of honey in feed can improve the quality of chicken semen because it contains the minerals Zn (zinc), Se (selenium) and vitamins (E and C) which help in the process of spermatogenesis.

Abstract

Goats are ruminants that have considerable potential. The livestock population data in the province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has continued to increase from 2004 to 2018. The Artificial Insemination (AI) program has a function to improve genetic quality and livestock production. Extender is a mixture of various materials that can maintain the quality of spermatozoa in animal semen. Antioxidants to prevent the emergence of oxidant compounds in excess. The purpose of this literature study was to determine which semen extender has effectiveness in improving the quality of goat semen and the active substance that acts as an antioxidant as one of the substances that can improve the quality of the extender. The process of this literature study is carried out by searching and collecting various kinds of existing literature using Google Scholar, Google Patent, Pubmed then all existing references are compiled with the Mendeley application. Reference sources obtained are scientific journals, scientific articles/publications, e-books and national and international seminar proceedings by searching for "keywords" the effectiveness of using various types of extenders added with antioxidants on the quality of goat semen collected with a total of approximately 85 references. The results obtained from the literature study carried out are on the effectiveness of the semen extender, namely the more effective commercial extender, namely Andromed®, then the natural extender, namely guava leaves, while the compound extender is TGC+CLC (tris citrate glucose + Cholesterol Loaded). Cyclodextrin). Antioxidant active substances, both commercial and natural, that can increase the quality of goat semen, namely commercial antioxidants are Glutathione + 6 mM, while natural antioxidants are TKT (Egg Yolk Tris) + 4% Carrot Extract. The temperature and storage time of goat semen, the optimal temperature used for the equilibration time temperature is 5℃, at the cryopreservation temperature at -196℃, then at the optimal storage

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran sel vagina kambing kacang lokal (capra aegagrus) selama satu siklus estrus. Sampel diambil dari 10 ekor kambing kacang betina produktif dengan kisaran umur 12-18 bulan . Sampel di buat preparat ulas dengan motode roll, dan diwarnai dengan Giemsa ,dilakukan dengan jarak interval 24 jam diulang selama 20 hari. Hasil menunjukkan persebaran sel-sel kornifikasi, superfisial, intermediet ,sel parabasal dan leukosit selama 20 hari pengamatan. Kesimpulannya, panjang siklus estrus kambing kacang lokal (capra aegagrus) 17-20 hari dengan panjang tahapan proestrus 1-2 hari, estrus 1-2 hari, metestrus 3-5 hari dan diestrus 12-15 hari.

Abstract

One of feed preservation method in the form of an airtight silo (anaerobic) is silage. The addition of Lactic Acid Bacteria in rice straw can increase the quality and quantity of silage products. The purpose of this research is to determine whether the lactic acid bacteria isolated from palm sap can be used as a starter in making silage and to determine the level of damage and pH of jermai silage up to day 14. The stages of this method include: making probiotics, making silage with treatment: (P0: EM4; P1: BAL 50ml; P2: BAL 75ml; P3: BAL 100ml; P4: BAL 125ml; P5: BAL 150ml; P6: BAL 175ml). The results showed that lactic acid bacteria from palm sap can be used as a starter in rice straw, at P1 with the addition of 50 ml lactic acid bacteria showed better silage results when compared to other treatments, which was characterized by light brown silage quality ( golden yellow), soft texture, sour smell, 4.54% silage presentation damage and pH 5.

Abstract

Kualitas silase dipengaruhi berbagai faktor, di antaranya bakteri asam laktat sebagai starter dalam proses fermentasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh isolat bakteri asam laktat dari nira lontar dapat digunakan sebagai starter kualitas silase. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pembuatan probiotik, pembuatan silase dan pengujian kualitas silase. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 5 perlakuan yang diulang sebanyak 3 kali dan menggunakan bahan utama pembuatan silase yaitu seluruh tanaman jagung. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan dalam bentuk gambar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa silase berwarna hijau kecokelatan, memiliki aroma segar, adanya kerusakan silase kurang dari 1%, dan terjadi penurunan derajat keasaman (pH) pada perlakuan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bakteri asam laktat dari nira lontar yang digunakan sebagai starter memberikan efek yang baik terhadap kualitas silase jagung.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the ratio between the provision of Moringa to the physiological status (body temperature) of female goats. This research was conducted in the dryland field laboratory of the Nusa Cendana University, using 16 adult female goats, with a range of 6-7 months and body weight ranging from 10-12 kg. Goats were divided into 2 groups, namely groups using ammoniated grass and concentrate formulations combined with Moringa and without Moringa. The results showed that the body temperature of kacang goats that placed in individual cages with incentive maintenance patterns with cage adaptation for approximately 45 days, with a feeding pattern with no moringa concentrate and with moringa that given in the morning ranged from 38.8-39.0˚C and 38.7-39.2˚C. While in the afternoon, ranging from 38.7-39.2˚C and 38.7-39.0˚C. The conclusion is this body temperature was still in the normal range of body temperature for young female kacang goats.
