Abstract

Tanjungpinang Timur District is the most common district of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) every year. During the last 5 years deaths due to DHF always occur in Tanjungpinang Timur District. Need to trigger the community to participate in the activities of one house one larvae monitor (JUMANTIK) to eradicate mosquito breeding places at home. This community service activity aimed to motivate the community to participate in monitoring mosquito breeding sites through the responsibility of JUMANTIK by forming a task force called the school larvae detective (DETIK) and also having an active role in monitoring larvae in their homes. Community service was carried out with preliminary survey stages, situation analysis, getting to know and interacting with the school, stakeholder advocacy, conducting triggering to increase student participation to perform PSN and larvae monitoring, forming committees and members of detective detective, conducting technical guidance and evaluating and strengthening commitments in making changes in behavior. A special committee had been formed in the form of "Larvae Detective" at SMPN 12 Kota Tanjungpinang, which consists of students and School Health Unit (UKS) members. This committee is accompanied by the UKS supervisor with the task of monitoring larvae around the school once a week and motivating other students to be able to implement larvae monitoring at home on a regular basis.

Abstract

Tanjungpinang Timur Village is an endemic area, and every year there is a death rate due to dengue fever. This study aimed to map the resistance and presence of the dengue virus in Aedes sp mosquitoes in Pinang Kencana Village. This research was observational with a descriptive approach. The samples were mosquitoes bred in the Vector Laboratory of Poltekkes, Ministry of Health, Tanjungpinang, from eggs trapped in ovitraps distributed in the study area. A total of 78 ovitraps were placed inside the house, 45 were positive, while 45 positive ovitraps were placed outside the house out of a total of 84 ovitraps. Ovitrap index numbers outside (57.7%) and inside the house (53.6%) with an overall ovitrap index of 55.6%. The resistance test results using the CDC bottle bioassay method showed that Aedes sp mosquitoes from Pinang Kencana Village were resistant to the pesticide deltamethrin dose of 10 g/bottle with a diagnosis time of 30 minutes with a mosquito mortality percentage of 68.33%. The PCR results for dengue virus in the sample mosquitoes showed no presence of dengue virus in the mosquito samples, both DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4 serotypes.

Abstract

Measles is a highly contagious disease, the main cause of child mortality and is still a global pro-blem, including in Indonesia. During the period of 2015-2017, there were 129 cases of measles in Tanjungpinang City. Several studies had shown that there was a relationship between weather variables and the incidence of measles. This study aimed to determine the pattern of immuni-zation coverage, population density and weather variables (rainfall, air humidity, air temperature, and wind speed) on measles cases in Tanjungpinang City in 2010-2017. The study design was an ecological study with a spatial-temporal approach. The unit of analysis was a group of indi-viduals (aggregate) measuring exposure/risk factors for disease events by considering temporal factors or time at the population level. The study population is the administrative area of ??Tan-jungpinang City with the incidence of measles sufferers during the period 2010-2017. The data used were secondary data from related agencies. There was a relationship between the vari-ables of rainfall and air humidity with the incidence of measles per year in Tanjungpinang City in the period 2010-2017. While the variable average air temperature, minimum air temperature, maximum air temperature, and wind speed, were not related to the incidence of measles. Dis-trict/City or Provincial Health Offices need to use weather variable data in terms of surveillance measures for measles for mitigation and early vigilance towards increased incidence of measles, especially during the rainy season each year.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the relationship of the type and condition of the container environment to the existence of Aedes sp larvae in Tanjungpinang Timur District. Methods: An observational study with a cross-sectional approach involved 401 houses with containers in Tanjungpinang Timur District, Tanjungpinang City. Data on the existence of larvae was performed using the single larvae method. Data on container type and container environmental conditions (water pH, water temperature, air temperature, air humidity) and the presence of larvae were collected by observing and measuring. Results: 863 containers were observed, 138 of them (15.99%) were found larvae of Aedes sp, containers inside the house (65.57%), and not closed (88.53%). The types of containers were controllable sites (95.13%), disposable sites (3.36%), and under controllable sites (1.51%). The results of the measurement of water pH (76.13%) and water temperature (82.73%) of the containers were categorized as good. Container temperature 98.38% showed results with a range of unfavorable conditions (<200C &> 300C) and air humidity of 99.07% with a range (<81.5% &> 89.5%). Type, location, condition of container closure, water pH, water temperature, and air temperature of containers were related to the presence of larvae in Tanjungpinang Timur District (p value <0.05), while the variable humidity was not related to the existence of larvae. Conclusion: Physical environmental factors strongly support the reproduction of DHF vectors in the East Tanjungpinang District. It is necessary to increase public knowledge and routine home eradication of mosquito nests (PSN), especially controllable site containers widely used as water reservoirs.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is still a public health problem in Indonesia. The number of sufferers and the area of their distribution is increasing along with the increasing mobility and population density. The purpose of this study was to compare the number of eggs trapped in the ovitrap using rainwater and PDAM water. This type of research was a quasi-experimental design with a post-test-only design. Determination of the sampling location was done by determining the point of the house of DHF sufferers and their surroundings. The total number of eggs trapped in the ovitrap was 3829 eggs. The number of rainwater ovitraps (2279) traps more Aedes spp mosquito eggs than PDAM water ovitraps (1553). Ovitrap index of 61% in this study was included in the level 4 category or high above 40%. The results of the Mann-Whitney analysis with p-value = 0.637 > 0.05 means that it did not showed a significant difference between the number of eggs trapped in the rainwater ovitrap and PDAM water. There was no difference in the average number of eggs in rainwater and PDAM water ovitrap media. The community of RT 2 and RT 3 RW 1 are expected to always carry out the Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) movement at least once a week to reduce the proliferation of the DHF vector.

Abstract

R is a programming language, open-source, developed by various of the world's most active statisticians with powerful function and visualization for data analysis from simple to complex data such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. Data visualization technologies have the ability to assist public health professionals with decision-making. Visualization appears to help decision making by increasing the quantity of information communicated and reducing the cognitive and intellectual strain of processing information. There are numerous commercially available statistical software packages that are widely utilized by epidemiologists worldwide. For industrialized nations, the price of software is not a significant issue. However, for underdeveloped nations, the true expenses are frequently excessive. Some academics in developing nations rely on software that has been illegally copied a copy of the software program. There are several benefits to using R, including the possibility of using software packages for free (open source) and the volume and availability of software packages. It is simple to retain and repeat commands on the same data analysis with multiple data frames, facilitating the work of health monitoring officers who frequently analyze data with similar variables but at different times.
