Abstract

This research aims to know the effect of guided discovery method in increasing the students’ mathematical problem solving ability. The type of the research is quantitative with pre experimental design. The experiment used was one group pretest-posttest design. The samples were taken from class VIID which consisted of 30 students, randomly selected from 5 existed classes. The type of the data of this research was premier data. The data collection was done by using tests, each consisted of 5 analysis questions. The technique of analyzing data was t-test showed that and at a significant level 5% which means that . Therefore, H0 was refused and Ha was accepted. Hence, a conclusion could be drawn that there was a significant effect in using guided discovery method in increasing the students’ mathematical problem solving ability.

Abstract

The environment can become a source of learning in a process of mathematical learning related to the real world. One source learning in the environment is cultural. Mathematical lessons that studied educated participants at school are sometimes different to important transatic problems that encountered in everyday life, makes it more difficult learning participants linking the links of furatic concepts that are formal with issues of culture. Etnomathematics connects cultures with mathematics learning. The purpose of this research is to obtain the description of the value of the impostor’s value and growing up to the cultural society of Waibalun. This type of research is a qualitative research with the Etnographic design. Data collection by observation, interviews and documentation. The subject in this study is three person taken Purposive against public figures who learn and understand well about indigenous homes. The object of this research is the Waibalun indigenous home. The results of data analysis show that a) Etnomathematical activity in the process of making Waibalun indigenous homes, that is measuring, counting and designing; b) The mathematical values were found in the Waibalun indigenous home consist of, the angle, rectangle, triangle, trapezium, tube and reflections.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of students' mathematical dispositions on mathematical problem solving abilities of students in class VII of SMP. The type of research used is quantitative. The sample in this study was class VII A, amounting to 30 people who were selected using simple random sampling from 6 existing classes. The type of data in this research is primary data with data collection used using a disposition questionnaire consisting of 28 items and tests consisting of 5 items of description. Testing the hypothesis in this study using a simple regression test. After the data is analyzed the regression equation is obtained as follows: Y = 16,312 + 0.523X. before testing the hypothesis, the data normality test and linearity test were carried out. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the t-test = 3.296 with significance = 0.003 and table = 2.048. then t count = 3.296> 2.048 = t table means that data is normally distributed. To see the achievement of the disposition indicators of junior high school students in the junior high school class, the average of each indicator is calculated and the achievement of the mathematical disposition indicator is 50.08%. Whereas for grouping mathematical dispositions, problem solving abilities obtained the highest dispositions having an average of 63.04, moderate dispositions having an average of 43.56, and low dispositions having an average of 40.51. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an influence of mathematical disposition on mathematical problem solving abilities of students of junior high school class.

Abstract

The research aims to get an overview about the ability of students in solving mathematical problem based on their emotional intelligence. This is qualitative research with a case study design. The subjects of this research were seventh-grade students who has high emotional intelligence, consisting of a student from catholik junior high school in Kefamenanu and one students from state secondary school in Kota Kupang, They were obtained using purposive. The data were collected using a questionnaire of emotional intelligence, a mathematical problem-solving task, and a interview sheet. The analysis of what is obtained from both subjects, being the high crossing of catholik junior high school students Kefamenanu, it is obtained from cross-leg’s ability: students can understand the matter, make quick plans, to implement completion plans and examine back. The state junior high school in Kupang have the ability of low-vang problems acquired from abilities of emerging problems: students cannot understand matter, students are less able to create completion plans and students cannot examine the return settlement sequences

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy and teacher social support on mathematics learning achievement of class VII students of one of the Private SMP in Kupang city social arithmetic material. The type of research used is quantitative with the statistical analysis used in this study, namely multiple regression analysis. The sample in this study is class VII A, amounting to 25 people randomly selected from 4 existing classes. The type of data in this research is primary data with data collection used, namely questionnaires and achievement test questions. Technical data analysis in this study used multiple regression analysis. Based on the partial test results on self efficacy showed that = 3.164> 1.71 = , teacher social support obtained = 2.954> 1.71 = , then with a significant level of 5% there is a partial effect on self-efficacy and social support teacher. Furthermore, the simultaneous test shows that = 55,176 and at a significant level of 5% which means that = 55,176 > 3,44 = , then there is a simultaneous influence on teacher self-efficacy and social support . So, it was found that self-efficacy and social support of teachers had a significant influence on mathematics learning achievement both partially and simultaneously. Thus, it was concluded that there was an effect of teacher self-efficacy and social support on students' mathematics learning achievement. The coefficient of determination (R Square) = 0.834. This means that 83.40% of the variation in mathematics learning achievement can be explained by variations in the two variables, namely self-efficacy and teacher social support. Meanwhile, 16.60% is influenced by other variables.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa pada materi operasi vektor melaui pendekatan reciprocal teaching. Subyek dalam penelitian ini yaitu peserta didik Kelas X IPA SMA Santa Angela Atambua yang berjumlah 12 orang. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peniliti menggunakan beberapa instrumen, antara lain: lembar observasi kemampuan guru mengelola pembelajaran; lembar penilaian respons peserta didik, dan tes. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Hasil analisis data pada siklus 1, menunjukkan bahwa secara umum terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar siswa walaupun peningkatan tersebut dalam kategori rendah (nilai N-gain = 0,283); Kemampuan guru mengelola pembelajaran dalam kategori cukup baik; dan respon peserta didik dalam kategori kurang baik. Hasil analisis data pada siklus 2, menunjukkan adannya peningkatan penguasaan akan konsep matematik dan peningkatan tersebut dalam ketegori sedang (nilai N-gain: 0,584); Kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran dalam kategori baik dan respon peserta didik dalam kategori baik. Dengan demikian, kami menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan reciprocal teaching dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar matematik siswa khususnya pada materi operasi vektor, meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran dan juga dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika khususnya pada materi operasi vektor.

Abstract

Props are aids used to ease students understand well the mathematical concepts explained by the teacher. The elementary school level requires real concepts so that in concretizing abstract concepts the teacher should be able to use props to explain the concept. The purposes of the community service are teachers are able to produce props in learning activities and can instill basic concepts so that they are able to solve commonly faced problems in learning activities. The method used is a practical method. This community service was carried out at SD GMIT Koro’oto, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Based on the evaluation result of the community service, it shows that teachers participated actively in the activity shown by their responses and interactions. In addition, the teachers felt the importance of this training because they gained a lot of new knowledge in solving every problem in learning activities and were able to produce props that could help explain basic concepts to students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa SMP kelas VIII dalam menyelesaikan soal bangun datar khususnya persegi panjang dan jajargenjang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, tes dan wawancara. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulan data berupa soal tes berpikir kreatif dan pedoman wawancara. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah dua siswa yang berkemampuan tinggi. Indikator berpikir kreatif yang digunakan meliputi kefasihan (fluency), fleksibilitas (flexibility) dan kebaruan (novelty). Hasil penelitian disimpulkan berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan berpikir kreatif (TBK). Hasil penelitian menunjukan subjek hanya dapat memenuhi kedua indikator (kefasihan, fleksibilitas), sehingga digolongkan berada pada TBK 3 (kreatif).

Abstract

This Community Service aims to train teachers in conducting Classroom Action Research and assist them in writing scientific articles resulting from CAR. The implementation of this training and mentoring activity was carried out in a blended (online and offline) manner which was attended by 55 teachers with details: 11 Kindergarten teachers, 21 teachers at the elementary school level, 12 teachers at the junior high school level, and 11 teachers at the elementary school level. High School level. Based on the results of observations and discussions with partners, the Community Service Team carried out assistance activities in two stages, namely: 1) strengthening the concept of CAR and Scientific Work; and 2) assistance in writing CAR scientific papers. The output of this activity is an increase in the knowledge and skills of teachers in doing CAR. Based on the results of the evaluation carried out, the teachers felt very helpful with this training and mentoring activity. In addition to increasing teachers' knowledge of CAR concepts, this activity also improves the skills of teachers in designing and implementing CAR through useful activities, setting goals and benefits, making theoretical frameworks, selecting methods, compiling instruments, collecting and analyzing data, and writing articles

Abstract

This research aimed to explore and explore the mathematical elements that grow and develop in the culture of the Boti tribe from a geometric perspective. The research design used was ethnography which consists of 6 stages, namely: selection of ethnographic objects, submission of ethnographic questions, data collection, data recording, data analysis, and writing of the final report. The research instruments used were interview guidelines and observation guidelines. The subjects in this research were Usif Boti as the main informant along with several family members who also acted as translators. The results of the research showed that ethnomathematics can be found in the lopo construction process, including: measuring side lengths using fathoms units, as well as determining the equal distance between the four commander's pillars and making a circular roof lopo using a special technique specially developed by the Boti people and has been passed down from generation to generation. Geometry concepts such as the properties and area of flat shapes are also integrated into the Lopo Boti shape.
