Abstract

The risk of accidents and occupational diseases is difficult to avoid, one of which is in fabrication companies because workers are in direct contact with objects and heavy equipment during work. One of the work areas that is at high risk of accidents and occupational diseases is the blasting and painting area. The objectives of this study are: (1) to identify potential hazards and possible risks (2) to control the risks of each process activity to ensure that the work is in a safe condition. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach method with risk analysis using job hazard analysis. The results of the study identified 52 potential hazards and risks with 9 types of hazards, namely psychological hazards, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fire hazards, blasting hazards, physical hazards, chemical hazards, biological hazards, and ergonomic hazards derived from 7 classifications of processes or work stages in the blasting and painting work area. Prevention and control efforts are carried out to reduce the risk as a whole by using a hierarchy of control.

Abstract

Pernikahan dini merupakan salah satu permasalahan sosial yang masih banyak terjadi di Indonesia. Dalam kasus tingginya angka pernikahan dini, Kabupaten Jember menjadi peringkat 2 se Jawa Timur, yang mana sebanyak 1.357 remaja Kabupaten Jember mengajukan dispensasi nikah pada tahun 2022. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa KKN-BBK 2 Universitas Airlangga bekerja sama dengan pihak SMA Argopuro Panti untuk melakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat mengenai pentingnya pencegahan pernikahan dini. Tujuan kegiatan tersebut adalah 1) Sebagai upaya penurunan kasus pernikahan dini di Kabupaten Jember; 2) Menyadarkan siswa-siswi akan risiko pernikahan dini bagi aspek kehidupan; 3) Meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa-siswi akan pentingnya pencegahan pernikahan dini; dan 4) Terjadinya penurunan masalah sosial yang berkaitan dengan risiko pernikahan dini. Metode sosialisasi melibatkan media powerpoint (PPT) dan sebuah video film pendek. Hasil dari kegiatan tersebut yaitu adanya peningkatan pengetahuan pada siswa-siswi SMA Argopuro Panti. Dengan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan, diharapkan dapat menurunkan ksus pernikahan dini di Desa Panti, Kecamatan Panti, Kabupaten Jember.

Abstract

Background: Compared to manufacturing industry, construction has a unique characteristic. These characteristics cause construction projects to have dangerous conditions and make them vulnerable to an occupational accident. Purpose: To analyze the influence of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management on the building construction workers' safety behavior at construction service company Surabaya. Method: This research classification is observational and a cross-sectional research with analytic nature. This research is conducted over 4 months. The research sample amounted to 53 workers. Its dependent variable is safety behavior (OHS behavior) with the top manager's commitment, OHS procedure regulation, communication, worker's competency, interpersonal relationship and physical hazard as its independent variables. Data is descriptively analyzed in the form of a frequency table and cross-tabulation. A statistical test is performed by using the chi-square test with α=0.05. Result: Management commitment (p-value=0.001) and OHS procedure regulation (p-value=0.029) significantly affect the safety behavior implementation to the worker. Conclusion: Two Independent variables which affect the safety behavior of the building construction worker at construction service company Surabaya ware management commitment (X1) and OHS procedure regulation (X2). The regulation of OSH procedures must be communicated, promoted to workers, and supervision of workers can be increased as a form of good commitment and given support by providing rewards for workers who have implemented safe behavior properly and providing punishment for workers who conduct unsafe behavior.

Abstract

Background: The movement of coal or other activities in the stockpile area of a steam power plant can create a coal dust hazard or commonly referred to as respirable dust. The smaller the particle size, the more harmful effects it can have on human health, such as bronchitis, decreased lung function, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Coal Worker's Pneumoconiosis (CWP), and other respiratory diseases. Purpose: To study the chemical hazards of the working environment of coal dust and the control efforts conducted in the stockpile area of a steam power plant company. Method: This research was descriptive observational with a cross-sectional study. The data were comprised of primary data collected from interviews and observations, and secondary data such as environmental measurement report and documentations owned by company. Result: The results of the measurement of coal dust hazard in the stockpile are were 0.007 mg/m3 and 0.063 mg/m3 for personal dust measurements. Some of the coal-dust-hazard control efforts performed by PT. POMI included the installation of a spray gun, a dust suppression system, reforestation, and ventilation setting. Further, OHS induction was conducted, together with safety talk, working hour regulations, toolbox meeting, training on the use of PPE, Medical Check Up (MCU), person authorization, preventive maintenance, and the use of PPE by workers. Conclusion: The measurement of the coal dust hazard in the stockpile area is below the threshold value which is 3 mg/m3 for respirable particles and 10 mg/m3 for inhalable particles. PT. POMI has done several preventive and control efforts towards coal dust hazard, and there were no health problems found in workers.

Abstract

Work accidents are unplanned, uncontrolled and unwanted events that can be caused by substandard actions at work. Substandard action is defined as individual action that has the potential to cause work accidents. This research aims to see the relationship between work factors (supervision and availability of workers' PPE) on substandard action. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a cross sectional study design. The population of this study was all 30 employees of PT X's fabrication division. Meanwhile, the research sample uses a total population technique, which means that the research sample is all 30 workers in the fabrication division. Data collection uses primary data by filling out questionnaires on supervision variables, availability of PPE, and substandard action. In addition, data collection also uses secondary data in the form of company profiles and work accident data. Data calculations are assisted by the SPSS 21 application through the contingency coefficient test (c). The research results show that there is a significant relationship between the supervision variable and substandard action with a coefficient value of 0.503. Apart from that, the research results also show that there is a weak relationship between the variable availability of worker PPE and substandard action with a coefficient value of 0.137. Job factors have an influence on workers' substandard actions. Supervision is a benchmark for taking action that can support the expected achievements. Lack of supervision can be a cause of work accidents. Apart from that, the availability of PPE is also an important thing to pay attention to to maintain the health and safety of workers. If the availability of PPE for workers is not optimal, work accidents will occur.

Abstract

Industri yang terus berkembang mengharuskan kerja sama antara manusia dan mesin yang berisiko penyakit akibat kerja dan kecelakaan kerja pada pekerja. Manajemen risiko yang optimal dapat melalui penyusunan HIRARC yang sesuai di tempat kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi potensi bahaya dan pengendalian risiko menggunakan HIRARC pada proses pekerjaan cutting dan marking di PT. X Surabaya. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif observasional dengan pendekatan crossectional study. Lokasi penelitian pada unit cutting dan marking PT. X Surabaya. Hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan mengalikan nilai tingkat kemungkinan dan nilai tingkat keparahan bahaya yang ditemukan di unit penelitian tersebut. Berdasarkan keseluruhan hasil HIRARC menunjukkan potensi bahaya proses pekerjaan pada tingkat risiko sangat mendesak (cutting=12 & marking=10) dan tingkat risiko tidak dapat ditoleransi (cutting=3 & marking=2). Oleh karena itu, secara keseluruhan hasil HIRARC diperlukan adanya pengendalian risiko berdasarkan hirearchy of control berupa eliminasi, substitusi, rekayasa teknik, administratif, dan alat pelindung diri yang sesuai di tempat kerja.

Abstract

Postur kerja merupakan posisi tubuh selama melakukan aktivitas kerja. Postur tubuh yang tidak ergonomis dapat mengakibatkan risiko kesehatan salah satunya gangguang muskuloskeletal. PT. X Surabaya yang bergerak di bidang konstruksi dan fabrikasi memiliki proses kerja di mesin bending yang sering mengharuskan pekerja untuk bekerja dengan postur kerja yang kurang ergonomis. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode RULA dan REBA untuk mengetahui tingkat risiko pada pekerja di mesin bending. Hasil yang didapatkan dengan menggunakan metode RULA memiliki skor 6 dengan kategori sedang yang berarti perlu adanya tindakan perubahan dalam waktu dekat sedangkan hasil dari metode REBA memiliki skor 4 dengan kategori sedang yang berarti memerlukan tindakan perubahan.

Abstract

Pekerja las terpapar radiasi ultraviolet yang berisiko menyebabkan fotokeratitis. Tingkat pengetahuan yang baik pada pekerja merupakan aspek yang penting untuk mengurangi risiko tersebut. Edukasi buku saku dilakukan agar dapat memberikan pemahaman pekerja mengenai bahaya dan upaya pencegahan fotokeratitis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak edukasi buku saku sebagai upaya peningkatan pengetahuan pekerja dalam mencegah terjadinya fotokeratitis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen. Responden yang terlibat adalah seluruh 45 pekerja pengelasan yang ada di perusahaan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara melakukan tes awal (pre-test) dan tes akhir (post-test) setelah pekerja mendapatkan edukasi buku saku tersebut. Data hasil tes awal dan tes akhir pada pekerja dibandingkan persentasenya untuk mengetahui rata-rata tingkat pengetahuan pekerja. Rata-rata tingkat pengetahuan seluruh pekerja memperoleh nilai tes awal sebesar 65 dan nilai tes akhir 80. Tingkat pengetahuan pekerja merupakan faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan dalam upaya pencegahan kejadian fotokeratitis. Pekerja yang mengetahui bahaya dan risiko serta pentingnya menggunakan pelindung mata saat melakukan pengelasan cenderung tidak merasakan adanya keluhan mata fotokeratitis.

Abstract

Up to the end of 2012, Social Security showed the occurence of 103.074 work accident cases. 91.21% of the accident casualties were recovered, 3.8% were disabled, 2.61% partially disabled, and the rest died (2.419 cases) and were totally-permanently disabled (37 cases), with the average of 282 work accident cases per day. Due to the increasingly tight corporate climate, the company tries to make production cost efficiency (cost of production). One solution that may be taken is by applying outsourcing system. With this system, the company may save expenses in funding human resources (HR) who work in the company concerned. If the aspects of the application of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) are not properly managed, the possibility of work accidents and environmental pollution that have a negative effect on the corporate image and the continuity of company product supply will increase. This may affect the company's loss, both material and corporate image. The role and responsibility of the safety officer is very influential on the achievement of zero accident, so many safety programs are developed, such as safety briefing and safety patrol, with the aim to improve the aspect of OSH. However, some employees have not complied with the provisions of OSH implementation in the company they work at.

Abstract

Penerapan Behavior Based Safety menjadi penting dalam industri untuk meningkatkan kepatuhan terhadap prosedur keselamatan dan mengurangi risiko kecelakaan kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi BBS serta faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan unsafe behavior pada pekerja di Bagian Gudang PT X Sidoarjo. Faktor yang dianalisis meliputi predisposing factors (awareness, persepsi, pengetahuan, dan motivasi), enabling factor (ketersediaan APD), dan reinforcing factor (peran pengawas safety). Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan metode observasional. Sampel penelitian adalah seluruh pekerja Bagian Gudang PT X Sidoarjo yang berjumlah 47 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi spearman untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara faktor-faktor yang diteliti dengan unsafe behavior. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara unsafe behavior dan awareness (r=-0,878, p<0,001), persepsi (r=-0,461, p=0,001), pengetahuan (r=-0,850, p<0,001), motivasi (r=-0,431, p=0,002), ketersediaan APD (r=-0,699, p<0,001), serta peran pengawas safety (r=-0,500, p<0,001). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi faktor-faktor tersebut, semakin rendah tingkat unsafe behavior pekerja. Berdasarkan analisis implementasi BBS, ditemukan bahwa program keselamatan kerja di Bagian Gudang PT X Sidoarjo telah sesuai dengan regulasi yang berlaku. Namun, masih terdapat peluang perbaikan dalam penerapan BBS dengan mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan unsafe behavior.
