Abstract

During pregnancy, there is an increase in blood volume (hypervolemia) in pregnant women, which requires an adequate supply of iron during pregnancy. Pregnant women who suffer from anemia have the opportunity to experience bleeding during childbirth. The most common cause of anemia is deficiency of nutrients such as folic acid and vitamin B12, and about 75% of anemia in pregnancy is caused by iron deficiency. One way to be able to fulfill iron can be done by consuming lots of vegetables, one of which is red spinach. Red spinach is a plant that contains vitamin C, folic acid and iron so that it can prevent anemia in pregnant women. This study aims to determine the effect of red spinach jus  on hemoglobin levels in third trimester pregnant women at Pinggir Public Health Center, Pinggir District, Bengkalis Regency. This research was conducted in Agustus 2024. The design of this study was to use the One group pre test post test design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling. The number of samples as many as 20 people. Measurement of Hemoglobin Levels using Hb test. Giving red spinach jus once a day as much as 100 ml  for 14 days. The results of the dependent T test showed that the average hemoglobin level increased from 9.765 to 10, 870  with a difference of 1.10 g/dl. Bivariate analysis showed that the results of the t-dependent statistical test were obtained (p = 0.000) < (0.05) so that red spinach jus had an effect on increasing the frequency of Hb in third trimester pregnant women at Pinggir Public Health Center, Pinggir District, Bengkalis Regency.Consuming red spinach jus is expected to prevent anemia in pregnant women which is useful in the growth and development of the fetus during pregnancy. Keywords: anemia, pregnancy, red spinach jus

Abstract

Diseases, both infectious and non-communicable, result from complex interactions between the host, the disease agent, and the environment. The epidemiological triad model serves as a fundamental framework for understanding disease transmission, identifying risk factors, and developing more effective prevention and control strategies. This article explores how the interplay between host, agent, and environment contributes to disease epidemiology and its relevance to both infectious and non-infectious diseases. In infectious diseases, agents such as viruses, bacteria, and parasites rely on environmental conditions and host immunity to thrive. Environmental factors such as sanitation, climate, and population density play a crucial role in determining the rate of disease transmission. Conversely, in non-communicable diseases, the agents are not microorganisms but risk factors like unhealthy diets, stress, and exposure to harmful substances. Environmental aspects such as urbanization, air pollution, and socioeconomic conditions also influence the occurrence of chronic diseases. Understanding the host-agent-environment model is essential for formulating public health policies. Environmental-based approaches, health regulations, and evidence-based medical interventions are key to future disease control efforts. This study emphasizes the need for a more holistic and multidisciplinary approach to address the increasingly dynamic global health challenges.

Abstract

Abstract: Classes for pregnant women are one of the strategic programs in an effort to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of pregnant women towards safe and healthy delivery. However, the level of participation of pregnant women in this class is still relatively low in various regions, especially in the Sebangar Health Center area. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence pregnant women's visits to pregnant women's classes in the Sebangar Health Center working area. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken by sample random sampling who were registered at the Sebangar Health Center from October to December 2023. Respondents of this study were 92 pregnant women taken by sample random sampling technique. Data were obtained through questionnaires. Data analysis with computerized univariate and bivariate with Chi-Square test (p≤0.05). The results showed 56.5% of pregnant women did not participate in maternity classes. The results of bivariate analysis showed there was a relationship between knowledge (p value = 0.000), mother's attitude (p value = 0.000), husband's participation (p value = 0.000) and the role of health workers (p value = 0.000), with the visit of pregnant women in attending maternity classes at Sebangar Health Center. Conclusion There is a relationship between knowledge, attitude, husband's participation and the role of health workers on the participation of mothers in maternity classes. Suggestions for health workers need to increase socialization to pregnant women about the importance of participating in maternity classes. Provide more interesting, innovative and adaptive material, and create a whatshapp group so that mothers get information about maternal health and the schedule of maternity classes. Advocate to the government, especially Sebangar Village, to facilitate classes for pregnant women. Keywords: Classes for pregnant women, knowledge, mother's attitude, husband's participation and role of health workers.

Abstract

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases in Indonesia. Blood glucose control is essential to prevent complications; therefore, identifying associated factors is crucial. Objective: To determine the factors associated with random blood glucose (RBG) levels among T2DM patients enrolled in the Prolanis program at Jatinegara Health Center in 2025. Methods: This study employed an analytical cross-sectional design involving 92 T2DM Prolanis patients. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, and medical records. Data analysis included univariate, bivariate (chi-square), and multivariate (logistic regression). Results: Most respondents had normal RBG levels (80.4%), were female (76.1%), aged >60 years (56.5%), and had a family history of diabetes (57.6%). Non-modifiable factors (sex, age, family history) and modifiable factors (BMI, knowledge, stress, fiber intake, and physical activity) were not significantly associated with RBG levels (p>0.05). However, carbohydrate consumption patterns emerged as the dominant factor increasing the risk of hyperglycemia (OR=4.08; 95% CI=0.869–19.171). Conclusion: Carbohydrate consumption pattern was identified as the dominant factor associated with random blood glucose levels among T2DM Prolanis patients at Jatinegara Health Center. Nutritional interventions and education on low-glycemic index diets should be strengthened to improve glycemic control.
