Abstract

Abstract[Product Engineering and Feasibility Analysis of Investment of The Development Water Surface Coating Products on Closets] The success of selling a product goes hand-in-hand with the product design on the market. To effectively create a competitive product for the market requires a great deal of product planning, design, and development. In preparing the product development plan will also requires an extended analysis of costs and investment value that will be carried out in the future. This study aims to develop a concept for making a product prototype by considering the consumer's voice (VoC) and measuring the investment value of a coating liquid product for toilet water’s surface to minimize the smell of feces. Product design is one of the most important stages in starting a business selling products. Product design in accordance with consumer demand comes from consumer needs. Therefore, the product engineering study uses Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method, whereas the investment feasibility study uses Cost of Goods Sold (CoGS), Profit and Loss Analysis (P&L), Payback Period (PP), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Profitability Index (PI). The next step is specifying market segmentation and followed with distributing initial questionnaire to 24 people to determine what kinds of attribute will be selected as a voice of consumer’s. Then, all of the attributes will be grouped into 5 customer’s requirements characteristics which are scent, design, portability, effectiveness, and price. The design characteristic has strongest relation with technical response of logo and packaging color with weight value of 42.336. In product development, material proportion is prioritized, followed by logo design, color, product’s size, and types of ingredients. The result of investment feasibility study are 8.63 for payback period, Rp 10.612.209,- for projected NPV at 10th period, and 22,32% IRR. This becomes the the basis of reasoing why investment is feasible.    Keywords: Product Development; Quality Function Deployment; Investment Feasibility Analysis; Product Design

Abstract

The growing market share of electric vehicles in Indonesia aligns with the government's initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the adoption of electric vehicles to 30% of the total vehicle fleet by 2035. The constrained range of electric vehicles and the need for charging station accessibility present difficulties to efficient route planning. This study examines the Electric Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (E-VRPTW), taking into account consumer demands and time constraints. Two battery charging strategies are assessed: full recharge (EVRPTW-FR) and partial recharge (EVRPTW-PR), employing the nearest neighbor heuristic algorithm for route optimization. The result indicates that the partial recharge strategy generates a lower total cost than the full recharge strategy, reaching a cost reduction of 13.14%. The partial recharge strategy requires fewer vehicles to serve all customers, thus lowering vehicle investment costs.

Abstract

In developing countries, low employment rates lead to manual material handling due to low labor costs. This article analyzes the impact of transitioning from semi-manual to fully automatic material handling systems by replacing the hand pallet system with AGV for transporting materials on the production floor. A simulation model was created to evaluate the impact of the transition on cost and quality. The model focuses on production lines with predetermined pathways and fixed working hours for workstations. The discrete event simulation was developed using ExtendSim. Queuing theory model is employed to assess the utilization of resources within the system. Three scenarios are developed: a human system, systems with 2 AGVs, and 3 AGVs.The findings suggest that systems with AGVs surpass human-operated systems in terms of system reliability, cost-effectiveness, and product excellence. The findings provide essential insights for management decision-making, specifically for deterministic production lines. The research findings emphasize the possibility of significant enhancements in production system performance by implementing autonomous material handling.

Abstract

Background: Many MSMEs in Indonesia struggle to comply with the packaging label standards from the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM). The root of this problem is knowledge gaps among MSME owners about labeling standards. Contribution:  This community services program contributes to enhance awareness of BPOM-compliant food packaging among MSMEs through counseling programs.  This program differs from previous counseling programs by incorporating digital aids, specifically in redesigning packaging that complies with BPOM standards. Method: Thirty participants attended an interactive discussion and counseling session in Purwodiningratan Village, Surakarta. Using visual aids and digital packaging design examples to show compliance, the session discussed BPOM's standards. Semi-structured interviews and post-session assessments were done to assess influence; descriptive analysis was then used for interpretation. Results:  Showed that 80% of the participants engaged actively in conversations, and 70% desired to implement what they learned in the counseling session. Conclusion: The counseling session increased participants' understanding of standard food packaging regulations and shifted their perceptions. Early signs of behavioral change supported the efficiency of participatory counseling in improving MSMEs' compliance with regulations.

Abstract

Abstract

Semarang faces congestion issues in land transportation, prompting the city government to introduce feeder buses connecting lower-demand areas to major transit hubs. The preliminary survey found that the number of passengers increased steadily. However, the increase in this number was accompanied by an increase in the number of passengers’ complaints. Thus, this study attempts to measure passenger satisfaction using the Consumer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and evaluates operational performance with the Importance and Performance Analysis (IPA) method. The literature review identified 14 aspects to measure passenger satisfaction, covering 28 attributes. Aspects needing improvement in quadrant I of the IPA analysis include vehicle condition, driver competency, and promptness of service providers in addressing complaints. Recommendations for improvement include adjusting departure intervals during peak and off-peak hours, implementing driver evaluation programs, conducting regular fleet inspections, and fostering customer engagement through forums.

Abstract

Developing an agro-eco-industrial park based on the tofu industry must consider the balance of each agro-industry's production capacity. This research aims to (1) develop an optimization model for material flow between industries and (2) explain the material flow and provide waste utilization recommendations for other industries to create a closed loop. The industries involved in this agro-eco-industrial park consist of the tofu industry, fertilizer producers, tempeh gembus producers, cattle farms, biodigesters, paddy farmers, soybean producers, and nata de soya producers. The model was created using a goal programming approach. Traditional tofu processing generally generates a variety of waste with high nutritional value, but it is detrimental to the environment if disposed of directly. The flow of materials among the related industries is based on the tofu industrial cluster, which consists of 30 industries in Grobogan, Central Java, Indonesia. The expected output comprises eight decision variables representing the production amount of industries. Data analysis reveals that the model outperforms the current conditions, with the waste recycling rate increasing from 14 % to 97 %. This model converts waste into valuable resources such as fertilizer and gas energy through biodigester processing and other economically viable methods.
