Abstract

Cockroaches, houseflies and green locusts are three types of insects that are available around us, and even their presence tends to be a carrier of disease (host) and pests in agriculture. Based on these conditions, it is necessary to conduct an initial study of the potential bioactive compounds contained in the three types of insects, especially steroid and protein content as candidates for ˜ecdysteroids for crab moulting stimulants, as well as their social and economic potential. This research is qualitative with the following stages: i) insect collection using traps, ii) insect extraction, iii) chemical compound testing of insect extracts, and iv) proximate testing. The results showed that the insect animals tested were cockroaches, flies, and adult grasshoppers, and they were positive for steroid compounds tested using the Liebermann-Burchard method. From the results of the proximate test, the three insect animals have crude protein (%) 32.5 for cockroaches, 33.5 for flies, and 30.5 for grasshoppers. From a social perspective, utilising these animals will reduce disease-carrying hosts in the community. Economically, it will impact the emergence of a business chain in the supplier segment. Keywords: Aquaculture; Insects; Moulting; Protein; Steroid

Abstract

Serukan fish (Osteochilus sp) has potential as a cultivation commodity with economic value. Environmental engineering, such as the manipulation of salinity media, has succeeded in increasing the growth of freshwater fish. However, there is no information about the optimal salinity setting for raising serukan fish. This study aims to determine the optimal media salinity based on the growth performance of the serukan juvenile. This study used a completely randomized design (RAL) with four treatments and three replications. The maintenance media in this study included control, P1 (3 ppt), P2 (6 ppt) and P3 (9 ppt). The study was conducted for 45 days with commercial feed. The test parameters included feed chemical analysis, blood glucose, SGR, FI, FE and SR. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan's further test. The optimal concentration of media salinity is determined by an orthogonal polynomial test. The results showed that the salinity-rearing media had a significant effect on the specific growth rate (SGR) and the efficiency of feed usage. The optimal concentration of salinity was found at 3.8 ppt, indicating that the fish call tends to achieve optimal growth at this salinity. The physiological response (stress) of fish, as measured by blood glucose levels, is also directly proportional to the level of salinity and growth performance. Keywords: Blood glucose; Growth performance; Media manipulation; Osteochilus sp; Stress response.

Abstract

A). Kontrol: Pakan Komersil; B). Pakan Komersil+ EDK 150 mL/kg pakan + rGH 2 mg/kg pakan; C). Pakan Komersil + EDK 200 ml/kg pakan + rGH 2 mg/kg pakan; D). Pakan Komersil + EDK 250 ml/kg pakan + rGH 2 mg/kg pakan.

Abstract

Meureubo District has the potential for freshwater aquaculture to be developed. UD Sonia Ratu is a fish cultivation business that focuses on raising catfish seeds. This fish cultivation business still relies on conventional cultivation systems so that cultivation productivity is not optimal. Increasing the productivity of fish farming can be done by utilizing floating raft system aquaponics technology. Floating raft system aquaponics technology is a cultivation activity that combines fish cultivation with plants. The aim of this service is to introduce floating raft aquaponics technology for catfish farmers in Meureubo District so that they can increase the productivity of UD Sonia Ratu's catfish cultivation business. The method for implementing this activity is to provide direct education and technical guidance regarding the techniques for making floating raft aquaponic systems. The material presented in educational activities includes benefits, how to make it, concept of use and direct practice of making and directly applying aquaponics. The result of this activity is that UD Sonia Ratu fish farmers gain an understanding of cultivation methods using floating raft system aquaponic technology. Increased understanding of fish farmers by 35% based on the results of tests that have been carried out. Fish farmers gain skills in how to make aquaponics and apply aquaponics systems directly to fish farming ponds. The conclusion of this activity is an increase in the understanding and skills of UD Sonia Ratu's fish cultivation business regarding cultivation methods using the floating raft aquaponics system
