Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of mathematical literacy skills of junior high school students level 1, 2, and 3 on triangles and rectangles. This research was conducted on 24 students of class VIII one of the public schools in Cirebon Regency with a qualitative descriptive research method. The data collection technique used a mathematical literacy test in the form of material description questions of triangles and squares and field notes. The analysis technique used is the technique of Miles & Hubermen which includes three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that from the 4 mathematical literacy questions given, it was found that level 1 mathematical literacy skills had a fairly high percentage compared to other levels, namely 62.5%, level 2 mathematical literacy skills with a percentage of 21.9%, while mathematical literacy skills level The 3 percentages obtained were 9.7%. The results of this study indicate that students' mathematical literacy skills are still at level 1.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the level of mathematical communication skills in linear programming material. Mathematics is an important science to be mastered in the field of education, especially in mathematical communication skills. The research subjects were students of class XI IPA 2 at SMA Negeri 2 Klari in the academic year 2021/2022. In this study using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The instrument used is a written test of mathematical communication skills with 5 questions. This test instrument aims to describe the extent to which students are able to explain their ideas mathematically. To obtain descriptive data, data analysis techniques are used, namely by sorting out important data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results obtained indicate that some students are able to explain ideas algebraically, namely by making mathematical models from the graphs of the functions presented, can determine inequality models in graph form, are able to solve problems by describing a graph, can answer questions algebraically by grouping the x variable. and y into the form of inequalities, and is able to translate the problem into inequalities, then complete the calculation by substitution. So it can be concluded that students have mathematical communication skills with a high category.

Abstract

This research was to measure the level of mathematical connection ability of class IX junior high school students on the material of polyhedra solid geometry. The subjects were 23 students of grade IX JHS in one of Bekasi Regency who had been considered by mathematics teachers. The research method is qualitative-descriptive. The research instrument used was in the form of a description test of students' mathematical connection abilities as many as 6 questions containing indicators for connecting knowledge of concepts and procedures, between topics of mathematics, other sciences, and problems in real life. The results of data analysis show 1) high-ability students meet all the indicators that must be achieved, 2) moderate category students are unable to meet the indicators of connecting mathematics with real-life problems, and 3) low category students are unable to meet all the indicators implemented. The average percentage of mathematical connection abilities of class IX JHS students is 52% meaning that it is still low with 13 students in the low category, 6 students in the medium category, and only 4 students in the high category.

Abstract

This study aims to see whether the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical understanding skills who received NHT cooperative learning were better and higher than students who received expository learning and to see how much influence the NHT cooperative learning model had on the students' understanding abilities of the experimental class. . This study uses a quantitative approach with the method used is an experiment. The population in this study were seventh grade junior high school students. The sampling technique used is total sampling. The research design used was a quasi-experimental design, the nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The instruments used were test instruments and unstructured interviews. The data obtained will be analyzed by statistical tests in the form of normality test, homogeneity test, t-test, Mann-Whitney test, n-gain test and effect size. The results of the posttest data analysis showed the value of sig. of 0.005 and the n-gain data shows the value of sig. of 0.00 then Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. This means that the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical understanding skills using the NHT learning model is better and higher than students using expository learning. The large influence of the NHT type cooperative learning model on the mathematical understanding ability of experimental class students obtained through the effect size test is 0.89 with the criteria classified as large.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze, and interpret mathematical problem solving skills with absolute value equations and inequalities. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research design. This research was conducted in one of the SMA/MA in the city of Karawang, with the research subjects of 29 students of class X MIPA who had studied absolute value equations and inequalities. The data collection technique of this research is a written test instrument in the form of a description with a total of four questions. Before starting the data analysis, the validity of the questions has been done first. Based on the research findings, there are various kinds of errors in solving problems involving absolute value equations and inequalities. On the indicator of understanding the problem getting 22.8%, indicators implementing plans 15.1%, indicators completing plans 45.2%, and indicators checking back as much as 17%. Therefore, the mathematical problem solving ability of X MIPA students in one of the SMA/MA in Karawang city is classified as moderate in all indicators of mathematical problem solving ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the problem-solving abilities of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems in number pattern material. This research was conducted in one of the public schools located in Karawang Regency. There are 4 indicators of problem solving, namely, the adequacy of known and requested information data, problem solving strategies, completion of mathematical models and arguments, and re-examination of the solutions obtained. This research was conducted with a subject of 17 class VIII students with a qualitative descriptive method. The technique used in data collection was using the descriptive test method, while the technique used to analyze the data was using the average percentage. Meanwhile, the percentage of indicators (1) the stage of identifying data is 27.06%; (2) the problem solving strategy stage, amounting to 21.17%; (3) skill stage in solving mathematical models 9.41%; (4) the concluding stage of 8.23%. The results of the data analysis show that most of the mathematical problem solving abilities of junior high school students are still low.
