Abstract

General Background: Early marriage remains a significant public health and social issue, often occurring before individuals reach the legal minimum age. Specific Background: Internal determinants, particularly knowledge, individual education, and parental education, have been cited as factors influencing early marriage, yet empirical evidence is still inconsistent. Knowledge Gap: Limited studies in Indonesia have explored which internal factors have the strongest association with early marriage practices. Aims: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between internal factors and early marriage in Curahkalong village, Jember district. Results: A cross-sectional analytic study was conducted with 38 married women selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with the Chi-square test at a significance level of α < 0.05. Findings showed a significant relationship between parental education and early marriage (p = 0.003), while no significant relationship was found for individual knowledge (p = 1.000) or respondent education (p = 0.180). Novelty: This research highlights parental education as the primary internal factor related to early marriage, while individual knowledge and education were not significant predictors. Implications: The findings suggest that parental involvement and educational background are critical in preventing early marriage, emphasizing the need for family-based reproductive health education programs. Highlights: Parental education strongly correlates with early marriage. Individual knowledge shows no significant association. Family-based interventions are essential for prevention. Abstract

Kata kunci: efek samping, spotting, kontrasepsi, KB suntik  Abstract There are various contraceptive methods available, both hormonal and non-hormonal methods. The 2018 Riskesdas data shows that 3 months injection contraceptive is hormonal contraceptive most used. Every hormonal contraceptive has side effects including 3 months injection contraceptive that contains progestin. Based on registered data taken at PBM (Independence Midwife Practice) Suko village, Sidoarjo, almost all acceptors of 3-month injection contraceptive experience side effects, therefore researchers want to study side effects of 3-month injection contraceptive toward the continuity of using 3-month injection contraceptive. The research design used correlation research design using a cross sectional approach with a retrospective study. Population in study was 34 acceptor of 3 month injection contraceptive who experienced side effects (spotting) in PBM Suko village, Sidoarjo and the sample was 31 acceptors. Sampling technique uses random sampling. Chi-Square statistical test with a significant level of 0.05 was obtained 2X of 2.981823 while the 2X Chi-Square table with d.b = 1 was 3.481. So the result is 2X count smaller than 2X Chi-Square table, so the Ho hypothesis is accepted. Conclusion of this study is that side effects (spotting) have no relationship with continuity of using injection contraceptives for 3 months. Keywords: side effect, spotting, contraception, injection contraceptive

Abstract

Anemia and neonatal jaundice are major contributors to infant mortality. This study investigates the effects of delayed umbilical cord clamping on neonatal hemoglobin levels and jaundice. Using a quasi-experimental posttest-only control design, 101 newborns were sampled and divided into immediate clamping (<3 minutes) and delayed clamping (>3 minutes) groups. Hemoglobin levels were measured within 24 hours, and jaundice was assessed on days 4-7. Results showed that delayed clamping significantly increased hemoglobin levels (P = 0.000) and reduced jaundice incidence (P = 0.010). The findings suggest that delayed clamping improves early infant health outcomes and should be adopted in health facilities. Highlight: Delayed clamping improves hemoglobin, reduces jaundice in newborns. Quasi-experimental design compares immediate vs. delayed cord clamping effects. Adopting delayed clamping enhances early infant health outcomes. Keyword: Anemia, neonatal jaundice, delayed cord clamping, hemoglobin levels, infant health

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the influence of media and peers on premarital sexual behavior among adolescents in both urban and rural areas. The research was conducted at Hizbul Wathan Kwarda Sidoarjo using a cross-sectional method. The study population consisted of 90 individuals who were members of Hizbul Wathan Scouts, and purposive sampling was employed for participant selection. A questionnaire was used as the research instrument. The findings revealed that the majority of participants (68 out of 90) had no exposure to media, and a significant proportion (63.3%) reported positive peer influence. Statistical analysis using Fisher's Exact test indicated that the influence of media on premarital sexual behavior was not significant (p-value = 0.219 > 0.05), whereas peer influence was found to be significantly associated with premarital sexual behavior (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). These results suggest that while media exposure may not play a substantial role, peers exert a significant influence on premarital sexual behavior among Hizbul Wathan members. This study contributes to the understanding of factors shaping adolescent sexual behavior and highlights the importance of addressing peer influences in interventions aimed at reducing risky sexual behaviors among young individuals. Highlights: Media Influence: The study found no significant influence of media on premarital sex behavior among adolescents. Peer Influence: Positive peer influence was found to have a significant impact on premarital sexual behavior among adolescents. Cross-sectional Study: The research employed a cross-sectional method to investigate the relationship between media, peers, and premarital sex behavior among adolescents.
