Abstract

Keberadaan mesofauna tanah bergantung pada sumber energi seperti bahan organik dan biomassa hidup yang terkait dengan aliran siklus karbon di dalam tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kelimpahan dan keragaman mesofauna tanah pada tiga tipe penggunaan lahan di Bogor, Jawa Barat. Pengambilan sampel tanah dilakukan pada 5 titik lokasi sampel pada tipe penggunaan lahan hutan, kebun, dan tegalan. Ekstraksi mesofauna tanah pada masing-masing tipe penggunaan lahan menggunakan metode berlese tulgren, kempson extractor , dan pitfall traps. Kelimpahan mesofauna tanah terbesar terdapat pada tipe penggunaan lahan tegalan yang diekstraksi menggunakan metode kempson sampel seresah dengan densitas 835 individu/m2. Indeks diversitas tertinggi meso fauna tanah terdapat pada tipe penggunaan lahan hutan.

Abstract

Indonesia is in the ring of fire, which has an impact on the characteristics of volcanoes, one of which is Mount Raung. Mount Raung, part of the Iyang-Argopura mountains, has a role in influencing the development of soil types and the environment; it was recorded in 1586, 1987, 1597, and 1638. Soil types and environmental parameters have an influence on critical land conditions. Remote sensing technology has been used in various fields, one of which is land evaluation. This study examined the distribution of soil characteristics and the mapping of critical lands through remote sensing approaches. The method used to identify the morphological characteristics of soil classification and the potential for critical land was a descriptive-exploratory method. The results of the research on soil types are divided into three orders, namely Andisols, Inceptisols, and Alfisols. The three land orders are divided into nine great groups, with Lithic Eutrudepts having the highest area of 38.02%, followed by Typic Hapludalfs (21.70%), Typic Eutrudepts (9.79%), Typic Epiaquepts (7.84%), Aquic Eutrudepts (7.71%), Aquic Eutrudepts (5.64%), Fluventic Epiaquepts (5.30%), Typic Udivitrands (2.16%), and Vitric Hapludands (1.83%). Critical land based on the analysis of five factors of erosion, land use, slope, rainfall, and soil canopy density, is divided into four criteria i.e., critical area of 895.88 ha, medium critical 9,027.69 ha, and lightly critical of 14,096.89 ha. Land use, slope, and plant canopy density play a major role in the potential for critical land with a strong-very-strong level of closeness (0.350-0.610).

Abstract

Organic waste is one of the main environmental problems in many countries, including Indonesia, where its presence can cause ecosystem imbalance. Utilizing insects in the agricultural production cycle is a potential alternative for producing valuable protein feed and sustainable organic fertilizer. This community service program aims to provide technical guidance on using maggot residue as a raw material for processing organic fertilizer. The implementation of this community service program consists of several stages, including preparation, planning, execution, and evaluation. The execution stage involves multiple activities, such as field visits, material presentations, and practical fieldwork. The outcome of this technical guidance includes increased literacy and understanding among maggot breeders and horticultural farmers regarding the use of maggot residue as a raw material in organic fertilizer processing. The decomposition of waste by BSF larvae yields better results due to its higher nutrient content. The residual waste decomposed by BSF larvae can be transformed into compost with high benefits and can be applied to cultivated plants or soil to improve soil properties.

Abstract

Stunting adalah kondisi gangguan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan pada anak yang disebabkan oleh kekurangan gizi kronis. Kondisi ini ditandai dengan tinggi badan anak yang lebih pendek dibandingkan dengan anak seusianya berdasarkan standar pertumbuhan yang telah ditetapkan oleh WHO. Kasus stunting di Kabupaten Jember sangat eksis dan setiap tahunnya mengalami peningkatan. Berbagai upaya untuk menekan angka stunting terus dilakukan salah satunya yaitu peningkatan nutrisi seimbang bagi anak dan bayi. Nutrisi seimbang didapatkan dari menu pangan yang diberikan kepada anak-anak dan bayi juga untuk ibu hamil. Upaya peningkatan angkat stunting dapat dilakukan pada tingkat petani sebagai pelaku produsen pangan melalui pemberian sarana dan prasarana pertanian serta kegiatan pendampingan budidaya. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi dan pendampingan budidaya padi Inpari IR Nutri Zinc. Kegiatan pengabdian terdiri dari beberapa kegiatan yakni pendataan, penyuluhan, monitoring dan pendampingan. Pendataan dilakukan untuk mendapatkan data sasaran kelompok tani yang berada pada wilayah dengan angka stunting tertinggi. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa 87% peserta merasa materi yang disampaikan relevan dan mudah dipahami. Diskusi interaktif selama kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme peserta terhadap adopsi varietas padi ini. Setelah penyuluhan, beberapa petani telah mencoba mengaplikasikan teknologi budidaya yang direkomendasikan, seperti penggunaan pupuk kaya zinc dan pola tanam jajar legowo. Pemantauan awal menunjukkan hasil yang menjanjikan, seperti peningkatan vigor tanaman dan penurunan serangan hama tertentu. Berdasarkan hasil panen diketahui bahwa jumlah produksi padi Inpari IR Nutri Zinc di kelompok tani Dewi Sri sebesar 9,1 ton/ha untuk kelompok tani Dewi Sri, dan 6 ton/ha untuk kelompok tani Gemah Ripah. kegiatan penyuluhan berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman petani tentang keunggulan varietas Inpari Nutri Zinc dan teknik budidaya yang sesuai. Sebagian besar peserta menunjukkan antusiasme untuk mengadopsi varietas ini setelah memahami manfaatnya, baik dari segi produktivitas maupun kontribusinya terhadap kesehatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Di masa pandemi saat ini, tanaman hias menjadi salah satu komoditas yang popular dan banyak sekali diminati masyarakat dari berbagai kalangan, baik sebagai hobi, pereda stress, dan bahkan bentuk usaha atau bisnis. Kokedama merupakan salah satu teknik budidaya potless atau tanpa pot, sehingga dapat mengurangi penggunaan bahan plastik yang limbahnya cukup merugikan, yang juga dapat memberikan nilai tambah ekonomi pada tanaman hias. Tujuan dari pengabdian budidaya tanaman hias dengan teknik kokedama ini diharapkan masyarakat melalui ibu-ibu PKK Wirolegi sebagai penggerak, memiliki aktivitas yang kreatif guna mengurangi kejenuhan dimasa pandemi dan meningkatkan pendapatan harian melalui wirausaha tanaman hias unik dengan memanfaatkan limbah bahan organik di sekitar lingkungan Wirolegi. Kegiatan ini dilakukan salam bentuk sosialisasi dan pelatihan langsung pembuatan kokedama tanaman hias. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah seluruh peserta kegiatan pengabdian ini sangat antusias dalam mencoba langsung pembuatan kokedama. Dengan kreativitas dan jiwa seni pada masing-masing individu, menghasilkan bentukan kokedama yang sangat variatif. Ibu-ibu PKK Kelurahan Wirolegi mendapatkan pengetahuan mengenai budidaya tanaman hias potless melalui pembuatan kokedama, dan variasi pengembangan bentuk kokedama. Selain itu, mereka juga mendapatkan pengetahuan mengenai peluang usaha kokedama, sehingga berpotensi untuk menciptakan ecopreneurship di lingkungan kelurahan setempat.

Abstract

Kangkung (Ipomea aquatica) adalah salah satu sayuran bergizi tinggi yang mudah ditanam dan dapat dibudidaya dengan teknik budidaya hidroponik. Sayuran kangkung dengan teknik hidroponik memerlukan nutrisi yang berbeda tiap periode penanaman. Smart Nutrition Monitoring System berbasis Internet of Things (IoT) dapat memberikan kemudahan dalam pemantauan hidroponik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu sistem IoT aplikasi smartphone Blynk sebagai pemantauan adalah smart sensor Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) untuk nutrisi, sensor DHT11 untuk kontrol lingkungan suhu dan kelembaban. Sistem tersebut terintegrasi dengan bahasa pemrograman arduino melalui mikrokontroller ESP 8266. Sensor yang akan dipasang dikalibrasi dahulu untuk memastikan tingkat akurasi sensor adalah akurat. Dari hasil kalibrasi sensor TDS dan DHT11 rata-rata tingkat akurasi sebesar 99%. Setelah penyemaian bibit kangkung dan pemindahan pada instalasi hidroponik, pemasangan dan pengujian sensor dilakukan selama tiga minggu dengan nutrisi berbeda setiap minggunya yaitu 600 ppm, 700 ppm, dan 1.000 ppm.  Data Pengujian Sensor dan IoT Rata-rata Minggu standar kesalahan (SE) masing – masing 0.0011; 0.0020; 0.0008 lebih kecil dari standar deviasi, pengukuran yang dilakukan sudah akurat dan valid. Kontrol nutrisi dan lingkungan dengan pemberian pompa nutrisi apabila ppm melebihi dari standar dan sprinkle air akan hidup jika suhu 32 oC. Pertumbuhan tanaman dan daun menunjukkan pertumbuhan yang normal secara visual dengan bobot rata-rata sebesar 70 gr/ netpot hal tersebut berarti kandungan nutrisi selama penanaman terserap dengan optimal sesuai dengan yang diprogramkan oleh sistem

Abstract

The Mulyo Farmer Group of Karangrejo village are the fostered villages of the University of Jember and have long been food producers, especially rice and corn, with the potential to become one of the providers of organic products according to SNI 6729:2016. Therefore it is essential to evaluate the implementation of gab against the standard requirements of organic farming systems. Some of the activities carried out are Evaluation and increasing understanding of the application of organic farming systems by continuing the practice of making biochar from agricultural waste for long-term organic fertilizer base materials; Focus Group Discussion and ongoing assistance by the Soil Biodiversity and Fertility Research Group UNEJ. The results of the activities show that the community and village officials are thrilled and open to several activities to be carried out. The results of the initial evaluation using the checklist for fulfilling the requirements of SNI 6729:2016 are based on eight variables related to fresh plants and plant products, indicating that there is no program yet to meet the needs of the organic farming system of SNI 6729:2016 or it has not yet been fulfilled. Even though it has not been fulfilled, the potential for implementing it remains open if based on its main potential, namely organic fertilizer sources and water sources (lowlands with relatively shallow groundwater tables). The existence of many livestock and agricultural waste (which is not harvested) available throughout the year can be used as a source of organic fertilizer in maintaining soil fertility or health.

Abstract

Indonesia is rich with volcanic tuff-derived Andisols that contain variable charged minerals. This research was aimed at to extract nanoclays (diameter <200 nm) from volcanic tuffs, and to evaluate their potential as natural adsorbent of phosphate as contaminant in waters. Volcanic tuffs were taken from the 3rd (tv3) and 4th(tv4) layers of an Andisol profile at the foot slope of Salak Mountain Indonesia using dispersion-ultrasonication-centrifugation-dialysis separation procedure. By dispersing the materials in an acid condition (pH 4.0) followed with ultrasonication, it could be separated positively-charged nanoclays (nc3 and nc4) from the negative ones. The separated nanoclays were then purified using centrifugation and membrane dialysis techniques. Potential of the extracted nanoclays as natural phosphate adsorbent was evaluated by characterizing their adsorption maxima (b values) according to the Langmuir isothermal adsorption model. It could be extracted 2.82 mg nc3/g tv3 and 4.29 mg nc4/g tv4. The b values of nc3 at 12, 24, and 48 hours equilibration time (76.48, 92.10, and 117.54 mg P/g nc3) were higher than those of nc4 (50.17, 59.52, and 71.99 mg P/g nc4). The most effective equilibration-time was 48 hours. The extracted nanoclays were considered prospective as natural adsorbent for removal phosphate contaminant in waters

Abstract

The current condition of agricultural land has broadly declined in soil quality and health caused by the excessive use of synthetic materials without paying attention to future agriculture sustainability. Soil as a planting medium plays an essential role in cultivated plants' growth and as a nutrient provider. Apart from using organic fertilizer, materials that can be used to support plant production are biostimulants. Plant biostimulants are substances or microorganisms applied to plants rather than as fertilizer to increase the efficiency of nutrient absorption abiotic stress tolerance, and improving plant characteristics/quality. This community service activity aims to educate the Gumukmas farmer group on manufacturing plant biostimulant products. The results show that the farmer group has understood a series of processes for making and utilizing biostimulants, as demonstrated by the product results from the Gumukmas farmer group. Farmer groups need regular assistance in online marketing strategies for biostimulant products so that the products can be more widely known and sales will increase.

Abstract

Rice is one food crop that has a role in increasing food security. The advantages of rice farming can be obtained by implementing proper management and efficient use of production factors. Gebang is one of the villages in Patrang District, Jember Regency, which has an active and sustainable farmer group for rice farming accompanied by Field Agricultural Extension Officers (PPL). However, during the assistance, the farmer group has never been directed to calculate profits systematically, so it is unknown whether the rice farming carried out is profitable. The farmer group in discussion is the Tunggul Farmer Group member of the Sahabat Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan). The model of this service activity is counseling and assistance in farming bookkeeping. They carried out the service activity in one of the houses of members of the farmer group, namely Mr. Hanan on Teratai Street, Gebang Village, Patrang District, Jember Regency. The participants who attended were 21 people and enthusiastically participated in the counseling. The outreach activities ran smoothly throughout the event. Farmer group members are encouraged to keep books related to their farm income and expenses. This habit is expected during mentoring. The extension material delivered includes the purpose of bookkeeping or recording farming and how to calculate revenue, costs, and profits.
