Abstract

The traditional architecture of Sa'o, which is the traditional house of Bajawa, demonstrates the preservation of environmental sustainability through local wisdom. This study aims to: (1) examine the values of local wisdom in the development and governance of Sa'o and the environment in Bena Village, and (2) analyze the role of this local wisdom as respect for nature and its relevance as an educational medium for students. The study concludes that the local wisdom of Bena Village is a valuable form of social and ecological capital. Therefore, a strategy is needed to help students understand, appreciate, and preserve these values so they can face global environmental challenges. The findings reveal that local wisdom in Sa'o enables students to maintain harmony in their lives through traditions and rituals that have been passed down for generations. This wisdom can also serve as a reference for knowledge and understanding to overcome and anticipate current local environmental issues, particularly those related to pollution.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the Value Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model in internalizing entrepreneurial character values among students at Alfa Centauri Junior High School. VCT was implemented to strengthen students’ awareness of seven core values through reflective discussion, value-based decision-making, and consistent practice in learning activities. A quantitative method was employed using pretest–posttest assessments and observations involving a sufficient number of student respondents. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test to determine overall effectiveness and N-Gain analysis to measure improvement levels. The results showed a significant increase in students’ understanding and application of entrepreneurial values, with the most notable progress occurring among students with moderate initial value comprehension. Behavioral indicators such as discipline, politeness, and helpfulness also showed improvement. Overall, the study concludes that VCT is effective in enhancing entrepreneurial value internalization, although longer and continuous implementation is required for stronger behavioral impact.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of ecocentrism into the social studies curriculum at SMPN 1 Pontianak City, highlighting the critical role of education in fostering students' environmental awareness. The backdrop of increasing environmental crises, driven by anthropocentric perspectives, necessitates a shift towards ecocentric values that recognize the intrinsic worth of all life forms. Employing a qualitative methodology, including literature reviews and in-depth interviews with educators and students, the research reveals that students exhibit significant environmental consciousness, as evidenced by their proactive efforts to maintain cleanliness and ecological balance in the school environment. Findings indicate that the school's educational approach effectively instils ecocentric principles, promoting a holistic understanding of human-nature interdependence. Furthermore, the curriculum's emphasis on environmental issues cultivates positive attitudes towards sustainability, suggesting that social studies education can serve as a powerful tool for nurturing responsible future citizens. The implications of this research underscore the necessity for educational institutions to prioritise ecological ethics, thereby contributing to the broader discourse on sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
