Abstract

In the digital era, social media usage has become an integral part of daily life, particularly among adolescents. This study investigates the relationship between anxiety, loneliness, sleep disorders, and social media addiction among adolescents. A cross-sectional study involving 290 X and XI-grade students utilized standardized instruments: the Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS/SRAS), UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test (p<0.05). Findings revealed 10.7% severe social media addiction, 21.4% severe anxiety, 4.8% significant loneliness, and 74.5% poor sleep quality. Significant associations were found between anxiety (p=0.013), loneliness (p=0.010), sleep disturbance (p=0.033), and social media addiction. Higher anxiety, loneliness, and poor sleep quality correlate with increased susceptibility to social media addiction among adolescents. This underscores the importance of addressing psychological well-being in interventions aimed at mitigating social media addiction.

Abstract

Limited understanding regarding healthy relationships, religious implications, the impact of LGBTQ occurrences, psychological susceptibilities associated with LGBTQ, and inappropriate approaches towards LGBTQ individuals can heighten one's susceptibility towards developing LGBTQ tendencies or mental disorders. This initiative, referred to as IbDM, will be executed with the utilization of a social campaign approach and interactive talk shows, to cultivate positive awareness and effective strategies for addressing and preventing the rise in LGBTQ transmission. The social campaign involve distributing pamphlets and pocketbooks about LGBTQ matters across all faculties in Unand, serving as a reminder and platform for introspection in anticipation of LGBTQ transmission. Additionally, incorporating interactive and captivating talk show activities featuring knowledgeable speakers will enable the dissemination of understanding, thereby enhancing the academic community's awareness in a more profound manner. The content presented during these activities will encompass various aspects of LGBTQ, including social and religious dimensions, cultural and legal considerations, and health-related perspectives. This activity has provided an overview of the perceptions of students involved as participants regarding LGBTQ behaviour. All participants (100%) view LGBTQ as deviant behavior, the importance of the role of parents in building children's character and identity, and the large influence of the social environment as a barrier to LGBTQ. Therefore, it is important for the role of policymakers at the central and regional government levels, leaders of higher education institutions, the academic community, health practitioners, and other fields to be able to work together in enforcing strict legal regulations against LGBTQ, socializing the impact of sexual identity and orientation deviation, strengthening the role parents and social environment as deterrents to deviant sexual identity and orientation behavior.

Abstract

Abstrak: Masa remaja merupakan masa krusial dalam perkembangan aspek psikososial. Pada fase ini terjadi perubahan kognitif dan psikososial yang signifikan yang dapat berdampak pada hubungan sosial remaja dan kemampuannya dalam membentuk identitas diri. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pendidikan kesehatan pada remaja sebagai upaya meningkatkan pemahaman mereka tentang tugas-tugas yang berkaitan dengan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan psikososial selama tahap kehidupan ini. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 163 peserta remaja SMA Negeri 6 Padang dan disusun dalam empat tahap berurutan, yaitu: sosialisasi, pre-test untuk mengukur pengetahuan, pemberian pendidikan kesehatan dengan pendekatan presentasi dan diskusi, dan post-test untuk mengukur pengetahuan setelah intervensi. Baik pre-test maupun post-test menggunakan angket yang sama, yang dikembangkan oleh tim PKM dan berdasarkan materi yang diberikan, khususnya mengacu pada konsep tumbuh kembang psikososial Erickson. Hasil intervensi menunjukkan rata-rata skor pengetahuan peserta sebelum mendapat pendidikan kesehatan adalah 6,09 (SD = 1,463), meningkat menjadi 8,25 (SD = 1,264) setelah intervensi. Peningkatan rata-rata skor pengetahuan peserta ini menunjukkan adanya dampak positif intervensi pendidikan kesehatan terhadap pemahaman peserta tentang pertumbuhan dan perkembangan psikososial remaja. Lebih lanjut, hasil uji Paired t-test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan pada pengetahuan peserta tentang pertumbuhan dan perkembangan psikososial remaja sebelum dan sesudah mendapat pendidikan kesehatan. Hasil kegiatan ini menggarisbawahi efektivitas pemberian pendidikan kesehatan dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan remaja tentang pertumbuhan dan perkembangan psikososial selama masa remaja. Hasil ini memberikan wawasan berharga mengenai potensi intervensi pendidikan kesehatan untuk memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap perkembangan psikososial remaja, dan menekankan pentingnya mengatasi aspek kesejahteraan remaja ini. Inisiatif-inisiatif tersebut dapat berfungsi sebagai langkah-langkah preventif untuk mengurangi masalah kesehatan mental di kalangan remaja.Abstract: The period of adolescence is a crucial stage in the development of psychosocial aspects. During this phase, significant cognitive and psychosocial changes take place, which can have an impact on adolescents' social relationships and their ability to form a sense of self-identity. The objective of the activity was to impart health education in adolescents with the aim of enhancing their understanding of the tasks associated with psychosocial growth and development during this stage of life. This activity involved 163 teenage participants from Public Senior High School 6 Padang and was structured into four sequential stages: socialization, pre-test to measure knowledge, health education delivery using presentation and discussion approach, and post-test to measure knowledge after the intervention. Both the pre-test and post-test utilized the same questionnaire, which was developed by the PKM team and based on the material provided, specifically referring to Erickson's concept of adolescent psychosocial growth and development. The results of the intervention indicated that the average knowledge score prior to receiving health education was 6.09 (SD = 1.463), which increased to 8.25 (SD = 1.264) after the intervention. This increase in average knowledge scores suggests a positive impact of the health education intervention on the participants' understanding of adolescent psychosocial growth and development. Furthermore, the results of the Paired t-test demonstrated a significant difference in participants' knowledge about adolescent psychosocial growth and development before and after receiving health education. These findings underscore the effectiveness of providing health education in enhancing teenagers' knowledge about psychosocial growth and development during adolescence. This study provides valuable insights into the potential of health education interventions to positively influence the psychosocial development of teenagers, emphasizing the significance of addressing this aspect of adolescent well-being. Such initiatives can serve as preventive measures to mitigate mental health issues among adolescents.

Abstract

Mahasiswa baru menghadapi kesulitan dalam transisi ke kehidupan di perguruan tinggi, yang yang akan memicu respon psikologis sehingga dapat menurunkan kesejahteraan psikologis. Salah satu penyebab menurunnya kesejahteraan psikologis adalah stres. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat stres dengan kesejahteraan psikologis pada mahasiswa baru Program Studi Ilmu Keperawatan Universitas Andalas angkatan A 2023. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan desain korelasi dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa baru program studi Ilmu Keperawatan Universitas Andalas angkatan A 2023. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 121 orang dengan menggunakan teknik probability sampling dengan bentuk simple random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Student Nursing Stress Index (SNSI) dan Ryff’s Scale of Psychological Well-Being (RPWB). Analisis data menggunakan uji Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya hubungan yang signifikan tingkat stres dengan kesejahteraan psikologis (p=0,006) dengan nilai koefisien korelasi (r=-0,249) memiliki arti negatif (berlawanan), yaitu semakin tinggi tingkat stres maka semakin rendah kesejahteraan psikologis, dengan kekuatan korelasi lemah. Diharapkan untuk pihak fakultas dapat mempertimbangkan untuk lebih meningkatkan pelaksanaan program kampus sehat terutama yang berfokus pada program kesehatan psikologis dan mahasiswa yang mengalami kesejahteraan psikologis yang rendah disarankan untuk melakukan pemeriksaan klinis dan berkonsultasi dengan psikiater/ psikolog agar mendapatkan penanganan yang lebih tepat.

Abstract

Medication non-adherence is a major problem in the treatment of people with schizophrenia, if left untreated, can cause various impacts including relapse and decreased quality of. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence medication adherence in people with schizophrenia The method in this study with schizophrenia literature review by identifying research articles published in 2015-2020 using 3 databases namely Pubmed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. The research articles were selected using PRISMA. used10 reviewed articles were obtained and extracted in tabular form. The results of the article analysis showed that the factors that influence medication adherence in people with schizophrenia include patient factors age, gender, income, education insight, and attitude. Treatment factors were the amount of drug, type of drug, side effects of the drug, severity of symptoms, and duration of treatment. And environmental factor were family support, social support, residence, and nurse-client relationships. people with schizophrenia, especially nurses, have to provide health education for patients and families about the importance of medication adherence and for future researchers, it is advise that further researchers to investigate the factors that influence medication adherence in schizophrenic patients and interventions to improve medication adherence in schizophrenic patients.

Abstract

Dating Violence is still a problem in relationships between men and Female. Its prevalence is increasing from year to year, especially among students. Usually, victims will use self-defense (coping) in dealing with this dating violence situation. This study aims to determine the description of coping strategies of students who experience dating violence in the city of Padang. This type of research is descriptive observational research. The population of the study was students who experienced dating violence in two leading institutions in the city of Padang. The sample was obtained using the lemeshow formula of 380 people with a purposive sampling technique. The strategy questionnaire used The Ways of Coping the Revised Version, and dating violence used a questionnaire developed from the theory. The analysis used a frequency distribution. The results of this study indicate that respondents experienced dating violence in the moderate category (66.6%) in both institutions. The type of verbal dating violence that was widely accepted was in the moderate category (60%), while the type of physical dating violence was only in the mild category (64.5%). The coping strategy that was widely used by victims was emotional coping (66.8%). There is a need to develop effective interventions in accordance with the coping chosen to support the well-being of victims of dating violence

Abstract

Adolescents face various risk factors that increase vulnerability to their mental health. The purpose of this activity is to train and empower adolescent mental health cadres at SMPN 23 Padang to recognize and resolve mental health problems independently. The methods used include socialization, counseling, and workshops on the implementation of the School Mental Health Unit program with a focus on preventing mental health problems and deviant behavior. The partners of this activity were teachers and the UKS team of SMPN 23 Padang, who were selected as mental health cadres. The results showed a significant increase in skills; whereas before the training, only 41.7% of cadres were skilled in conducting mental health screening, while after the training, it reached 100%. This activity proves that involving adolescents in solving mental health problems can significantly improve their skills.

Abstract

Background: Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis often experience anxiety. The response made by patients in facing anxiety can involve adaptive coping mechanisms or maladaptive coping mechanisms. The difference in these abilities affects the level of anxiety experienced by patients. The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between coping mechanisms and anxiety levels in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Dr. M Djamil Padang General Hospital. Methods: The research method is quantitative with a cross-sectional study design. The analysis used is Spearman's correlation. The sample in the study consisted of 134 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection utilized the Brief COPE Questionnaire to assess coping mechanisms and the Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS) Questionnaire to assess anxiety. Results: Based on the research results, the median value of coping mechanisms is 58.00, indicating maladaptive coping mechanisms, while the median value for anxiety is 62.00, indicating a moderate level of anxiety in patients. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between coping mechanisms and anxiety in patients undergoing hemodialysis, with an average correlation strength and a negative direction (p-value = 0.000 and r = -0.506), meaning that the lower the coping mechanisms, the higher the anxiety experienced by hemodialysis patients. Conclusion: Promotive and preventive efforts are needed to address anxiety in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Healthcare professionals can contribute to this by conducting health education activities on anxiety management and coping mechanisms.Keywords: Anxiety, Coping Mechanisms, Hemodialysis

Abstract

Kecanduan media sosial menjadi masalah umum dalam kehidupan remaja dan dipengaruhi oleh kecemasan sosial serta harga diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan antara kecemasan sosial dan harga diri dengan kecanduan media sosial pada siswa SMA N 9 Padang. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif cross sectional, sampel terdiri dari 297 siswa kelas X dan XI yang dipilih dengan teknik stratified random sampling. Instrumen penelitian meliputi Bergen Social Media Addiction (BSMAS) untuk mengukur kecanduan media sosial, Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescent (SAS-A) untuk mengukur kecemasan sosial dan Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES) untuk mengukur harga diri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki tingkat kecanduan media sosial, kecemasan sosial, dan harga diri yang tinggi, dengan nilai tengah masing-masing (56,00) (59,00) dan (28,00). Uji Rank Spearman menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara kecemasan sosial dan kecanduan media sosial (p=0,001) (r=0,444), serta antara harga diri dan kecanduan media sosial (p=0,001) (r= -0,318). Artinya, semakin tinggi kecemasan sosial maka semakin besar kecanduan media sosial, sebaliknya semakin rendah harga diri semakin tinggi kecanduan.
