Abstract

The study focused on obtaining substantial information of teachers’ perceptions and interventions in bullying cases in the environment of modern ‘pesantren’, Islamic boarding school that facilitates students with formal schooling and dormitory facilities. The study provided an analysis of how teachers at the pesantren conceptually perceive bullying behavior and their concrete actions to prevent the behavior. The study revealed that the pesantren’s teachers perceived bullying as dangerous behavior and therefore should be intervened. The study also discovered that the teachers intervened the behavior more reactively than proactively. However, their positive perceptions that bullying is detrimental as well as their concrete actions to prevent bullying on their pesantren could not reduce its occurrence significantly. Teasing, mocking or nick-name-calling, for instance, were still found in the researched pesantren.[Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi dan intervensi para guru di lingkungan pesantren modern terhadap perundungan.

Abstract

Education is one of the pillars of the progress of a nation. Education is still a serious concern in each region in order to increase. The quality of education at the Integrated Early Childhood Post (PPT) Kuncup Melati Surabaya is quite good but still needs to be improved. One of them is in technology-based English learning. Learning English at PPT Kuncup Melati Surabaya will be much more interesting if it is packaged with a blend of technology and presented to Early Childhood Education students in the form of visual learning. In addition, online learning is currently being promoted again along with the increasing number of Covid-19 victims during this pandemic. Mastery of technology-based English learning at PPT Kuncup Melati Surabaya is still minimal. This is evident from the learning that is still carried out face-to-face, even though it is carried out in alternating schedules. Even though there are clear rules from the government that suggest that learning is done online. As a solution, assistance is needed in technology-based online English learning with a variety of methods and is carried out in a sustainable manner so that learning can be done online but still interesting. This Community Service (PKM) activity plan is focused on implementing an interactive English E-Module with a flipbook application for Early Childhood Education students at PPT Kuncup Melati Surabaya. The target of this PKM activity is the students in the school. The expected output is to apply a flipbook application to students at the school and to create a digital literacy corner and e-learning regeneration which is expected to be able to increase the knowledge, skills, interests and motivation of Early Childhood Education students in learning English. With the digital literacy corner, it is hoped that it can increase student interest in literacy.

Abstract

Morphology plays a crucial role in students' language acquisition. This study delves into the distinctions between inflectional and derivational morphemes, aiming to enhance comprehension of these concepts. By investigating word creation processes and observed alterations, the study illustrates the profound impact of prefixes and suffixes on words, shedding light on their significance in language learning. Students frequently require clarification when distinguishing between inflectional and derivational morphemes during learning. To enhance comprehension of this subject, this present study initially investigated the definitions and subcategories of these two terms outlined in various literary sources. Next, it provided a concise overview of the critical distinctions between inflectional and derivational morphemes. These analyses aim to determine the word created by derivational morphemes, the word formed by inflectional morphemes, the process by which the specified word is formed, and the types of observed alterations. The author implements the descriptive qualitative approach. It will discover that each morpheme possesses its function and influences the base word's meaning, word class, or grammatical function. This study illustrates the impact of prefixes and suffixes on words.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to prove whether students’ writing creativity can be increased by implementing the plot of the Black Adam movie based on Propp’s morphology structure as scaffolding in making a narrative story. This study was conducted because students feel the necessity and lack self-motivation to create their own story. Methods – This research was quantitative with an experimental design. The data collected from the pre-test and post-test results were then analyzed by quantitative analysis through SPSS 25. The sample for this research was 25 students of English education in the first Semester, at the University of Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya. There were two kinds of instruments for this data, such as tests (pre-test and post-test) and questionnaires. The questionnaire was collected by diagram through a Google form.Findings – The result of this study showed students’ writing creativity increased by using the Vladimir Propp structure in making fairy tale stories, with p = 0.00 > 0.05. This suggests that the implementation of the Black Adam movie’s plot in creative writing based on Propp’s Morphology of Fairytale improved students’ writing ability in making narratives and helped students learn more easily. Research Implications – This research is limited by a small sample, a short duration, and a single-group design. Generalizing findings is challenging, and future research should consider larger and more diverse samples, extended study durations, and diverse pedagogical approaches for a comprehensive understanding of effective creative writing instruction.
