Abstract

This study aims to examine the implications of the relationship between the Teacher Curatorial Studies Program (TCSP) learning model that is integrated with gallery residency in improving  the curatorial competence of cultural arts teachers. The TCSP model is designed to provide practical experiences through collaboration with art galleries that allow teachers to be directly involved in the curatorial process, including exhibition management and the drafting of artistic concepts. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interview data collection techniques and observations of cultural arts teachers who participate in this program. The results show that the integration of gallery residencies enriches teachers' learning experiences in terms of organizing exhibitions, managing artworks, and effective visual communication. With hands-on mentoring and hands-on experience in the gallery, teachers' curatorial competence has significantly improved, which is reflected in their ability to design and present art exhibitions in schools. In addition, this model also contributes to increasing teachers' understanding of the importance of managing artworks that are contextual and relevant to local cultural dynamics. Overall, TCSP integrated gallery residencies proved effective in strengthening the curatorial skills of cultural arts teachers, which in turn had a positive effect on the quality of art teaching in schools.

Abstract

This study contributes to small MSMEs in Lowokwaru District, whose tax compliance rates remain low. The objective is to examine tax knowledge and its impact on compliance among MSME operators. This study draws directly from informants experiences using qualitative phenomenological methods such as interviews, observation, and documentation. The results indicate that tax compliance among MSMEs remains low, including the use of e-Filing. MSMEs possess a moral awareness to comply, but exhibit low behavioral control, driven by fears of administrative errors and a lack of direct guidance. The novelty of this research lies in its phenomenological perspective, which reveals the subjective meanings held by MSMEs. This study demonstrates that trust in authorities and positive social experiences not merely formal legal threats significantly influence compliance. The study suggests shifting the tax authority’s approach from enforcement to service and guidance. Thus, to foster a culture of compliance among SMEs.

Abstract

This study aims to clarify how simulation and role-play can improve the speaking skills of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners, examining their effectiveness in increasing fluency, comprehension, and interaction, while also building students' confidence and motivation to use English. Within this framework, Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) plays a crucial role in the research, emphasizing the significance of using meaningful tasks as the core component of the language learning process. A key development in this study is the combination of content creation with social media to support language learning. In today's digital era, the ability to create content has become a vital skill, and its integration into EFL teaching can greatly enhance student involvement. The research employs a thematic analysis approach, examining the learning experiences of students and providing detailed insights for future research efforts. The main research question focuses on how this teaching method can improve students' abilities. The findings provide valuable information for teachers about integrating modern technology into language teaching. Ultimately, this study seeks to understand how students interact with social media and content creation, while offering insights into the potential of these contemporary tools in creating an engaging and dynamic atmosphere for language learning.

Abstract

Speaking fluency is one of challenges for EFL students, particularly in spontaneous spoken. To address these challenges, students often employ fillers as communicative strategies. This research aims to explore the types and functions of fillers applied by EFL students in short spoken analytical exposition at SMA Negeri 3 Semarang. This research applied a qualitative approach with limited frequency counts. The data consists of 30 video recordings of speaking performances produced by 60 eleventh-grade students and were transcribed verbatim. The fillers’ types were classified according to Rose (1998), while their functions were analyzed using Stenstrom’s (1994) framework. The findings revealed a total of 91 fillers, with unlexicalized fillers being the most dominant. This dominance indicates students’ preference for immediate and low-effort strategies when facing linguistic constraints during spontaneous speech. Furthermore, the fillers served five communicative functions: hesitation devices, time-creating devices, empathizing devices, mitigating devices, and editing terms. These results confirm that fillers functioned as strategic resources in spoken language rather than as indicators of low proficiency. Fillers play a significant role in supporting EFL students’ fluency, discourse management, and interactional competence. Therefore, this study suggests that fillers should be pedagogically recognized and integrated into speaking instruction to enhance students’ communicative strategies.

Abstract

Corruption is an extraordinary crime that causes state financial losses and hinders national development. Therefore, its handling is not sufficient only through the main punishment of imprisonment and fines, but also through the recovery of state assets. This study aims to analyze the construction of the criminal confiscation penalty as a substitute for state losses in corruption cases in Indonesia and the mechanism for imposing additional penalties of confiscation of assets based on the due process model. The research method used is normative juridical legal research with a statutory approach, a conceptual approach, and a case approach. Primary legal materials in the form of laws and regulations, court decisions, and secondary legal materials in the form of literature and scientific journals were analyzed qualitatively. The results of the study indicate that the criminal confiscation penalty is an additional penalty that has a strategic function to eliminate profits from crime, recover state losses, and provide a deterrent effect to perpetrators of corruption. The legal basis is found in the Corruption Eradication Law which allows for the confiscation of assets from corruption and other assets belonging to convicts to pay compensation. The mechanism for imposing additional penalties of asset confiscation must be implemented through the stages of investigation, prosecution, trial examination, judge's decision, and execution in a legal, proportional, and accountable manner. The due process model approach demands protection of the rights of the accused and third parties acting in good faith, so that asset confiscation is not carried out arbitrarily. Therefore, additional penalties of asset confiscation become an effective instrument in eradicating corruption when implemented based on the principles of legality, justice, proportionality, and legal certainty.
