Abstract

This study examines the distribution of Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) in the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) development area, Sepaku Sub-District, East Kalimantan, an area with relatively low seismic activity compared to other parts of Indonesia. However, earthquake risks remain a concern due to the planned relocation of Indonesia's capital. Using the Kanai approach and seismic data from microtremor measurements and two significant earthquakes (Paser Regency, 2022, and Palu, 2018), PGA values ranged from 0.69 gal to 34.29 gal. The results show that the 4.5 magnitude Paser earthquake produced PGA values between 0.69 and 3.17 gal (average 1.8 gal), placing most areas in the low-risk zone. In contrast, the distant 7.2 magnitude Palu earthquake generated PGA values between 2.9 and 34.29 gal (average 15.6 gal), placing several areas in the moderate-risk zone. These findings underscore the significant impact of earthquake magnitude on PGA, with larger, more distant earthquakes causing stronger ground shaking. In conclusion, despite East Kalimantan's low local seismic activity, the study highlights the vulnerability of the IKN area to strong ground shaking from distant, high-magnitude earthquakes. This underscores the need for continued monitoring and preparedness, with tailored earthquake risk mitigation strategies, including reinforced construction standards and geotechnical assessments, to ensure the region's resilience to both local and distant seismic events. These insights are crucial for integrating seismic resilience into IKN's urban planning and the sustainable development of Indonesia's new capital city.

Abstract

Abstrak Survei awal di Jalan Soekarno Hatta KM. 15 RT. 32 Kampung Banyumas, Kelurahan Karang Joang, Balikpapan mengidentifikasi dua permasalahan utama, yaitu keterbatasan pasokan air bersih dan jumlah volume air tergenang yang dihasilkan dari air sumur bor. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di RT 32 Kelurahan Karangjoang, khususnya di Gang Sayudi, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan akses masyarakat terhadap air bersih melalui pendampingan pembuatan biopori dan filtrasi air tanah. Metode pelaksanaan melibatkan pertemuan dengan masyarakat, pelatihan langsung, dan sosialisasi rutin. Kegiatan meliputi pelatihan dan penyuluhan, praktik langsung di lapangan membuat biopori dan sistem filtrasi air tanah, serta monitoring untuk mengukur keberhasilan dan efektivitas sistem. Pembuatan biopori memanfaatkan sampah daun serta sampah organik basah dari limbah rumah tangga di Kampung Banyumas. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan infiltrasi air ke dalam tanah, pengurangan limbah organik, dan peningkatan kualitas air. Sistem filter yang terdiri dari saringan, karbon aktif, mangan zeolit, pasir silika, dan kerikil efektif dalam mengurangi kekeruhan, zat padat terlarut, dan kandungan besi dan mangan. Melalui rangkaian kegiatan ini, diharapkan dapat memberikan solusi komprehensif bagi permasalahan yang teridentifikasi dan memberikan dampak positif bagi masyarakat di Kampung Banyumas, Balikpapan, dengan mendukung praktik pengelolaan sampah yang lebih ramah lingkungan. Kata kunci: filter air; biopori; air tanah; air bersih. AbstractInitial survey on Jalan Soekarno Hatta KM. 15 RT. 32 Kampung Banyumas, Kelurahan Karang Joang, Balikpapan identified two main problems, namely limited clean water supply and the volume of stagnant water produced from drilled well water. Community service activities in RT 32 Kelurahan Karangjoang, especially in Gang Sayudi, aim to improve community access to clean water through assistance in making biopores and groundwater filtration. The implementation method involves meetings with the community, direct training, and routine socialization. Activities include training and counseling, direct practice in the field in making biopores and groundwater filtration systems, and monitoring to measure the success and effectiveness of the system. The creation of biopores utilizes leaf waste and wet organic waste from household waste in Kampung Banyumas. The results showed increased water infiltration into the soil, reduced organic waste, and improved water quality. The filter system consisting of filters, activated carbon, manganese zeolite, silica sand, and gravel is effective in reducing turbidity, dissolved solids, and iron and manganese content. Through this series of activities, it is hoped that it can provide a comprehensive solution to the identified problems and provide a positive impact on the community in Kampung Banyumas, Balikpapan, by supporting more environmentally friendly waste management practices. Keywords: water filter; biopore; groundwater; clean water.

Abstract

Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) is one of the state universities that is currently actively developing educational facilities and infrastructure. Geologically, ITK is built on the Kampung Baru sedimentary rock formation, which has a low level of soil bearing capacity. This can cause damage to the building if the determination of the foundation depth does not have the right bearing data. The study aimed to determine the subsurface structure in the ITK campus area based on the speed of seismic wave propagation and to determine the distribution of subsurface hard rock layers in the ITK campus development area. The research methods used are field surveys, data acquisition, seismic wave recording data, travel time curves, 2D fast wave propagation models, and interpretation. The research results obtained the value of the first layer wave propagation velocity on tracks 1,2,3,4, and 5, ranging from 128.7 - 201.9 m/s. The second layer on tracks 1,2,3,4, and 5 ranged from 272.4 - 428.0 m/s. The research concludes that it can determine the subsurface structure based on the fast wave propagation value, geological conditions, and outcrop findings, namely the first layer in the form of soil and the second layer in the form of sand clay. Abstract

Abstrak Pembelajaran kontekstual yang mengintegrasikan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan karakter masih jarang diterapkan secara optimal di tingkat sekolah dasar. SDIT Al-Munawwaroh Balikpapan sebagai mitra kegiatan memiliki semangat kuat dalam mendukung inovasi pembelajaran lingkungan, namun belum memiliki sarana praktik pertanian yang memadai. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk membangun Smart Hydroponic Greenhouse sebagai media pembelajaran aktif berbasis teknologi hidroponik yang ramah lingkungan dan mudah dioperasikan oleh siswa. Mitra kegiatan adalah SDIT Al-Munawwaroh yang memiliki 93 siswa dan 9 guru, dengan lokasi di Kelurahan Karang Joang, Kecamatan Balikpapan Utara, Kalimantan Timur. Metode pelaksanaan terdiri dari tiga tahap: survei dan perencanaan, pembangunan greenhouse dan instalasi sistem hidroponik metode NFT, serta pelatihan dan pendampingan siswa dalam praktik bercocok tanam, pemantauan pertumbuhan tanaman, dan panen. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan tingkat keberhasilan tumbuh tanaman di atas 90%, keterlibatan aktif seluruh siswa dalam praktik berkebun, serta integrasi kegiatan dengan pembelajaran di kelas. Guru menyatakan peningkatan minat dan pemahaman siswa terhadap sains dan lingkungan. Greenhouse ini juga menjadi sarana pembentukan karakter, khususnya tanggung jawab, kerja sama, dan kepedulian lingkungan. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa teknologi pertanian sederhana dapat diadopsi sebagai media pembelajaran yang efektif dan berkelanjutan di sekolah dasar, serta dapat direplikasi pada lembaga pendidikan serupa. Kata kunci: berkebun; greenhouse pintar; hidroponik; metode NFT; pendidikan dasar. Abstract Contextual learning that integrates science, technology, and character education is still rarely implemented effectively at the elementary school level. SDIT Al-Munawwaroh Balikpapan, as the partner institution, has shown strong enthusiasm for promoting environmental-based learning, yet lacks adequate facilities for practical agricultural education. This community service program aimed to establish a Smart Hydroponic Greenhouse as an active learning medium based on environmentally friendly hydroponic technology that is easy to operate by students. The partner, SDIT Al-Munawwaroh, consists of 93 students and 9 teachers and is located in Karang Joang Subdistrict, North Balikpapan District, East Kalimantan. The program was implemented in three stages: initial survey and planning, construction of the greenhouse and installation of the NFT-based hydroponic system, followed by training and mentoring of students and teachers in plant cultivation, growth monitoring, and harvesting. The results showed a plant growth success rate above 90%, active student involvement in gardening practices, and successful integration with classroom learning. Teachers observed increased student interest and understanding in science and environmental topics. The greenhouse also served as a character development platform, particularly in nurturing responsibility, cooperation, and environmental awareness. This program demonstrates that simple agricultural technology can be effectively adopted as a sustainable and replicable learning tool for primary education institutions. Keywords: gardening; smart greenhouse; hydroponics; NFT Method; primary education

Abstract

Abstrak Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi sains dan minat belajar siswa melalui pendampingan ekstrakurikuler berbasis STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) di SDIT Al-Munawwaroh Balikpapan. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra adalah kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang tersedia masih didominasi aktivitas fisik seperti olahraga dan pramuka, sementara kegiatan berbasis sains dan teknologi belum dikembangkan secara sistematis. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan alternatif pembelajaran yang menyenangkan sekaligus aplikatif bagi siswa sekolah dasar melalui eksperimen sederhana berbasis STEM. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi program kepada sekolah, penyusunan modul eksperimen, pendampingan dan praktikum langsung oleh tim kepada 93 siswa kelas 1–6, serta refleksi hasil bersama guru. Topik eksperimen meliputi gaya apung, bangun ruang, filtrasi air, mobil balon, lava lamp, roket air, dan hidroponik. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi partisipasi siswa, kemampuan menjelaskan kembali konsep, serta wawancara dengan guru. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan partisipasi aktif siswa hingga 85%, kemampuan menjelaskan konsep sains sebesar 72%, serta penguatan softskill seperti kerjasama dan komunikasi ilmiah. Program ini efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa, sekaligus memberikan nilai tambah bagi sekolah dalam diversifikasi kegiatan ekstrakurikuler. Kegiatan ini dapat dijadikan model alternatif pembelajaran kontekstual berbasis praktik untuk sekolah dasar lainnya. Kata kunci: STEM; eksperimen sederhana; ekstrakurikuler; sekolah dasar; literasi sains. Abstract This community service activity aims to improve scientific literacy and student learning interest through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)-based extracurricular mentoring at SDIT Al-Munawwaroh Balikpapan. The problem faced by the partners is that available extracurricular activities are still dominated by physical activities such as sports and scouts, while science and technology-based activities have not been systematically developed. The purpose of this activity is to provide an alternative learning that is fun and applicable for elementary school students through simple STEM-based experiments. The methods used include program socialization to schools, preparation of experimental modules, mentoring and direct practicums by the team for 93 students in grades 1–6, and reflection on the results with teachers. Experiment topics include buoyancy, geometric shapes, water filtration, balloon cars, lava lamps, water rockets, and hydroponics. Evaluation was carried out through observation of student participation, the ability to re-explain concepts, and interviews with teachers. The results showed an increase in active student participation of up to 85%, the ability to explain scientific concepts by 72%, and strengthening soft skills such as collaboration and scientific communication. This program is effective in improving students' science process skills, while also providing added value to the school by diversifying extracurricular activities. This activity can be used as an alternative model for practice-based contextual learning for other elementary schools. Keywords: STEM; simple experiments; extracurricular; elementary school; science literacy.

Abstract

Identified subsurface composition remains one of the important things in development, such as finds out potential that is below the surface, this research in Institut Teknologi Kalimantan Campus (ITK). This study aims to identify distribute potential values and finds out the source of anomalies in the ITK Campus area. This study uses the Self-Potential method with a fixed-base technique. The data obtained in the form of potential difference (delta V) data, base potential data and measurement point coordinates. The data was corrected by daily base variation, daily correction and reference correction. After obtaining a potential value from the correction at each measurement point, the data processing was done using surfer 11 software. The results of data processing were obtained isopotential contour map and qualitative interpretation which could be seen distribution of potential different values. On the isopotential contour map, slicing of two cross sections selected indicates the source of anomaly. Anomalous potential values of 45 mV to -55 mV indicated anomalous sources namely electrolyte potential in groundwater with positive anomaly values negative up to hundreds of mV. And, there was a potential for a liquid flowwith a positive and negative anomaly ≤ 100 mV

Abstract

Microtremor analysis has been done in the Sepaku Sub-District as a part of the New Capital City of Indonesia. This study aims to determine the characteristics of microtremors in the Sepaku Sub-District using Spectrum Analysis and Time-Frequency Analysis (TFA). Data in this study were taken using a seismometer on the 18 measurement points. The data were processed using default analysis from Geopsy software. Spectrum analysis and TFA used Fourier Transform to change time domain data into the frequency domain. Both analysis ways result in the characteristic microtremor data in the research area. The spectrum analysis data obtained shows two frequency ranges with maximum peaks: middle-frequency (5-8.8 Hz) and high-frequency (11.5-17.6 Hz). Afterward, the TFA shows similar results, where the characteristics of microtremor data are divided into two zones. The maximum peak occurs at the middle-frequency range of 5-10 Hz, and the high frequency ranges above 10 Hz

Abstract

Sinabung Volcano is located in the Karo Highlands, Karo Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia, with a peak of 2460 meters above sea level. This volcano experienced an increase in volcanic activity in the April-October 2021 period, so it is necessary to analyse volcanic seismicity to determine the hypocenter distribution of the volcano. This study aims to determine the hypocenter distribution and classification of volcanic earthquake types based on seismogram recording data of Sinabung Volcano at four stations, namely LKW, BGR, MDD and SGR stations. The method used in this research is Geiger's method with adaptive damping (GAD) to determine the distribution of hypocenters. The results showed that the hypocenter distribution gathered below the crater centre with depths from 0.172 km to 7.139 km. The determination of the hypocenter distribution of volcanic earthquakes is expected to provide information on the depth of the earthquake to determine the movement of magma and the characteristics of events that occur during the pre-eruption process of Sinabung Volcano so that this data can be used for mitigation decision making when there is an increase in the activity of Sinabung Volcano.

Abstract

Abstrak UMKM di Pokdarwis Meranti menghadapi masalah utama berupa rendahnya kualitas foto produk yang digunakan untuk promosi, akibat keterbatasan kemampuan teknis dalam pengambilan gambar. Kondisi ini membuat daya tarik visual produk menjadi kurang optimal. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan dasar fotografi produk bagi pelaku UMKM agar mampu menghasilkan foto yang lebih menarik dan layak promosi. Untuk itu, tim pengabdian menyelenggarakan pelatihan fotografi produk bagi 50 pelaku UMKM di Pasar Senggol Wisata Meranti. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi penyampaian materi, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung dengan memanfaatkan peralatan sederhana seperti mini studio portabel dan kamera ponsel. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan baik secara kualitatif maupun kuantitatif. Data kuesioner pasca pelatihan memperlihatkan bahwa lebih dari 80% peserta merasa pemahamannya meningkat, mampu mengatur pencahayaan dan sudut pengambilan gambar, serta berkomitmen menggunakan hasil foto untuk promosi di media sosial maupun marketplace. Secara kualitatif, peserta menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dan mampu mempraktikkan teknik fotografi sederhana secara mandiri. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa pelatihan fotografi produk berbasis teknologi sederhana dapat menjadi solusi praktis untuk meningkatkan kualitas promosi UMKM, memperkuat daya saing produk lokal, serta membuka peluang peningkatan pemasaran digital. Kata kunci: fotografi produk; UMKM; pokdarwis; Pasar Senggol; promosi digital Abstract The MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in the Meranti Tourism Group (Pokdarwis Wisata Meranti) face a major problem in the form of low-quality product photos used for promotions, due to limited technical skills in taking photos. This condition reduces the visual appeal of products. The goal of this community service activity is to improve basic product photography skills for MSMEs so they can produce more attractive and promotional photos. To that end, the community service team held product photography training for 50 MSMEs at the Senggol Market in Meranti Tourism. The implementation method included material delivery, demonstrations, and hands-on practice using simple equipment such as a portable mini studio and a mobile phone camera. The results of the activity showed significant improvements both qualitatively and quantitatively. Post-training questionnaire data showed that more than 80% of participants felt their understanding had improved, were able to adjust lighting and shooting angles, and were committed to using the photos for promotions on social media and marketplaces. Qualitatively, participants showed high enthusiasm and were able to practice simple photography techniques independently. This activity proves that low-tech product photography training can be a practical solution to improve the quality of MSME promotions, strengthen the competitiveness of local products, and open up opportunities for increased digital marketing. Keywords: product photography; MSMEs; pokdarwis; Senggol Market; digital promotion.
