Abstract

Kunyit (Curcuma longa) adalah tanaman obat dan rempah yang digunakan luas di Indonesia. Produksi kunyit mengalami peningkatan, mencapai 203.457,53 ton pada 2018. Tanaman ini memiliki peran penting dalam pengobatan tradisional, terutama sebagai komponen jamu. Pertumbuhan dan reproduksi kunyit dihadapi tantangan, terutama dalam perbanyakan konvensional yang memakan waktu lama dan memerlukan lahan luas. Oleh karena itu, teknik kultur jaringan menggunakan fitohormon benzil aminopurin (BAP) menjadi alternatif untuk menghasilkan bibit kunyit secara efisien dan cepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pengaruh hormon sitokinin benzil aminopurin (BAP) terhadap pertumbuhan tunas kunyit dengan variasi konsentrasi. Metode eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan (kontrol, 1 ppm BAP, 3 ppm BAP, 5 ppm BAP) diulang lima kali dan diukur selama empat minggu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi BAP 3 ppm dan 5 ppm memberikan hasil yang serupa pada jumlah tunas yang muncul, panjang tunas tertinggi dihasilkan oleh perlakuan BAP 5 ppm. Meskipun demikian, panjang akar terpanjang terjadi pada konsentrasi BAP 5 ppm. Kesimpulan penelitian menyatakan bahwa konsentrasi BAP 3 ppm dan 5 ppm memberikan hasil optimal pada pertumbuhan tunas kunyit. Panjang akar terpanjang terjadi pada konsentrasi BAP 5 ppm, menunjukkan kompleksitas regulasi hormonal dalam pertumbuhan tanaman.

Abstract

Retrieval practice is a well-known additional learning strategy after class to maintain long-term memory. This study investigates its effect on students' concept mastery, cognitive ability, and cognitive anxiety in learning about the immune system. Using purposive sampling, 128 eleventh-grade students from a public school in Bandung were divided into two groups: 67 in the experimental group and 61 in the control group. In both groups, immune system learning was given three times over three weeks, and retrieval practice was given three days after classroom learning through Google Forms. Concept mastery and cognitive ability were assessed with a 30-item multiple-choice test, while cognitive anxiety was measured with a 27-item questionnaire with nine scales. To see the effect of retrieval practice and the relationship between the data, they were analyzed using T-test or Mann-Whitney and Spearman's rank. The results showed that retrieval practice significantly improved concept mastery and cognitive ability, and reduced students' cognitive anxiety. However, there was no correlation between concept mastery and cognitive anxiety. These results suggest that cognitive anxiety is not related to concept mastery. Cognitive anxiety is more directly affected by retrieval practice.

Abstract

Kangkung darat (Ipomoea reptans Poir) adalah salah satu jenis kangkung yang mudah dibudidayakan meskipun begitu, di kota besar sulit menanam kangkung karena keterbatasan lahan. Digunakanlah metode kultur air dalam budidayanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pupuk organik cair (POC) berbahan dasar kulit pisang (Musa paradisiaca) dan daun kelor (Moringa oleifera) terhadap pertumbuhan kangkung darat dengan menggunakan metode kultur air.  Penelitian dilakukan selama 14 hari, di laboratorium Fisiologi FPMIPA Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancang Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 kali pengulangan dari setiap perlakuan. Parameter penelitian ini yaitu jumlah daun, tinggi cabang, panjang akar, jumlah cabang, berat basah batang dan berat basah akar. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji Anova pada taraf 95%. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pupuk POC tidak memiliki pengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun, tinggi cabang, panjang akar, jumlah cabang, berat basah batang dan berat basah akar. Tetapi pengaruh dapat dilihat apabila dibandingkan dengan kontrol.Kata kunci: Kangkung darat, Kultur air, Musa paradisiaca,  Moringa oleifera

Abstract

Kamuflase merupakan salah satu bentuk adaptasi morfologis makhluk hidup agar tidak dapat dikenali oleh pemangsa dengan mengatur warna tubuhnya sesuai dengan latar belakang objek di lingkungannya. Keragaman hewan yang memiliki kemampuan kamuflase salah satunya dapat diamati pada batang pohon. Jenis pohon dengan warna dan struktur berbeda dapat menjadi tempat hidup bagi spesies dan tingkat kamuflase yang berbeda pula. Salah satu tempat dengan keragaman flora dan fauna yang tinggi dan masih terlindungi adalah di Taman Hutan Raya Ir. Djuanda. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk adaptasi kamuflase dan kesesuaian morfologi hewan yang hidup pada dua jenis batang pohon yaitu Pterygota horsfieldii dan Khaya anthotheca pada tiga plot berbeda di Taman Hutan Raya Ir. Djuanda, Bandung. Data diambil dengan metode VES (Visual Encounter Survey) dengan mengambil gambar menggunakan kamera HP Xiaomi Redmi Note 10s. Hasil dokumentasi yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis rata-rata nilai RGB (Red, Green, Blue) menggunakan perangkat lunak ImageJ untuk mengetahui nilai Euclidean Distance. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat beberapa famili hewan yang diidentifikasi dengan nilai rata-rata RGB yang paling mendekati rata-rata RGB pohon pada plot 1, 2, dan 3 secara berturut-turut adalah famili Gryllidae, Araneidae, dan Formicidae. Selain itu, nilai Euclidean Distance terkecil ada pada plot 3 yang menunjukkan tingkat kamuflase hewan yang paling baik. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perbandingan nilai rata-rata RGB hewan dan rata-rata RGB pohon tidak berbeda jauh pada ketiga plot. Hal itu menunjukkan bahwa seluruh hewan pada ketiga plot memiliki kemampuan kamuflase yang baik.

Abstract

One of the most promising agricultural commodities is the cultivation of mangoes. One way that can be used tomaintain the quality and freshness of the fruit in a simple way is to do an emulsion coating. The purpose of thisresearch was to determine the effect of citronella oil and sesame oil emulsion coating on the quality and storabilityof mango (Mangifera indica L.). The method used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD)with two factorial treatments and controls. The first factor was citronella oil under a concentration of 0.5% and1%. The second factor is sesame oil under a concentration of 0.5% and 1%. The two oils were combined in theemulsion into three treatment combinations, namely S0W2, S2W0, and S1W1. The parameters measured in theobservations were hardness, damage, and glucose levels in the fruit. The results showed that the level of hardnessof mangoes decreased in the four treatments. Then it was found that there was an effect of delaying the maturityof the fruit with the S1W1 treatment because it was not damaged like the other treatments. While glucose levelsin the fruit have increased due to the ripening process. Coating treatment with a ratio of citronella oil concentrationof 0.5% to 0.5% sesame oil is the most effective treatment combination in maintaining quality and shelf lifebecause this treatment can delay damage to mangoes.

Abstract

Yellow pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) is an agricultural product that is rich in beta carotene or provitamin A, so it is very good for health. This study aims to determine the effect of storage duration on the germination of yellow pumpkin seeds and was carried out in Bandung from 24 November to 15 December 2022. The experiment was carried out by treating S0=seeds not stored, S1=seeds stored for 1 day, S2 = seeds stored for 3 days, S3 = seeds stored for 5 days, and S4 = seeds stored for 7 days. Each treatment was repeated 3 times with a total of 10 seeds in each repetition. Seeds are planted in soil media as deep as 0.5 cm in a clear plastic container without being covered. What was observed was the germination percentage in each experiment. The results obtained from the experiment showed that seed germination duration had an effect on the germination percentage of yellow pumpkins. The highest percentage of seed germination was achieved in the 5-day storage treatment. Keywords: Cucurbita moschata, yellow pumpkin, germination, storage   Abstrak Labu kuning (Cucurbita moschata) merupakan salah satu hasil pertanian yang kaya akan beta karoten atau provitamin A sehingga sangat baik untuk kesehatan. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama penyimpanan terhadap daya perkecambahan biji labu kuning dan telah dilakukan di Bandung mulai tanggal 24 November hingga 15 Desember 2022. Percobaan dilakukan dengan memberikan perlakuan pada S0=biji tidak disimpan, S1= biji disimpan selama 1 hari, S2= biji disimpan selama 3 hari, S3=biji disimpan selama 5 hari, dan S4=biji disimpan selama 7 hari. Masing-masing perlakuan dilakukan ulangan sebanyak tiga kali dengan jumlah 10 biji pada setiap pengulangan. Biji ditanam pada media tanah sedalam 0,5 cm yang berada di dalam wadah plastik bening tanpa ditutup. Hal yang diamati adalah persentase daya perkecambahan pada setiap percobaan. Hasil yang didapat dari percobaan menunjukkan bahwa lama penyimpanan biji berpengaruh terhadap daya perkecambahan labu kuning. Persentase daya perkecambahan biji tertinggi dicapai pada perlakuan penyimpanan biji selama 5 hari. Kata kunci: Cucurbita moschata, labu kuning, perkecambahan, penyimpanan.

Abstract

: The Effects of Problem Based Learning Open-Ended Type towards The Improving of Students’ Problem Solving Skills. This study aimed to determine the effect of using openended PBM models in improving problem-solving skills of students. This study was a quasiexperimental with pretest posttest designs not equivalent. Samples were students in class X1 and X6 selected from the population by using cluster random sampling. This research data were in the form of quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data were obtained from the average value of pretest and posttest that were statistically analyzed using t-test at 5% confidence level through SPSS 17. Qualitative data were in the form of a description of the problem solving ability of students, student learning activity data, and the questionnaire responses of students to use open-ended PBM model which were analyzed descriptively. The average percentage of students’ activity in all aspects observed in the experimental class is higher than the control class (experimental = 81.32; control = 64.22). Abstract

Junior high school students’ understanding of the nature of science. Objective: The purpose of this research is to explore the junior high school students’ understanding of nature of science (NOS). Methods: The survey in this research was conducted in 8th grade as many as 80 students from three schools in East Prabumulih Sub-District, South Sumatera Province, Indonesia, which was determined by stratified random sampling technique. Students’ understanding of 7 aspects of NOS was measured using a questionnaire containing 35 items consisting of 4 Likert scale statements (scale 1-5) and 1 question open-ended responses to each aspect of NOS. Findings: The results showed that students’ understanding of NOS is still inadequate. The students’ understanding of NOS that inadequate shown through by the small percentage of the informed view category on all aspects of the NOS measured, both Likert scale items and open-ended responses. Conclusion: These findings emphasize the need for learning to improve understanding of NOS for students.Keywords: nature of science, survey method, students understanding.DOI: 10.23960/jpp.v10.i2.202001
