Abstract

Acrochordon or known as skin tag is a benign growth on the skin that is usually small and soft. However, in some rare cases, the size of acrochordon can enlarge significantly and is called large acrochordon. One case of giant acrochordon was reported in a 23-year-old woman at the dermatovenereology polyclinic of a hospital in Makassar. The diagnosis was made based on clinical features, histopathological examination. The results of the examination of this case from the anamnesis results obtained complaints of a lump that was initially small 6 years ago and then left to grow in number and enlarge. The results of the physical examination found 1 large soft mass with a stalk. The patient was treated with excision biopsy of the lesion and clinical improvement. Supporting examinations include histopathological biopsy examinations. This patient was treated with oral and topical antibiotics and analgesics after an excision biopsy and control after 7 days post-excision. Control day 7 excision wound is not perfectly dry and closed this is caused by damp and closed, the groin/inguinal area is often covered by clothing and sweats easily, creating a humid environment that is not ideal for wound healing. Control day 14, the wound dries and the overall aff hecting in this case 3 stitches, the pain is decreasing.

Abstract

Dermatophytes, which are fungi that grow on keratin, are the cause of tinea corporis, a superficial fungal infection of the skin of the body (apart from the scalp, face, and groin). At the dermatovenereology polyclinic of a Makassar hospital, a 19-year-old teen was diagnosed with tinea corporis. The diagnosis was made based on clinical features, direct microscopic examination (10% KOH). Long, branched hyphae with some hyphae starting to separate. The patient was treated with topical terbinafine and clinical and mycological improvement. Therapy was continued with topical terbinafine for a month. Terbinafine is a fungicidal antifungal drug that works by inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis. Patients treated topically were given topical terbinafine applied twice a day. Without ergosterol, the fungal cell membrane is damaged and cell function is disrupted, causing fungal death. Terbinafine is the first line for tinea corporis and cruris, because it is more effective and has a shorter treatment duration than ketoconazole or other azoles. The results of this case examination after 14 days of treatment showed improvement, negative KOH results, clinical symptoms such as itching were greatly reduced and topical medication was continued. The patient was asked to come for a check-up, treatment continued until the lesions on the back disappeared.

Abstract

Erythrodema or also called exfoliative dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disease with erythema and fine scales that affect almost the entire surface of the skin. Histopathological examination will vary and sometimes be non-specific, depending on the triggering disease. Generally there is hyperkeratosis with focal parakeratosis, mild acanthosis and chronic inflammatory cell infiltration. The author would like to report a case of erythroderma in a 62 year old woman who was hospitalized for 8 days. The diagnosis is made based on the history, clinical picture and histopathological examination. The results of the case report found that skin tissue preparations showed that the epidermis had regenerated. The superficial dermis appears as mild perivascular lymphocytic accompanied by 1-2 eosinophils.

Abstract

A malignant tumor that starts in the basal layer of the epidermis is called basal cell carcinoma (BCC). The most prevalent type of skin cancer, BCC, usually appears on the face of middle-aged or older individuals. They originate from the epidermis' basal keratinocytes, are locally invasive, and hardly ever spread. One of cases BCC was reported in a 43 years old man at dermato-venereology department hospital in Makassar. Diagnosis was established based on history taking, clinical features, histopathology examination through Modified Mohs Micrographic Surgery Technique (MMS). The management for this patient was rotation flap technique and gave a good improvement.

Abstract

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), previously referred to as basal cell epithelioma, this is the most prevalent cancer in people. Rarely can BCC form on mucosal membranes or on the palms and soles; it usually appears on sun-damaged skin. Metastasis is uncommon in basal cell carcinoma, which typically grows slowly. BCC is rarely lethal, but when therapy is insufficient or delayed, it can be extremely damaging and damage local tissue. BCC typically manifests clinically as a pink or flesh-colored pearly papule with telangiectatic or ulcerated arteries. Although it can also affect the limbs, BCC usually affects the head or face. Case report: A 70-year-old woman came to the dermatovenerology polyclinic in Makassar city with complaints of a lump on her nose that had been getting bigger and sometimes bleeding. The size of the tumor lesion was about 1.5 cm, excision of the lesion was performed under local anesthesia considering that there was impaired lung function from the chest X-ray. Follow-up 5 days before wound closure while waiting for the biopsy results, bleeding was minimal and the biopsy results showed pigmented basal cell carcinoma with tumor-free edges. Closure of excision wound with simple suture showed good suture viability, without signs of tissue necrosis or infection at the previous lesion site. Treatment of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is highly dependent on the anatomical location and histologic characteristics of the lesion. Excision was performed due to its high-risk location on the face.
