Abstract

Abstrak. The purpose of this study was to develop a Mixed Reality (MR)-based training model for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in vocational education, specifically for students of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Makassar. This development research employed the Research and Development (R&D) approach, consisting of the stages of needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The MR training model was developed through the creation of interactive simulation scenarios that integrate real and virtual environments to support students' understanding of OHS procedures. Expert validation was conducted to assess the model’s feasibility, followed by limited trials involving vocational students to obtain empirical feedback on usability and learning effectiveness. The results of expert validation indicated that the MR-based training model was categorized as highly valid, with an overall mean score of 3.82 across indicators including construction, content, language, interactivity, technical performance, and procedural accuracy. Student responses also showed highly positive perceptions, where more than 90% of participants agreed or strongly agreed that the implementation of Mixed Reality enhanced their understanding of OHS procedures, improved readiness before practice, facilitated independent learning, and increased engagement during training sessions. The MR simulations provided a safe, immersive, and risk-free learning environment that supported the development of OHS competencies. In conclusion, the Mixed Reality–based training model developed in this study is feasible, effective, and recommended for broader implementation in vocational education. The model significantly improves students’ comprehension of OHS concepts, strengthens risk identification skills, and supports active and independent learning. It is also recommended that institutions enhance supporting infrastructure and expand scenario development to maximize the benefits of MR-based training in OHS programs.Kata Kunci: Mixed Reality, Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3), Pendidikan Vokasi, Model Pelatihan, Simulasi Interaktif.

Abstract

The community service conducted by the team of lecturers from Universitas Negeri Makassar was held at the Electronics Workshop, Department of Educational Electronics, with 15 beginner students registered as participants. The problems identified by the research team, in collaboration with the participants during the socialization, were as follows: (1) The lack of understanding among beginner participants regarding the practice of Arduino-based microcontroller with Wokwi, (2) New students, as beginners, found it difficult to practice with Arduino-based microcontrollers using Wokwi, (3) Beginner participants in the microcontroller practice needed guidance and mentoring from competent individuals to effectively simulate the Arduino-based microcontroller with Wokwi. To address the problems faced by the partners, the solutions offered through this Community Service Program (PKM) were as follows: (1) Providing training to stimulate the potential and interest of the participants, (2) Offering training that integrates knowledge (mathematics, science, and technology) with hardware and software for beginner participants, inviting competent speakers in the field of Arduino-based microcontroller using Wokwi, (3) Conducting training and mentoring to help participants demonstrate Arduino-based microcontroller practice with Wokwi, led by a competent instructor. The method of implementing this activity involved training for beginner students, specifically new students. After being trained, they were mentored to apply the knowledge gained in order to enhance their professionalism in using the Wokwi application. The training was carried out in two main stages: (1) Preparation phase, and (2) Implementation phase of the training. Overall, the results of the Arduino-based microcontroller practice training in the Electronics Workshop of the Educational Electronics Department can be concluded as satisfactory and successful in accordance with the planned objectives. This is reflected in various indicators, including the alignment between planning and implementation, the attendance rate of participants in each session, and the results of the participants' feedback surveys. All the materials planned in the training proposal were successfully delivered as intended. The attendance of the training participants in each session reached 100% of the total 15 registered participants. The activity was also successful in improving the participants' knowledge, skills, and motivation to become more proficient in using the Wokwi application.

Abstract

Elementary school has a crucial role in forming students' literacy and numeracy skills, which are the foundation for learning at higher levels of education. Various studies show that literacy and numeracy levels among students still require serious attention. The Teaching Campus Program, as part of the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative, is here to answer this challenge by involving students in efforts to improve the quality of education in primary and secondary schools in Indonesia. The Teaching Campus 6 program focuses on improving the literacy and numeracy skills of students at SMPN 1 Turikale and SD Inpres 5/81 Passippo. Activities will be carried out from July-December 2023 with the target participants being all students in grades 1-6 in Presidential Instruction 5/81 Passippo and specifically grades 8 at junior high school level. The implementation of this program is carried out through 5 stages, namely orientation and introduction of students to the Field Supervisor, explanation of KM6 activities, coordination with the district office and school principal, presentation of the work program and monitoring and evaluation. Campus teaching activities prove the importance of direct interaction between supervisor and students. This allows for the exchange of ideas, clarification of concepts, and more in-depth discussion of the material. The use of the latest facilities and technology makes a major contribution to improving the quality of teaching. The use of multimedia, interactive classrooms, and online resources can enrich students' learning experiences.
