Abstract

The loss of oil fluid flow in the piping system in the petroleum industry due to friction is the cause of low efficiency. To reduce friction loss, the viscosity of petroleum can be lowered by adding water as a mixture. Actually, the flow loss in a piping system is influenced by several factors including flow pattern, fluid type, flow velocity, flow pressure and pipe diameter. This study aims to determine the effect of flow patterns on changes in velocity in the two-phase flow of oil and water in a piping system. This numerical analysis research was carried out using Fluent 6.2 software with variations in the velocity of the oil-water mixture: 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 m/s. The simulation results show that the greatest pressure loss occurs at a fluid velocity of 0.6 m/s where the flow is stratified mixed. While the smallest pressure loss at a mixture velocity of 0.2 m/s when the flow is stratified smooth. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the increase in fluid flow velocity has a positive correlation with the increase in the value of flow losses in the pipe.

Abstract

Facilities in workshops have a significant impact on the achievement of learning outcomes. This study aims to explore the relationship between the completeness of workshop facilities and the achievement of learning lathe machining techniques for grade XI students at SMK Negeri 1 Bukittinggi. The research approach used was quantitative correlational with a population of 64 students, and 32 students were taken as samples using the simple random sampling method. The measuring device used is a questionnaire with 34 items. The results showed that the completeness of workshop facilities was rated high with a percentage of 75%, while student learning outcomes were less than 75% with a percentage of 40.6%. Through the correlation hypothesis test, it was found that R count (0.450) < R table (0.349), indicating that there was significant relationship between the completeness of workshop facilities and the learning outcomes of lathe machining techniques for grade XI students at SMK Negeri 1 Bukittinggi.

Abstract

This study was triggered by the existing teaching modules for the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) subjects taught at vocational high schools, which do not align with the Freedom to Learn-Independent Campus (FLIC) learning objectives, and do not provide a systematic organization. In order to enhance the learning experience, this research developed a new learning module that integrated Problem-based Learning (PBL), promoting critical thinking, and the practical application of theoretical concepts, following the FLIC curriculum. Utilizing a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Instructional Design Institute (IDI) model, this study involved two welding instructors and four lecturers as validators to assess the content and usability of the module. The IDI model comprised three steps: instructional (define), development (develop), and institute (evaluate). The research findings regarding the validity assessment by subject matter experts yielded a final validity score of 0.924, while media and language experts provided a score of 0.936, meeting the valid criteria. The practical usability test of the learning module resulted in a score of 94%, indicating that it is highly practical for students to use as learning media. Based on the validity and practicality assessments of the developed module, it can be concluded that the SMAW learning module is highly practical to use as teaching media, aligning with FLIC curriculum.

Abstract

Beside interaction, attitude is another factor that cause the lack of understanding in learning process. Learning attitude is needed for success and smoothness of the learning processed. The purposed of the studied was to determines the correlation between attitudes and learning outcomes and how much influence the two variables had. Quantitative research with correlation analysis is applied to find out the relationships between two variable. Result from data analysis using a hypothesis test with products moment correlations analysis obtaineds a correlations coefficient values of 0.454 with a sig value of 0.0009. From the result concludes thats theres is a relationship betweens the two variables, this happens because the value of sig < 0.005 is strengthened by the calculated r value of 0.361 and the r table value of 0.2706 meaning Ha is accept and Ho is reject whiled the value of the magnitudde of the influences betweens the two variables is 13, 06%, which means that attitude is one of the determine factor in the student learnings outcomes in this studied. The conclusions is thats there’s a positived correlation between attitudes and learn outcome of student of class X Mechanical Engineering at SMK N 5 Padang and from the result it’s known thats one of the factor in improving learning outcomes is attitude in learning. Learning outcomes can increase with a good learning attitude and vice versa.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran teknik pemesinan bubut di SMKN 1 Padang masih menggunakan metode konvensional sehingga penggunaan media pembelajaran belum dimanfaatkan dengan sangat baik, sehingga pembelajaran tersebut menjadi membosankan bagi siswa dan motivasi belajar pada siswa menurun dan siswa cenderung bersikap pasif pada proses pembelajaran. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini yakni untuk melihat ke praktisan dan keefektifitasan media pembelajaran berbasis video tutorial yang dikembangkan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah R&D (Research and Development) model IDI dengan subjek penelitian pengembangan ini adalah siswa kelas XI di SMKN 1 Padang. Sedangkan objek dalam penelitian ini adalah produk berupa media pembelajaran berbasis video tutorial pada mata pelajaran Teknik Pemesinan Bubut. Hasil penelitian pengembangan ini adalah media pembelajaran berbasis video tutorial. Hasil uji validitas ahli materi dan media diperoleh nilai sebesar 0,92 dan 0,865 yang dapat dikatakan bahwa media pembelajaran yang dibuat valid. Dan hasil analisis angket penilaian siswa diperoleh nilai sebesar 91,7% yang dapat dinyatakan bahwa media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dalam kategori yang sangat baik. Serta hasil efektivitas pembelajaran didapat adanya kenaikan nilai siswa antara pretest dan posttest dengan perbandingan nilai 16,7% dan 83,3% yang dapat dikatakan bahwa media pembelajaran yang dibuat sudah efektif dan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis video tutorial sudah efektif dan sudah sesuai untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran disekolah pada mata pelajaran pemesinan bubut.

Abstract

Motivasi merupakan usaha atau dorongan yang dapat timbul dalam diri seseorang maupun orang lain dikerenakan adanya dorongan, keinginan atau hasrat untuk melakukan atau mencapai suatu tujuan. Motivasi dapat timbul karena bebarapa factor atau indicator maupun secara internal ataupun eksternal, motivasi sangat diperlukan karena seseorang yang mempunyai motivasi pasti akan terus berusaha untuk menegejar apa yang dia inginkan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode pendekatan deskriptif koreasional. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMK Negeri 1 Padang dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2024/2025. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan angket berupa kuesioner. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data yang dilakukan dapat disimpulakan bahwa motivasi memiliki hubungan yang signifikan terhadap keinginan melanjutkan pendidikan keperguruan tinggi pada siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 1 Padang. Besarnya hubungan motivasi terhadap keinginan melanjutkan pendidikan adalah 63%, hubungan motivasi terhdap keinginan melanjutkan pendidikan dikategorikan tinggi.

Abstract

The following study is intended to find if it exists an association among these application about K3 aspects along with student learning outcomes of the welding engineering workshop at SMK Negeri 1 Guguk. During the practice, it was found that there was a lack of understanding and implementation of K3 aspects by the Welding Technology students, as well as insufficient attention to and maintenance of K3 equipment. This research applies correlational methods with quantitative techniques. A total of 55 class XI TLAS students in the SMAW Welding Engineering subject were to be used as subjects. Sampling method adopted in this study is the purposive sampling technique. The data testing results in this study used the product-moment correlation, which showed that the calculated r score was higher than the table r value, indicating a positive relationship between the variables. The significance score was low, leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Thus, the research hypothesis is recognized at a sufficient interpretation level. The data testing results show that the implementation of K3 aspects contributes to student learning outcomes, although the contribution is not dominant. Other aspects that influence student learning outcomes were not studied in this research. Outcome of the data examination lead to theconclusion that application about K3 aspects shows a direct impact on the results of learning of class XI Welding Engineering students in the manual arc welding subject at SMK Negeri 1 Guguk.

Abstract

The engaging and personalized nature from short video makes it quickly popular, yet concerns persist about their potential to diminish critical thinking skills. This study investigates whether short videos with educational content can improve students' critical thinking skills. Using a quasi-experiment method, Thirty-three participants were divided into control and experimental groups, with critical thinking measured using the Holistic Critical Thinking Scoring Rubric (HCTSR) based on essay analysis in pretest and posttest. After administering educational short videos to the experimental group, the results showed that there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills, shown by the result of controlling the pretest variable through the ANCOVA test with a p-value of <0.001. The result highlights the potential of educational short videos as tools for fostering critical thinking by providing interventions which prioritize treatment fidelity through standardized protocols (SOPs) for content delivery, validating assessment tools, and structuring content design. Recommendations for future research include larger sample sizes, repeated data collection at strategic intervals, and rigorous validation of question complexity.

Abstract

Menjaga dan meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan merupakan tantangan penting di berbagai sistem pendidikan. Berbagai permasalahan seperti kurikulum yang tidak relevan, kurangnya tenaga pendidik yang berkualitas, serta metode pengajaran yang kurang efektif menjadi hambatan dalam pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis video tutorial terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 60 siswa SMK Negeri 5 Padang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental design, dengan instrumen penelitian berupa lembar tes serta uji validitas, reliabilitas, normalitas, homogenitas, dan independent t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai post-test pada kelas eksperimen mencapai 70, sementara kelas kontrol hanya memperoleh rata-rata 53,73. Ini membuktikan bahwa penggunaan video tutorial memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Uji normalitas menunjukkan bahwa data berdistribusi normal (nilai signifikansi > 0,05), uji homogenitas menunjukkan varians data homogen (sig > 0,05), dan hasil independent t-test sebesar 21,108 dengan nilai sig (2-tailed) = 0,00 < 0,05, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis video tutorial pada mata pelajaran Teknik Pengelasan SMAW Posisi 1F secara signifikan meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa Fase F/XI di SMK Negeri 5 Padang.

Abstract

The rapid evolution of digital technologies has opened new opportunities for transforming vocational education, particularly in CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining. Despite its vital role in preparing skilled workers, CNC instruction in Indonesian vocational schools remains constrained by teacher-cantered methods, static materials, and limited access to costly machines, resulting in low engagement and achievement. This study aimed to design, implement, and evaluate Android-based Augmented Reality (AR) learning media for CNC TU-2A machines to enhance students’ cognitive performance, psychomotor skills, and classroom participation. Using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) model across two cycles, the research involved 31 eleventh-grade Mechanical Engineering students at SMK Negeri 5 Padang. Data were collected through cognitive tests, student activity observations, and surveys. Results showed significant improvements: average cognitive scores rose from 75.91 to 82.47, classical mastery increased from 54.83% to 100%, and psychomotor scores improved by 3.24 points. Student learning activities also climbed from 72.2% to 80.4%, with discussion and collaboration showing the highest gain (17%). While barriers such as device limitations and technical issues arose, they were addressed through device sharing, offline content, and teacher mentoring. Findings confirm AR as an effective, scalable tool for modernizing CNC instruction, fostering engagement, and preparing vocational students for Industry 4.0 learning demands.
