Abstract

Fe3O4 coated with PEG has been successfully synthesized using co-precipitation method to reduce RhB. From the XRD results, it can be seen that all samples are Fe3O4 with the highest Miller index at (311). The crystallinity of Fe3O4 was maintained even though PEG was added. From the SEM-TEM analysis, it can be seen that the two samples have a uniform size distribution. Then, PEG can increase the dispersibility of the sample. From the FTIR analysis it was confirmed that there was PEG content in Fe3O4. From the results of the VSM analysis, it was confirmed that the sample has nearly superparamagnetic properties with a small  value. Then, Fe3O4 and Fe3O4/PEG were used to remove RhB in water by magnetic separation process. From the results of the study, it was obtained that the optimum absorption occurred in several parameters, namely the initial concentration of RhB at 100 mg/mL, with a pH of 6, the dose of Fe3O4/PEG at 0.8 g/L and a contact time of 40 minutes at room temperature. At this optimum condition, the absorption has a color removal of 31.1%.

Abstract

Waste printed circuit boards (PCB) have potential as a secondary source of valuable metals; however, the high content of base metals may hinder the recovery of precious metals, thereby requiring a pretreatment stage. This study aimed to conduct a preliminary evaluation of alkali–glycine pretreatment for base metal leaching from waste printed circuit boards. PCB samples were reduced to a particle size of <2 mm and separated into particle size fractions of −60 mesh and −120 mesh. The pretreatment stage was carried out under alkaline conditions, followed by glycine leaching using a glycine concentration of 30 g/L at pH 11, agitation speed of 300 rpm, and leaching time of 24 h under ambient conditions. Initial characterization was performed using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), while leaching filtrates were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). The characterization results showed that Cu was the dominant metal with a concentration of 21.775 wt.%, while Au and Ag contents reached 522 ppm and 668 ppm, respectively. Leaching results indicated that Cu and Zn were dissolved in limited amounts, whereas Au was not detected in the filtrate. Cu recovery remained relatively low and showed no significant difference between particle sizes, indicating that particle size reduction under the applied conditions had limited influence on leaching performance. The findings suggest that alkali–glycine pretreatment has potential as an initial step for reducing base metal content prior to precious metal recovery, although further optimization of operating conditions is required to improve leaching efficiency.

Abstract

Abstract: One of the factors causing low student learning outcomes is the teacher's inability to create exciting learning and appropriate teaching materials. Therefore, researchers developed teaching materials as inquiry-based learner worksheets with renewable energy materials. This research aims to determine the appropriateness of the learner worksheets being developed and their influence on improving students' critical thinking abilities. This research uses a development approach or Research and Development. The learning model is ADDIE. In the implementation stage, one group pretest-posttest experimental design was used. This research results in the learner worksheet being developed in printed form. The results of the quantitative data are the validator value for learner worksheets, with an average of 83.5%, which is a very feasible category. The results of the quantitative data analysis are average values with sig. 0.138 is normally distributed, the homogeneity value is 0.137, which is homogeneous, and the hypothesis value is 0.000, which means H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. The N-gain value is 0.42 in the medium category. The analysis of student responses showed that 33% strongly agreed, 63% agreed, 3% disagreed, and 1% disagreed. So, it can be concluded that the learner worksheets are suitable for use and have an effect on improving students' critical thinking skills. Keywords: inquiry learning; learner worksheet. Abstrak: Faktor rendahnya hasil belajar siswa salah satunya disebabkan oleh ketidakmampuan seorang guru dalam menciptakan pembelajaran yang menarik serta bahan ajar yang tepat. Abstract

Soil color is a crucial indicator in soil science and agriculture; it provides information about soil properties and conditions. Typically, surveyors determine soil color by visually comparing the soil samples to the Munsell Soil Color Chart (MSCC). However, the accuracy of this method can be influenced by lighting conditions and the observer's subjectivity, leading to potential inconsistencies. This study introduces a portable color sensor device designed to improve the accuracy and consistency in determining the soil color and its MSCC notation compared to traditional visual methods. The device integrates a TCS3200 color sensor with a microcontroller to automate the color determination process. The device was validated by operating it to determine the color of 12 test paper sheets and four test soil types. The device can determine the color of the tested paper and soil well (100% accuracy); the result is displayed on the Liquid Crystal Display. It consistently achieved 100% accuracy for all measurements with varying ambient light intensity. The device is designed to be portable and easy to use, thus supporting field use for surveyors. Therefore, this device offers significant advantages in soil classification, fertility assessment, and environmental monitoring.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the feasibility of developing a physics pocketbook mobile on Android (Phy-pockemon) to address scientific literacy skills in energy source material. The research method used is Research and Development (RD) with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The result of the developed media is the Phy-Pckemon application. Through expert validation referring to the educational information and communication technology center, subject matter expert validation carried out by three validators obtained a percentage value of 95% with a very feasible category. Media expert validation received a percentage value of 94% with a possible category, while based on trials limited to the Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) evaluation, which was conducted on 20 class XII students at one of the Islamic senior high school in Indonesia, an average response percentage of 93% was obtained with a very decent category. The results show that using Phy-Pockemon to address scientific literacy skills in energy sources is appropriate for use in learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze Biology education students’ conceptual difficulties in work and energy using the Rasch Model. A descriptive quantitative approach with a diagnostic survey design was employed. The participants were 21 Biology education students who had learned the topic of work and energy. The instrument consisted of 15 diagnostic multiple-choice items scored dichotomously, with 1 indicating a correct answer and 0 indicating an incorrect answer. The data were analyzed using the Rasch Model to examine instrument quality, item fit, item difficulty, Wright Map, score-category monotonicity, and students’ conceptual difficulty patterns. The results showed that students’ average ability was higher than the average item difficulty, with a mean person measure of 1.61 logits. However, the person reliability of 0.08 and person separation index of 0.30 indicated that the instrument had limited ability to distinguish students across different ability levels. The most difficult items were Q14, Q3, Q11, Q13, and Q15, which were related to the application of work, potential energy, and mechanical energy conservation. In contrast, Q2, Q4, Q5, and Q9 were the easiest items because they mainly assessed basic conceptual recognition. These findings indicate that students’ main difficulties were not in recognizing basic terms but in applying and integrating work and energy concepts in physics contexts.
