Abstract

Abstract

Standardizing marine tourism services is essential to ensure the quality and safety of visitors. With standardization, marine tourism service providers can ensure that all aspects of services, such as equipment, facilities, and human resources, meet the established criteria. This will increase visitor confidence and reduce the risk of accidents. In addition, standardization also helps improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services so that visitors can enjoy a better tourism experience. Standardization of marine tourism services also has a positive impact on the local economy and environment. With increasing service quality, tourists will be more likely to return and recommend the destination, thereby increasing local economic income. Therefore, we must implement and strictly monitor the standardization of marine tourism services to maintain the quality and sustainability of the marine environment. A standard operating procedure (SOP) document embodies the realization of service standardization. We prepared the SOP through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Soetan Island management. Four FGDs took place, leading to the creation of four SOP documents for Soetan Island's marine tourism services. This SOP document is a guide for Soetan Island Tourism Management in providing services to tourists, which support the realisation of decent work and service that leads to the economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the financial management strategies employed by inmates involved in drug trafficking at Padang Class IIA Correctional Facility, focusing on how these individuals manage financial operations within a controlled and restrictive environment through organized, covert practices. Using an exploratory qualitative approach, the study involved in-depth interviews with five selected inmates who were directly involved in prison-based drug networks. Participants were chosen through purposive sampling based on criteria relevant to their involvement in narcotics-related business activities. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis supported by NVivo 12 Plus software to identify emerging financial patterns and strategies. The findings reveal that inmates maintain liquidity and conceal the origins of drug-related funds through various tactics, such as supporting legal employment as a cover and placing assets under third-party names. Entry into the drug business did not require personal financial capital; instead, trust and reputation served as key currencies within the network. These financial strategies closely resemble those used in legitimate business enterprises but are adapted to the prison context. This study contributes to the academic discourse on criminal entrepreneurship and suggests practical implications for enhancing financial surveillance and security protocols within correctional institutions. Future research should include broader samples and examine the role of external actors such as family members or prison staff.

Abstract

Sustainability issues and the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure have become a major focus in the global business environment, including among Shariah-compliant firms. Although many firms have adopted sustainability initiatives, the contribution of ESG disclosure to financial performance remains debated. This study aims to examine the effect of ESG disclosure on the profitability of Shariah-compliant firms in Indonesia and Malaysia. Leverage, earnings management, and firm size are included as control variables. The sample consists of Shariah-compliant firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and Bursa Malaysia over a specified observation period. The analysis employs multiple regression using a random effect model approach. The findings reveal that, overall, ESG disclosure negatively affects profitability in both the combined sample of Indonesia and Malaysia and the Indonesian sample individually. In contrast, among Shariah-compliant firms in Malaysia, ESG disclosure does not have a significant impact on profitability, whereas earnings management shows a positive effect. These results highlight the need to enhance the substance of sustainability disclosures to better support financial value creation. This study contributes to the extension of agency theory and signaling theory within the context of Shariah-compliant businesses and opens avenues for future research on strengthening governance practices based on Islamic ethical values.

Abstract

Abstract

High unemployment among Indonesian Vocational High School (VHS) graduates highlights a persistent gap between school-acquired competencies and labour market demands. To address this, fostering entrepreneurial intention during early education is essential. This study research expands the entrepreneurial intention framework to the vocational education context in Indonesia, where empirical evidence on the psychological and contextual factors influencing entrepreneurial intention among VHS students remains limited. Specifically, the study examines how internship experience and social valuation influence entrepreneurial intention, with self-efficacy as a mediating variable and entrepreneur education support as a moderating variable. Employing a quantitative design, data were obtained from 160 VHS students in DKI Jakarta who had completed internship programs. The analysis usedPartial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. The results show that internship experience and social valuation both increase self-efficacy, which has a strong effect on entrepreneurial intention. While internship experience does not directly lead to entrepreneurial intention, it influences it indirectly through selfefficacy. Social valuation affects entrepreneurial intention both directly and indirectly. The study also finds that entrepreneurial education support strengthens the effect of social valuation on entrepreneurial intention, but not the effect of internship experience or self-efficacy. The findings underscore the significance of social support and practical experience as essential components of entrepreneurial learning in vocational education to strengthen entrepreneurial intention among students.

Abstract

The West Sumatra - Riau toll road is expected to generate a favourable influence on the local economy, thereby enhancing the overall wellbeing of society. However, this progress does not eliminate some of the potential negative impacts, because the construction of toll roads will divert some of the public's transportation movements, thereby posing a threat to business activities along the diverted transportation routes. To anticipate these potential impacts, it is important to conduct a study that focuses on anticipating the potential socio-economic impacts of the construction of the West Sumatra – Riau toll road. A Focus Group Discussion was conducted with delegates from several Payakumbuh Municipal Government. A total of nineteen participants, comprising ten males and nine females, participated in the focus group discussion. The discussion remarks were methodically categorised and analysed. The study findings elucidate many potential ramifications of the construction of the West Sumatra - Riau toll road on Payakumbuh City, as well as proposed measures that might be implemented to mitigate these ramifications. The research findings can serve as a foundation for developing a regional development strategy for Payakumbuh City. The objective is to optimise the effects of toll road construction on the social and economic well-being of the community, ensuring equitable and balanced outcomes.

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of investor behavior in Indonesia’s cryptocurrency market, focusing on trust, regulation, digital access, and risk perception, with psychological empowerment as a mediating variable. Motivated by the rapid growth of crypto adoption in Indonesia alongside issues of volatility, regulatory uncertainty, and varying levels of digital literacy, the research aims to identify how these factors influence investment decisions. A quantitative explanatory design was applied, using a structured online questionnaire distributed to 150 active Indonesian cryptocurrency investors selected through stratified random and snowball sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess measurement validity, structural relationships, and mediation effects. The results show that trust, regulation, and digital access positively and significantly influence investor behavior, while risk perception has a positive but significant impact. Psychological empowerment was found to partially mediate the relationship between all independent variables and investor behavior, indicating that confidence, autonomy, and self-efficacy enhance the translation of external conditions into active investment. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening regulatory clarity, enhancing platform security, expanding digital access, and fostering investor empowerment to promote responsible and sustainable cryptocurrency participation in Indonesia.
