Abstract

Microbiological contamination is one of the factors that affect food safety, especially in wet noodles which have a high moisture content so they are easily damaged. This study aims to determine the number of Total Plate Numbers (ALT) and identify the presence of Escherichia coli in wet noodles sold at Segiri Market, Samarinda City. The research was carried out using a descriptive analytical method through laboratory testing of five wet noodle samples taken by purposive sampling. ALT testing uses the pour plate method on Plate Count Agar (PCA) media, while Escherichia coli testing is carried out by the Most Probable Number (MPN) method followed by confirmation on Eosin Methylene Blue Agar (EMBA) media. The results of the ALT test showed that two samples met the maximum limit of ALT according to SNI 2987:2015 (≤1.0 × 106 colonies/g), while three samples exceeded the threshold. The MPN test showed that four samples were below the maximum limit according to SNI 2987:2015 (≤10 APM/g) and one sample exceeded the threshold. The EMBA confirmation showed two positive samples of Escherichia coli. These results confirm the importance of applying hygienic practices in the processing, storage, and packaging to reduce the risk of microbiological contamination.

Abstract

The effect of light on stomata has been extensively studied, but studies that specifically observed the effect of light intensity on the size and number of stomata in monocot plants at the Sempaja Arboretum, Samarinda, are still very limited, including monocot plants, and have the potential to be a contextual learning resource for biology education in schools. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of light intensity on the number and size of stomata in monocot plants in the Sempaja Arboretum. This research was carried out from February to May. This study used a Non-Factorial Group Random Design, with 3 different light intensities (morning, noon, and evening). Based on the results of statistical tests (ANOVA and Duncan's follow-up tests), not all species show statistically significant differences in size and number between times (morning, noon, evening). Some species such as Sri Rejeki (Aglonema sp) and Turmeric (Curcuma longa) show statistically insignificant changes. In other species such as Virginia Flower (Commelina virginica), Palm (Arenga pinnata), and Golden Ivory Betel (Epipremnum aureum), the difference in stomata size between times is more pronounced and significant.

Abstract

The background of this research is learning models that are limited in variation, which makes the students less active, especially in questioning skills. Because of that, this research has a purpose to find out the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) on students questioning skills. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi experimental method and a non- equivalent control group design. The subjects of this research are 70 grade XI students in MAN 2 Samarinda, including class XI-B as the experimental class and class XI-A as the control class. The instruments used in this research are interviewing the teacher, observing the learning activities, and an assessment rubric of students questioning skills. The results of this research showed that students questioning skills in the experimental class increased significantly compared to the control class, as shown by the Mann-Whitney U test with a significance value of 0.015 < 0.05. The number of questions from students in the experimental class was more varied (20 questions) compared to the control class, which had fewer questions (5 questions). The conclusion is that the implementation of the TPACK based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model has a positive effect on students questioning skills in the cell material of Grade XI.

Abstract

Pencemaran mikroplastik telah menjadi isu global yang serius karena dampaknya terhadap ekosistem perairan dan kesehatan manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis dan kandungan mikroplastik pada ikan Trakulu (Lepidothyris fernandi) dan ikan Kerapu (Epinephelus sp) yang ditangkap di perairan Muara Ilu, Kecamatan Anggana, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara, Kalimantan Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analitis. Sampel diperoleh melalui pemancingan, lalu bagian saluran pencernaan ikan dianalisis menggunakan larutan KOH 10% dan diamati melalui mikroskop cahaya yang terhubung dengan Optilab dan aplikasi Image Raster. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikan Trakulu mengandung tiga jenis mikroplastik yaitu fiber, film, dan fragmen, dengan dominasi fiber sebesar 76,92%. Sementara itu, ikan Kerapu mengandung dua jenis mikroplastik, yaitu fiber dan film, dengan dominasi fiber mencapai 95,08%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa perairan Muara Ilu telah tercemar mikroplastik dan ikan konsumsi lokal berpotensi menjadi vektor masuknya partikel tersebut ke dalam rantai makanan manusia. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi dasar dalam pengelolaan lingkungan dan peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap bahaya pencemaran plastik.

Abstract

Kajian akademik ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara komprehensif pelaksanaan Dana Bantuan Operasional Sekolah Daerah (BOSDA) di Kabupaten Mahakam Ulu sebagai landasan yuridis dan empiris dalam penyusunan Peraturan Kepala Daerah (Perkada). Meskipun BOSDA bertujuan untuk meningkatkan mutu pelayanan pendidikan dengan memberikan dukungan biaya operasional non-personalia, implementasinya sering menghadapi tantangan terkait landasan hukum, mekanisme penetapan alokasi, dan akuntabilitas penggunaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah hukum normatif-empiris, menggabungkan analisis terhadap peraturan perundang-undangan terkait (APBD, Permendikbud, dan peraturan daerah yang relevan) dengan data empiris di lapangan yang dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Belum terdapat regulasi setingkat Perkara yang secara spesifik dan terperinci mengatur tata kelola BOSDA, yang menyebabkan keragaman interpretasi dan pelaksanaan di tingkat sekolah

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are a key component required in completing independent tasks (Sukenda, 2016). This study aims to analyze correlation between students' critical thinking skills and the quality of independent assignments in Histology courses. The research method used was a correlational quantitative approach involving 35 Biology Education study program students who were taking Histology courses. Data were collected through a histology context-based critical thinking test and independent assignment assessment using an analysis rubric. The correlation test results showed a positive correlation between critical thinking skills and the quality of students' independent assignments (r = 0.244, p < 0.05). This finding indicates that although there is a positive correlation coefficient between critical thinking ability and independent assignment quality, the significance value (Sig.) of 0.157 indicates that the correlation is not statistically significant. Based on this data, it can be concluded that there is no significant correlation between students' critical thinking skills and the quality of their independent assignments in the Histology course.

Abstract

The inefficient implementation of learning approach and method can make student participant less active and leads to lack of critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the effect of the deep learning approach using mnemonics on the critical thinking skills of seventh-grade students regarding the classification of living organisms at SMP Negeri 46 Samarinda. This study employed a quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group design. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, with a sample size of 25 students each for the experimental and control classes. The data analysis techniques used are N-Gain test and the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the data analysis showed that the N-Gain score for critical thinking skills in the experimental class, with an average of 0.74, fell into the high category, while that of the control class, at 0.60, fell into the moderate category. The hypothesis results showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 for critical thinking skills, where this significance value (2-tailed) was < 0.05 so it can be concluded that there is an effect of the deep learning approach using mnemonics on the critical thinking skills of seventh-grade students regarding the classification of living organisms at SMP Negeri 46 Samarinda.

Abstract

The armyworm is a major pest that can reduce crop yields. Control using chemical pesticides carries the risk of causing health problems, environmental pollution, and pest resistance. Therefore, safer and more environmentally friendly alternatives in the form of botanical pesticides are needed. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.) and PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) from bamboo roots (Gigantochloa apus) on the mortality of armyworms (Spodoptera litura) on green mustard plants (Brassica juncea L). The experimental design used was a randomized block design (RBD), consisting of 8 treatments and 4 replicates, resulting in 32 experimental units. The results showed that soursop leaf extract and PGPR from bamboo apus roots, at an optimal concentration of 70%, significantly increased armyworm mortality to 85%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based STEM approach using Assemblr Edu media on students’ creative thinking skills and learning outcomes in the respiratory system curriculum. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The study sample consisted of class XI-3 as the experimental group and class XI-4 as the control group at State Senior High School 5 Samarinda. Data collection techniques included achievement tests, observations of creative thinking skills, interviews, and documentation. The research instruments comprised pretest and posttest items, as well as an observation sheet for creative thinking skills covering the indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain tests, and hypothesis testing. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of a PBL-based STEM approach supported by Assemblr Edu is effective in improving students’ creative thinking skills and learning outcomes. The improvement in creative thinking skills is evident from the increase in scores on each indicator of student creativity throughout the learning process. Additionally, the learning outcomes of students in the experimental class were higher than those in the control class after the intervention was administered. The use of the Augmented Reality-based Assemblr Edu platform helps students visualize abstract concepts of the respiratory system, making learning more interactive, contextual and meaningful. Thus, a Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based STEM approach supported by Assemblr Edu can serve as an innovative alternative in biology education to enhance students’ creative thinking skills and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Penggunaan pupuk kimia secara berlebihan dalam budidaya pertanian telah menyebabkan penurunan kesuburan alami tanah dan pencemaran lingkungan. Di sisi lain, limbah cair kelapa sawit atau Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) tersedia melimpah di wilayah Marangkayu namun berpotensi mencemari ekosistem jika tidak dikelola dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberia Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) berbahan dasar POME terhadap total berat buah tomat mawar serta menentukan kadar optimal untuk hasil produksi yang terbaik. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen murni (true experimental) dengan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK). Sampel penelitian berjumlah 72 tanaman tomat mawar yang terbagi ke dalam empat perlakuan dosis POC POME, yaitu P0 (kontrol), P1 (30%), P2 (50%), dan P3 (70%), dengan enam kali pengulangan. Data hasil panen pada usia 75-80 hari ditotal lalu dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA Satu Arah dan uji lanjut Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian POC POME berpengaruh nyata terhadap total berat buah tomat mawar dengan nilai Fhitung (47,682) > Ftabel (3,287). Rata-rata berat buah tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan P2 (50%) sebesar 486,833 gram, disusul P3 (395,5 gram), P1 (330,667), dan P0 (233,5 gram). Berdasarkan uji BNT, setiap peningkatan dosis hingga kadar tertentu menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan dibandingkan kontrol. Dapat disimpulkan pemberian POC POME efektif dalam meningkatkan berat buah tomat mawar dengan kadar optimal 50%.
