Abstract

The tourism industries on small islands frequently prioritize economic gains, while the environmental consequences of these activities, which include the impact on the ecosystem, are typically overlooked due to insufficient consideration of conservation costs. If this pattern persists, the marine parks in the region may eventually lose their appeal and adversely affect the tourism industry. The Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) program offers a potential avenue for executing conservation fundraising initiatives by leveraging contributions from travelers and tourism enterprises. This study employs a qualitative methodology to analyze public policies pertaining to the implementation of the PES program in Gili Matra. The study concluded that it is feasible to establish PES (Payment for Ecosystem Services) programs on Gili Matra through mandatory initiatives, with the aim of fostering a sustainable tourism sector.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that influence women's interest in working in the formal-non-formal sector in the city of Mataram. This study examines the influence of education, working hours, age, marital status, family status, and health insurance on women's choice of work sector. The formal sector is characterized by legal employment relationships, legal protection, and social security, while the non-formal sector is more flexible but has minimal protection. This study uses an associative quantitative approach. Funds were obtained from the 2023 National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) with 740 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using logistic regression. The results of the study show that the variables of age, marital status, working hours, education, family status, and health insurance have a significant influence on women's decisions to work, with health insurance being the most dominant factor. These findings emphasize the need for policies that support access to education, social protection, and strengthening the formal sector to increase women's participation and welfare in the world of work.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the work time allocation of traditional weavers in Pringgasela Selatan Village, East Lombok Regency, as well as the factors that influence it, namely age, education, work experience, and number of family dependents. The village is known as a center of traditional Sasak weaving, passed down through generations and serving as a key source of income, particularly for women. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach using survey questionnaires. A total of 77 respondents were selected purposively, specifically those with at least five years of weaving experience. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that the average weaving time allocation was 7.8 hours per day. Simultaneously, the variables of age, education, experience, and family dependents significantly influenced work time allocation (F significance value < 0.05). Partially, age and experience had significant negative effects, indicating that older and more experienced weavers tend to spend less time working due to efficiency or physical limitations. In contrast, the number of family dependents had a significant positive effect, indicating greater economic pressure to work. Education was found to have no significant effect. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 64.27%, indicating a good model fit. This study contributes theoretically to the literature on labor time allocation and practically provides insights for developing policies on women's empowerment and the preservation of traditional weaving crafts in local communities.
