Abstract

This paper explores the stages of speaking skill's online lectures using the Zoom Cloud Meeting media as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the Zoom Cloud Meeting media. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with three data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that there were several stages used by lecturers in the implementation of speaking skill lectures using Zoom Cloud Meeting media, namely: (1) Pre-Lecture, (2), Lecture Implementation, (3) and Class Evaluation. There are several features of the Zoom Cloud Meeting media used by lecturers in the implementation of speaking skill lectures such as Schedule, mute & unmute, record, chat, and whiteboards. Researchers also found several advantages regarding the implementation of speaking skill lectures using Zoom Cloud Meeting media such as flexibility in the lecture process, increasing discipline for lecturers and students, and several additional features that can support the smooth implementation of lectures. However, the implementation of lectures using this media is also inseparable from shortcomings such as a poor internet network and limited duration of the free Zoom Cloud Meeting media which can only be used for 40 minutes. From the results of this study, it is hoped that it can provide alternative solutions for lecturers in dealing with online lectures in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine students' perceptions of an ideal Arabic lecturer’s personality competence. This study used an exploratory approach with the data collection technique deploying an online questionnaire distributed via a Google Form. After completing the online questionnaire, the researchers also selected three students for individual interviews based on their availability and willingness to participate. This study revealed several important findings: First, Arabic language lecturers must act according to the prevailing norms and feel proud of their profession. Second, an Arabic lecturer must be independent in acting without being influenced by interventions from anyone and have a high work ethic. Third, an Arabic lecturer must be neutral in treating students in the classroom. Fourth, an Arabic lecturer must use polite language when delivering materials and not be arrogant, which could create a tense/scary atmosphere during the learning process. Fifth, an Arabic language lecturer must set an example for students, such as getting used to speaking Arabic in everyday life so that students could imprint the lecturer.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the preparation of an outdoor study, the experiences of students and the results of their essays after doing an outdoor study using the exploration method of 14 students. The techniques used were interviews and analysis of their written documents. The findings of this study indicated that outdoor study activities began with preparation to achieve learning objectives by setting a schedule of activities. Students felt that outdoor study activities in learning to write made it easier for them to write based on the realities of people's lives without having to imagine as well as being able to socialize with the community. Students' essays were generally seen from the aspects of content, content organization, vocabulary and grammar in general according to facts, good and precise. There were three topics written about the function of the Kereng Bangkirai Pier and the title of the essay and the flow of the different descriptions. The implication of this research is that learning in an environment that matches the theme of the material helps students in developing their competences from cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects.

Abstract

This study presents the results of an investigation of Arabic teachers' actions at the primary school level in achieving the objectives of teaching and learning Arabic. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with two data collection techniques: observations and interviews. The collected data then were analyzed using a didactic anthropological theory based on three main components: the teachers' desire (want) to act, the means or methods used by the teachers, and the results or objectives (end) achieved by the teacher's actions. The results of this study showed that first, Arabic teachers had a strong desire to overcome the problems faced by the students, especially in the demotivating aspect of studying Arabic. Second, from the results of those desires, the Arabic teachers determined and used several methods such as presenting the materials using songs, cartoon videos and integrating Islamic religious knowledge. Third, the actions or methods used by the Arabic teachers resulted in positive outcomes in teaching and learning Arabic for students at the primary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the efficacy aspects of Central Kalimantan Arabic teachers, such as level, strength, and generality to become a driving teacher. This study used a mixed method by combining qualitative and quantitative designs (concurrent triangulation) by recruiting 19 (nineteen) Arabic teachers at Madrasah Aliyah level from several districts/cities in Central Kalimantan province, Indonesia. The results of this study indicated that the three aspects of the Arabic teachers already have high self-efficacy to become a driving teacher with an average score of 3.79. This is based on their enthusiasm to learn how to use IT in the teaching process and their ability to instill character education and be able to be flexible in dealing with diverse student behavior. However, some difficulties arise from aspects of strength such as difficulties in reflecting and evaluating student-centered learning outcomes and involving the students’ parents.

Abstract

This study explores the students' perceptions of the results of Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) implementation in the Arabic speaking skill lectures based on the typical characteristics of the Student-Centered Learning approach in their class. The researchers need information on whether implementing a method in the context of the Arabic language skills in tertiary institutions meets the Student-Centered Learning approach criteria. In addition, most of the research still focuses on describing the method's implementation. It ignores the achievement of the method on the criteria for the Student-Centered Learning approach. This study uses an exploratory investigation to understand implementation results in-deeply. Thirty AFL students with different cultural backgrounds completed a questionnaire about their perceptions of successful implementation. The findings reveal that implementing CTL in teaching the Arabic speaking skills meets the typical characteristics of the Student-Centered Learning approach. Moreover, some students also give positive suggestions to achieve a more optimal standard. Therefore, this study provides some recommendations and directions for further studies.

Abstract

The research explores the implementation of teaching speaking skills to first-semester Arabic language students at the University of Islamic Boarding School in Indonesia, using a social approach. It aims to comprehensively describe the process, covering objectives, the roles of lecturers and students, discussion themes, teaching methods, media, and evaluation. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Insights from the findings highlight the sociological perspective of learning objectives, emphasizing the lecturer's role in fostering social interactions through discussions. Both the lecturer and students' roles are examined in a societal context, underlining the lecturer's societal responsibilities and students' readiness for societal engagement. Discussion themes include social elements such as good behavior, Islamic education, and youth. The teaching method involves a conversational approach with cooperative learning strategies. Classroom media is limited to books and boards, while dormitories are equipped with LED TVs broadcasting Arabic-language religious speeches. Challenges faced by students are categorized into internal (lack of personal motivation) and external problems (shortage of classrooms and inadequate bathroom facilities). The study provides insights into the practical and sociological aspects of teaching speaking skills in an Islamic educational environment.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic to date has caused learning to be carried out remotely to prevent further transmission of the virus. The use of Google Classroom is a solution for learning fiqh lughah online at this critical time. So far, there are still few studies that examine student perceptions of online learning of fiqh lughah. Therefore, this study aims to investigate student perceptions of online learning of fiqh lughah using Google Classroom. This research is exploratory, investigative research with 33 students as the subject. All exploratory data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques by adopting several steps: tabulating the Microsoft Excel application data, adding a percentage score to the data, and presenting the analyzed data in a summary table. These findings reveal that distance learning using Google Classroom gets a positive response from students even though they have to adapt more intensely to be comfortable with the learning process. Therefore, learning fiqh lughah through Google Classroom should be considered as an alternative media for online learning.
