Abstract

When it comes to teaching and learning English, teachers and students face several challenges, particularly in terms of fatigue and uncertainty. As a result of this situation, English teachers must emphasize their concerns about using appropriate resources in English subjects in schools and colleges, such as using online learning resources to increase students' motivation to learn EFL. This present study is aimed at: (1) exploring the teaching materials, media, methods, strategies, teaching procedures/learning activities, and the assessments used in online learning resources to increase students’ motivation in EFL learning, and (2) investigating information in terms of students’ motivation documented with literature data serving as the primary source of information. While, the type of research was content analysis. The results show that through the use of relevant and engaging content, combined with technology-based tools and a student-centered approach, a dynamic learning environment is created. Therefore, the adaptability of assessments and learning activities to students' needs further supports their language development, fostering motivation and achievement in English language learning. Overall, a holistic approach that integrates these elements proves to be highly effective in promoting English proficiency through online resources.

Abstract

Dongeng memiliki peran besar dalam pengembangan literasi anak dan karakter anak, khususnya pada usia dini. Namun, di era gawai saat ini, eksistensi dongeng sebagai pendidikan pada anak usia dini perlu dipertanyakan. Metode dalam penelitian adalah Kuantitatif dengan metode surve melalui kuesioner. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 37 orangtua (ibu) yang memiliki anak berusia 4-6 tahun dan sudah masuk dalam Taman Kanak-kanak di Kecamatan Tambang, Kabupaten Kampar, Provinsi Riau. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 78% para orangtua jarang melakukan aktivitas mendongeng untuk anaknya, 65% memiliki sasaran dan tujuan utama dalam aktivitas mendongeng, 73% memberikan gawai sebagai pengganti aktivitas mendongeng sebelum tidur anaknya, dan anak-anak mereka responsive dan kritis ketika orangtuanya mendongeng pada kategori sering hanya berjumlah 8%. Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa orangtua sudah jarang melakukan aktivitas mendongeng untuk anaknya karena kesibukan dan minimnya pengetahuan dan literature mereka pada dongeng.

Abstract

Reading is a critical skill that contributes significantly to academic success and personal growth, especially at the High School level. Therefore, this study explores the relationship between Reading Motivation, Reading Comprehension, and Online Humorous Reading Content among high school pupils. Leveraging a correlational design and quantitative research methods, data was collected from 186 eleventh grade pupils through questionnaires and tests. Statistical analysis, including Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA), was used to test the relationship between variables. Findings showed a significant effect of Reading Motivation on Reading Comprehension, with Online Humorous Reading Content as a moderating variable since the acceptance of alternate hypotheses (Ha) had been obtained. Specifically, Online Humorous Reading Content was found to increase pupils’ interest in reading and reduce barriers to reading comprehension, thus improving overall reading performance. This study underscores the importance of incorporating entertaining reading materials into the curriculum to foster engagement and improve learning outcomes. Undeniably, these findings contribute valuable insights for educators aiming to improve reading skills and create a stimulating learning environment in high school settings.

Abstract

As technology becomes an integral part of education, the use of mobile apps offers interactive learning opportunities that go beyond traditional classroom methods. Therefore, this study explores the impact of the U-Dictionary app in improving English Reading Skills among senior high school students at SMAN 1 Rambah. A quasi-experimental design was used, involving an experimental group that used the U-Dictionary app and a control group that followed conventional reading practices. Pretest and posttest assessments were conducted to measure the improvement in reading Skills. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent sample t-test via SPSS 25. The findings show a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group (p < 0.05), with a moderate effect size, indicating that the U-Dictionary application has a positive impact on students’ Reading Skills and it enhance motivation and academic achievement. The findings highlight U-Dictionary's interactive features, which offer immediate feedback and facilitate vocabulary acquisition, making the learning process engaging. The study concludes by recommending the incorporation of such technologies in language curricula to create dynamic learning environments that prepare students for future academic and professional challenges. The results of this study advocate the adoption of technology-enhanced strategies in educational settings to foster better learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to highlight and evaluate the issues at an in-depth level to provide different solutions that are expected to be a reflection for the government, especially the Ministry of Education and Culture, to be able to improve the implementation and monitoring of the Kampus Mengajar Program. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, and the data were collected from a focus group discussion with students of the English Education Study Program at Universitas Lancang Kuning, then the data was analyzed descriptively. The results highlight some problems in the implementation of the Kampus Merdeka Program. These included a lack of coordination and clear communication between stakeholders, which led to confusion among students and schools, uneven targeting of schools, inadequate support for the program, and credit conversion, resulting in frustration and challenges. Addressing these issues, the study recommended increased socialization of the program, transparency in credit equivalency, and more accurate school data collection. In conclusion, this research offers several solutions that are expected to reflect the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) that the Kampus Mengajar Program faces various challenges in its implementation, which need to be addressed for the program to effectively meet its goal of improving education in the 3T areas.

Abstract

Abstract: The pressing need for innovative methods in English language learning for deaf students has so far faced serious obstacles due to the limited number of educators with English language degrees. This condition causes the learning methods and media used tend to be less varied and not in accordance with the special needs of students, resulting in low vocabulary mastery and weak text comprehension skills. To answer this challenge, the PkM team from Lancang Kuning University designed a sign language-assisted reading strategy training. The approach is visual and interactive, integrating skimming, scanning and predicting techniques with sign language to help students visualize the meaning of words while understanding the context of the text. The program evaluation proved the effectiveness of this approach. The average reading comprehension score increased significantly from 45.6 (pre-test) to 82.3 (post-test). In addition, field observations showed an increase in students' motivation, enthusiasm and active participation. The highest indicators were on understanding the main idea (96.25%) and cause-and-effect relationship (94.05%), indicating that this strategy not only strengthens vocabulary acquisition, but also logical and analytical thinking skills. These results confirm that a multisensory approach that combines conventional reading strategies with sign language is an effective solution to improve deaf students' English literacy. Furthermore, this success emphasizes the importance of professional training for teachers so that similar practices can be widely and sustainably implemented in inclusive and special schools. Keyword: Sign Language; Reading Strategy; Disability Students.. Abstrak: Kebutuhan mendesak akan metode inovatif dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris bagi siswa tunarungu selama ini masih menghadapi hambatan serius akibat keterbatasan tenaga pendidik lulusan bahasa Inggris. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan metode dan media pembelajaran yang digunakan cenderung kurang variatif dan tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan khusus siswa, sehingga berdampak pada rendahnya penguasaan kosakata serta lemahnya kemampuan memahami teks. Untuk menjawab tantangan ini, tim PkM dari Universitas Lancang Kuning merancang pelatihan strategi membaca berbantuan bahasa isyarat. Pendekatan ini bersifat visual dan interaktif, mengintegrasikan teknik skimming, scanning, dan predicting dengan bahasa isyarat untuk membantu siswa memvisualisasikan makna kata sekaligus memahami konteks teks. Evaluasi program membuktikan efektivitas pendekatan ini. Rata-rata skor pemahaman bacaan meningkat signifikan dari 45,6 (pre-test) menjadi 82,3 (post-test). Selain itu, observasi lapangan menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi, antusiasme, dan partisipasi aktif siswa. Indikator tertinggi terdapat pada pemahaman gagasan utama (96,25%) dan hubungan sebab-akibat (94,05%), yang menandakan bahwa strategi ini tidak hanya memperkuat penguasaan kosakata, tetapi juga keterampilan berpikir logis dan analitis. Hasil tersebut menegaskan bahwa pendekatan multisensori yang memadukan strategi membaca konvensional dengan bahasa isyarat merupakan solusi efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi bahasa Inggris siswa tunarungu. Lebih jauh, keberhasilan ini menekankan pentingnya pelatihan profesional bagi guru agar praktik serupa dapat diimplementasikan secara luas dan berkelanjutan di sekolah inklusi maupun sekolah luar biasa. Kata kunci: Bahasa Isyarat; Reading Strategy; Siswa Berkebutuhan Khusus.

Abstract

Abstract: The initial step to develop renewable energy conversion technology education is to educate teachers, technicians and students of the Automotive Engineering Department, Motorcycle Engineering and Business Expertise Program about electrical energy conversion in the automotive world. With the discourse of community service carried out by the proposing team, a collaboration will be created between the Automotive Technology Vocational Education Study Program and the TBSM Expertise Program of the Automotive Engineering Department of SMK Negeri 1 Tambusai. This collaboration continues from what the proposing team did during the previous year's research, namely designing a BLDC dynamo design as an alternative component for converting fuel-powered motors to electric motors. Keyword: The Socialization of the BLDC Dynamo Industrial Product Design Plan Abstrak: Langkah awal untuk mengambangkan edukasi teknologi konversi energi terbarukan adalah dengan mengedukasi guru, teknisi dan siswa Jurusan Teknik Otomotif, Program Keahnian Teknik dan Bisnis Sepeda Motor tentang konversi energi listrik di dunia otomotif. Dengan adanya wacana dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh tim pengusul maka nantinya akan tercipta kolaborasi antara Program Studi Pendidikan Vokasional Teknologi Otomotif dengan Program Keahlian TBSM Jurusan Teknik Otomotif SMK Negeri 1 Tambusai. Kolaborasi tersebut meneruskan dari apa yang tim pengusul lakukan pada saat penelitian tahun sebelumnya yaitu tentang perancangan desain dinamo BLDC sebagai komponen alternatif untuk konversi motor bbm ke motor listrik. Kata kunci: Sosialasi Rancangan Desain Produk Industri Dinamo BLDC
