Abstract

Body composition, which consists of the proportion of fat, bone, water and muscle, is very important for adolescent health. Adolescence is characterized by significant changes in body composition that are influenced by genetics, hormones, physical activity, and nutrition. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), a non-invasive and cost-effective method, is widely used to assess body composition, including fat mass and fat-free mass. Excess body fat in adolescence is associated with cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) methodology, which involves the facial skin analysis of 163 participants. According to the examination results, the average total body fat, total subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, and total muscle mass were 24.9%, 21%, 2.5%, and 27.5%, respectively. Early assessment and intervention are essential to prevent health complications. Promoting healthy lifestyles and regularly monitoring body composition can improve adolescent health and prevent future obesity-related morbidity and mortality.

Abstract

Body composition refers to the distribution of fat, muscle, bone, and other tissues in the human body, which is often expressed as a percentage of total body weight consisting of fat mass and lean body mass. Obesity, characterized by excess fat in adipose tissue, poses a significant health risk and is increasing in countries with low and medium mortality rates, especially in metropolitan areas. Factors contributing to this include genetics, a lack of physical activity, socioeconomic status, unhealthy eating patterns, psychosocial factors, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Excess body fat significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality. Although optimal body fat levels vary, excess fat increases the risk of health issues such as joint problems and cardiovascular disease. People widely use bioimpedance analysis (BIA), an efficient, non-invasive method, to assess nutritional status and body composition. This activity uses the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) method, which is carried out at PT. Narindo, North Jakarta, in the productive age population. The examination results showed that the average levels of total body fat, visceral fat, total subcutaneous fat, total muscle mass were 28.6%; 11%; 22.2%; 28.3%. Early detection of body composition is critical for assessing nutritional and health status as well as diagnosing disease, potentially reducing obesity-related morbidity and mortality.

Abstract

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is a cardiovascular disease that impairs perfusion to the myocardium. Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CCTA) and Invasive Coronary Angiography (ICA) or commonly known as coronary catheterization are two possible modalities to visualize the coronary vessels in CHD patients. However, both of the modalities have their own advantages and disadvantages. This study aims to describe details of the stenosis severity frequencies in both modalities with the characteristics of these CHD patients at RS Jantung Jakarta. This study uses an observational descriptive method to assess the frequency distribution of stenosis severity in CHD patients that have completed CCTA and ICA examination at RS Jantung Jakarta with 369 patients, 1.476 coronary vessels, and 807 stenotic lesions in total. Sampling method of this study is consecutive sampling. Majority of CHD patients in this study were ≥60 years old and have obesity. Majority of the patients on this study reach the blood pressure target. Most of the patients have only one vessel with significant stenosis. Most vessel affected was LAD (Left Anterior Descending Artery). There’s 71.4% of the coronary vessels detected as severe stenosis on CCTA examination but only 50.4% of the coronary vessels detected as severe stenosis on ICA examination. It can’t be denied that although CT coronary angiography has high potential, it still can’t replace coronary catheterization (invasive coronary angiography) as the gold standard in determining the degree of coronary artery stenosis in CHD patients due to its limitation.

Abstract

Body composition is the ratio of fat mass to fat-free mass in the body, which is an important factor in maintaining health, especially in adolescents who are experiencing rapid growth and development. Balanced body composition in adolescence can support physical health and prevent various diseases. Imbalanced body composition has the potential to cause obesity, metabolic disorders, heart disease, and musculoskeletal problems. Educational activities and body composition examinations are carried out using the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) approach, involving counseling on healthy lifestyles and body composition examinations. This program has succeeded in increasing adolescents' understanding of the importance of maintaining body composition balance and adopting healthy habits. Health education and routine body composition monitoring provide benefits in preventive efforts to prevent future health risks. Continuous body composition examinations and education are important steps in efforts to control health among adolescents.

Abstract

Pulmonary function disorders are commonly underdiagnosed health issues, especially in urban areas with high air pollution and prevalent smoking habits. Early detection through spirometry plays a crucial role in the promotion and prevention of respiratory diseases such as asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). However, public awareness and access to spirometry remain limited, including in the Tanjung Duren Selatan subdistrict of West Jakarta. This community service program was conducted using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle management approach. The target population consisted of productive-age residents willing to participate in health education and lung function screening. Spirometry examinations were conducted alongside interactive counseling about respiratory health and risk factors. Evaluation was carried out through spirometry results and participant satisfaction surveys. A total of 92 participants took part in the activity, consisting of 70 females (76.1%) and 22 males (23.9%), with a mean age of 43.78 years (SD ±12.93). The average Vital Capacity (VC) was 2.26 L, Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) was 2.13 L, and Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 Second (FEV1) was 1.95 L. The mean FEV1/FVC ratio was 107.12%, with 100% of participants showing normal lung function. This activity demonstrates that spirometry is an effective tool for monitoring lung function and increasing community awareness. Similar screening initiatives should be expanded to support early detection of respiratory disorders at the community level.

Abstract

Abstract

Kekuatan genggaman rata-rata 16,31 kg.

Abstract

Abstract

Metabolic diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and obesity, are becoming increasingly prevalent global health problems. These conditions are commonly associated with central adiposity and low muscle mass, both of which play significant roles in the development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Body composition measurement is an important method for early screening to detect the risk of metabolic diseases in the adult population. This activity was conducted in Grogol Village, West Jakarta, involving 67 participants. The results showed that most participants had very high total body fat (47 people, 70.15%), with visceral fat levels ranging from normal to high in 46 people (68.19%). Additionally, most participants had low skeletal muscle mass (57 people, 85.07%). Body composition screening proves effective in the early detection of metabolic disease risk, enabling timely lifestyle modifications that can improve quality of life and reduce morbidity and mortality rates. Routine assessments and continuous education are essential to controlling risk factors for metabolic diseases, raising public awareness, and preventing more severe complications.
