Abstract

In the last decade, many studies of physics learning at the junior high school level seem to show that student-centered interactions have a greater effect than teacher-centered interactions in improving physics learning outcomes. Based on this premise,Think-pair-share (TPS) which is one type of cooperative learning model developed by Frank Lyman and his colleagues from the University of Maryland (1981) is a teaching strategy that promotes active and collaborative learning; however, its effectiveness and application are very good in physics learning. The purpose of this study is to analyze student learning outcomes using the TPS type cooperative model on the material of substances and their forms. This study uses a descriptive model with 24 students as subjects divided into four groups. The implementation of the study on SMP Xaverius Passo. Data were collected through tests, namely pretest and posttest and observations using student worksheets and affective and psychomotor assessments of students. The results showed that there was a significant increase in student learning outcomes after the implementation of the TPS model, both from cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This study recommends the use of the TPS cooperative learning model as a solution to improve the quality of physics learning in schools

Abstract

Minimnya kegiatan sosialisasi mengenai konsep dasar materi pelajaran di SMP Laboratorium UNPATTI mengakibatkan ketidakpahaman dan berkurangnya partisipasi aktif dari siswa dalam proses pembelajaran khususnya fisika. Hal ini tercermin dalam rendahnya rata-rata tingkat respon siswa pada hasil pre-test, yang menunjukkan kurangnya keterlibatan aktif dan pemahaman siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan minat siswa, kegiatan pengabdian ini difokuskan pada pengenalan alat ukur dasar fisika dan penerapannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 34 siswa kelas 7 SMP Laboratorium UNPATTI, yang dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode CPDL (ceramah plus demonstrasi dan latihan). Selama kegiatan, siswa diajak untuk memahami konsep dasar alat ukur fisika dengan cara yang lebih praktis dan menarik, yang bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan pemahaman langsung dan relevansi materi pelajaran dengan kehidupan mereka. Evaluasi hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam respon dan minat siswa terhadap pembelajaran fisika, yang menunjukkan keberhasilan metode yang diterapkan dalam meningkatkan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam proses belajar

Abstract

Water plays an important role in human life, and one of the water resources that can be a source of clean water is groundwater or what is also called a spring. Therefore, the spring in Galao Village, North Loloda District, North Halmahera Regency, needs to be maintained and cared for. In this study, researchers tested water content using several parameters, namely hardness, TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), DHL (Electrical Conductivity), turbidity, and pH. The results of sample testing carried out in two laboratories showed a turbidity of 1.00 NTU and a pH of 7.145 which were tested at the North Halmahera Regency Environmental Service Laboratory. Meanwhile, the main parameters of hardness were recorded at 231 mg/l, TDS 391 mg/l, and DHL 521 μS/cm which were tested at the Manado Industrial Standardization and Service Center (BSPJI) Laboratory. Physically, the three main parameters, namely hardness, TDS and DHL are interrelated; Hardness is caused by contact between water and limestone in the soil layer through which water passes, allowing calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) to dissolve into it. In line with the cause of the presence of dissolved substances caused by weathering, dissolution of rocks and soil and other organic and inorganic substances dissolved in water, there is a relationship between Electrical Conductiv ity (ECP) and the ions contained therein, ions in water come from dissolved salts of alkali compounds, chloride sulfide dissolved in water. The purpose of this study is to determine the content of Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Electrical Conductivity (DHL), Turbidity, and pH contained in water.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis mekanisme korosi yang terjadi pada baja (SS 304) coating cat agatha paint pada medium 3,5% NaCl. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menggunakan SEM menunjukkan adanya lubang atau hole pada permukaan mikrostruktur baja (SS 304). Lubang yang teridentifikasi merupakan salah satu jenis korosi yang terjadi pada logam. Jenis korosi ini disebut korosi lubang atau pitting corrotion. Selain itu, pengujian menggunakan EDX menunjukan komposisi unsur yang dominan pada baja (SS 304) coating cat adalah karbon (C), oksigen (O) dan kalsium  (Ca) yang berasal dari lapisan cat dengan produk korosi yang terbentuk berupa Fe2O3. Nilai laju korosi  berdasarkan hasil uji polarisasi tafel adalah sebesar 0,0112 mmpy dengan nilai arus korosi (Icorr) sebesar 379,050 nA dan potensial korosi (Ecorr) sebesar -299,410 mV. Hasil ini menunjukan semakin baik pelapisan yang diberikan pada baja (SS 304) maka nilai laju korosi pada baja akan semakin kecil. Hal ini ditandai dengan adanya nilai arus korosi (Icorr), semakin kecil nilai arus korosi maka akan menyebabkan pergerakan elektron semakin terbatas sehingga membatasi pergerakan ion-ion korosif, dengan demikian nilai laju korosi pun akan semakin kecil.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis ukuran butir sedimen dan batuan serta distribusinya di muara sungai Wae Yame Desa Wayame Kecamatan Teluk Ambon Kota Ambon. Lokasi ini merupakan wilayah perairan transisi yang menerima masukan sedimen dari daratan dan laut, sehingga memahami karakteristik sedimennya penting untuk mendukung pengelolaan wilayah daerah pesisir. Hasil pengujian terhadap 12 titik sampel sedimen sungai Wae Yame menunjukan fraksi sedimen berupa pasir, pasir sangat halus, debu, kerikil dan batuan terdistribusi dengan tidak merata di setiap titik pengambilan sampel. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa distribusi fraksi pasir sangat halus tersebar di hampir seluruh titik pengambilan sampel dengan nilai berkisar antara 0,10 % sampai 6,91 %  dan nilai tertinggi berada pada titik ke 8, sedangkan distribusi fraksi krikil dan batuan sangat dominan pada semua titik lokasi pengambilan sampel dengan Persentase mencapai 0% hingga 100%. Persentase tertinggi fraksi kerikil dan batuan berada pada titik 12 dengan nilai berkisar 100%.

Abstract

This study aims to clearly describe the implementation of the National Science Olympiad organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Pattimura University Ambon and its impact on improving the quality of education. The focus of the research is the process of organizing the national science olympiad, and its impact on improving the quality of education. This study uses qualitative research. The data collection methods are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the National Science Olympiad involves elementary, junior high, high school, and vocational school students throughout Maluku with a total of 3,323 participants. The region, which is dubbed as a sea-based archipelago province, is not a barrier for students to compete to be the best. As a result, when students excel in a competition, the quality of education will be better. The supporting factors for the implementation of the National Science Olympiad are internal and external factors. Internal factors come from within students, while external factors come from the school environment and family environment. The inhibiting factors are the cost and location of the competition. Some of the implications of this research: Education Policy Design; Curriculum development; Teacher Training and Development; Increasing Student Participation; and Extracurricular Program Development. Research at the National Science Olympiad has made significant contributions to the following aspects: Development of Academic Knowledge; Improvement of Educational Practices; Support for Policy Makers; Motivation for students; and Strengthening Research Networks.

Abstract

A smartphone-based diffraction pattern experiment using a TV remote control has been successfully designed to estimate the width of a CD grating. This innovative experiment not only provides a hands-on learning experience but also has practical implications for physics education. A smartphone can be used as a screen to record and save diffraction patterns, and a TV remote control can be used as a source of infrared light. CDs can replace gratings, making the experiment efficient and accessible. The determination of the infrared wavelength of the TV remote control using a 300 line/mm grid and a 600 line/mm grid resulted in 946.67 nm and 859.33 nm, respectively. A positive linear relationship was found between the distance from the grid to the screen L and the distance from the centre light to the first light p, where the bigger L, the bigger p. Estimating the CD grating width using the infrared wavelength value of 946.67 nm, it was found that the CD grating width was 1632.19 nm. Furthermore, using a wavelength of 859.33 nm, it was found that the CD lattice width was 1481.68 nm, close to the actual CD lattice width.

Abstract

This study aims to test the elasticity properties and calculate the elastic modulus (Young's modulus) of natural rubber produced by Castilla elastica trees that grow naturally in Hila Village, Ambon Island. This plant is an alternative source of rubber that has not been widely utilized in Indonesia. The research was conducted using quantitative experimental methods in a laboratory where sap from the Castilla elastica tree was tapped, dried, and formed into uniform-sized rubber strips. Elasticity tests were carried out by applying gradual loads to each sample and measuring the increase in length due to strain. The results showed that rubber from Castilla elastica has high tensile strength but a relatively low elastic modulus, ranging from 5,416 to 16,263 N/m². This value is significantly lower than the elastic modulus of natural rubber from Hevea brasiliensis, which typically ranges between 0.32–0.42 MPa. The decrease in modulus with increasing load indicates the non-linear elastic behavior of the material. These results suggest that rubber derived from Castilla elastica is soft and has potential applications in lightweight elastic products. These characteristics indicate its potential utilization as a base material for the fabrication of lightweight elastomeric products such as flexible protective membranes, elastic adhesive coatings, soft sleeves or gaskets, and lightweight vibration-damping pads in mechanical systems.

Abstract

Maluku merupakan daerah kepulauan dengan kekayaan sumber daya alam yang melimpah, seperti gunung, pantai, hutan tropis, dan terumbu karang yang memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan sebagai objek wisata. Salah satu wilayah yang menjanjikan adalah Desa Rumahkay di Kecamatan Amalatu, Kabupaten Seram Bagian Barat. Desa ini memiliki potensi alam berupa hasil hutan, perkebunan, pantai, dan air terjun. Namun, potensi tersebut belum banyak diketahui masyarakat luas sehingga pengembangan Desa Rumahkay sebagai destinasi wisata masih kurang terpublikasi. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, dilaksanakan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) dengan tujuan menerapkan teknologi digital berupa GPS, Avenza Map, dan ArcGIS dalam pemetaan potensi sumber daya alam. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan peta informatif yang menunjukan potensi sumber daya alam Desa Rumahkay terutama objek wisata alam. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup sosialisasi, pelatihan pemetaan menggunakan GPS dan Avenza Map, dan survei pemetaan lapangan. Melalui pemetaan berbasis perangkat digital, berbagai potensi wisata alam Desa Rumahkay dapat terdokumentasi secara sistematis. Beberapa produk yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan ini meliputi peta jalur objek wisata alam air terjun yang menampilkan informasi grafis jalur tercepat menuju objek wisata alam tersebut serta peta fasilitas umum yang menggambarkan mengenai sebaran infrastruktur dan sarana pendukung yang tersedia bagi masyarakat maupun wisatawan. Adapun hasil evaluasi dari pelaksanaan kegiatan ini menunjukkan melalui metode pelatihan secara langsung (learning by doing) mampu secara signifikan meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat dan ketertarikan masyarakat terhadap pengembangan Desa Rumahkay sebagai desa wisata yang berkelanjutan.
