Abstract

This research was to find out: (1) the types of discourse markers used by the EFL students in argumentative text and (2) the functions of discourse markers used by the EFL students in argumentative text. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The respondents of this research were the second grade of EFL students; the total students were 30 students. The research data were collected by using an instrument namely writing activity. The writing consisted by argumentative text.  The data were analyzed qualitatively. The first important finding from this research was about the types of DMs used by the students? in three kinds of different text, there are 30 types of DMs used by the students in the comparison and compare text and the second important finding was there are four category of functions used by the students in writing activity, they were contrastive markers, inferential markers, elaborative markers, and additional subclasses markers. Despite the fact that DMs can create a smooth talk or make the conversation more natural, the students should be able to use DMs wisely in term of fluency and coherence measured in the students? writing.Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menemukan: (1) jenis pemarkah wacana yang digunakan oleh siswa dalam penulisan teks argumentatif dan (2) fungsi dari pemarkah wacana yang ada dalam penulisan teks argumentatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi kualitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas dua dengan jumlah siswa ada 30 siswa. Data dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan sebuah instrumen yang bernama kegiatan menulis. Dalam kegiatan menulis ini menggunakan teks argumentatif, Data yang terkumpul dari kegiatan menulis ini kemudian akan di analisa secara kualitatif. Hal penting pertama yang telah ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis pemarkah wacana yang digunakan oleh siswa dalam tiga jenis teks yang berbeda, bahwa ada 30 jenis pemarkah wacana dalam teks argumentatif, Hal penting kedua yang telah ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah ada empat fungsi pemarkah wacana yang digunakan oleh siswa dalam kegiatan menulis, yaitu pemarkah perbedaan, pemarkah kesimpulan, pemarkah uraian, dan yang terakhir adalah pemarkah tambahan. Meskipun kenyataannya bahwa pemarkah wacana dapat membuat percakapan itu menjadi halus atau membuat percakapannya menjadi lebih lazim seperti kebiasaan, siswa seharusnya juga dapat menggunakan pemarkah wacana dengan bijak dalam kelancaran dan memperhatikan hubungan satu kata dengan kata lain dalam tulisan mereka.

Abstract

This research aims to know (1) whether the use of word wall technique is able to improve students? vocabulary mastery, (2) the students? interest to learn vocabulary by using word wall technique. This research was conducted at SMPN 4 Kajuara Kabupaten Bone academic year 2017-2018. The subject of this research consisted of 52 students of first grade. The design of the research was quasi-experimental design where the research used two group, they were experimental group and control group. There were 2 classes as a sample namely VII-A as experimental group (taught by word wall) with the total number of 26 students and VII-B as control group (without word wall) with the total number of 26 students. The researcher administered pre-test and post-test to both groups. The result of data shows that there an improvement and interest of using word wall technique toward the students? vocabulary mastery. Thre percentage of students? pre-test of experimental group was 19.34 and the score of post-test was 41.74. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) of this research is accepted. It means that the use of ward wall technique improves students? vocabulary mastery at the first grade of SMPN 4 Kajuara Kabupaten Bone.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) apakah penggunaan teknik dinding kata mampu meningktkan penguasaan kosakata siswa, (2) ketertarikan siswa untuk belajar kosakata dengan dinding kata. Penelitian ini telah diadakan di SMPN 4 Kajuara Kabupaten Bone tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Pokok persoalan pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 52 siswa kelas satu. Bentuk penelitian adalah berbentuk quasi-experimental dimana penelitian menggunakan dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok experimen dan kelompok control. Ada dua kelas sebagai sampel yakni, VII A sebagai kelompok ekperimen (mengajar dengan dinding kata) dengan jumlah 26 siswa dan VII B sebagai kelompok kontrol (tanpa dinding kata) dengan jumlah 26 siswa. Peneliti memberikan pre-test and post-test untuk kedua kelompok. Hasil dari data menujukkan ada peningkatan dan ketertarikan dengan menggunakan teknik didnding kata terhadap peningkatan kosakata siswa. Persentasi skor siswa sebeum diajarkan dengan menggunakan teknik dnding kata adalah 19.34% dan setelah mengajar dengan teknik dinding kata adalah 41.76%. Oleh karena itu, hipotesis altenatif (Ha) untuk penelitian ini diterima. Itu berarti bahwa penggunaan teknik dinding kata meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata siswa di kelas satu SMPN 4 Kajauara Kabupaten Bone.

Abstract

It is currently endeavored to try to learn science learning from an early age to children, especially in kindergarten. Learning is directed towards creative and critical thinking that is able to direct children's high order thinking skills. The community service program with the PKM-M scheme was carried out at TK PGRI, Palattae Village, Bone Regency regarding the problems of teachers as partners in teaching science in the classroom to make it easier and more interactive through the design of a science corner (Sci-Co). This service was carried out in three main stages, namely counseling, design, and dissemination of the Sci-Co design. Learning using Sci-Co will be able to make children more critical and able to analyze events or phenomena that are often encountered in a child's environment, such as rain. Even though this program is conducted online, it is able to build teachers' skills in presenting Sci-Co in a simple way, the result of the teacher's own creativity with less than one week of processing time at the same time the teacher claims that this Sci-Co will help him accommodate children's knowledge in learning so that it is more meaningful less than one hour.

Abstract

Desa Bungeng, Kecamatan Batang, Kabupaten Jeneponto, Sulawesi Selatan ini memiliki pantai yang memiliki keindahan yang eksotis yaitu Pantai Kassi Bumbung. Kawasan ini berpotensi untuk dijadikan sebagai salah satu lokasi wisata karena memiliki pasir putih, pemandangan yang indah, dan pusat kegiatan masyarakat seperti penanaman rumput laut. Kawasan ini merupakan daerah rintisan yang dilakukan oleh Mahasiswa KKN Tematik Desa Wisata Halal Angkatan I Universitas Islam Makassar. Untuk memperoleh informasi terkait Pantai Kassi Bumbung, mahasiswa melakukan observasi kepada sejumlah apparat desa beserta warga sekitar. Setelah mendapatkan izin, mahasiswa melakukan pembenahan area pantai. Kegiatan pembersihan dilakukan selama dua pekan untuk membersihkan daerah pantai dari sampah plastik. Setelah itu diletakan spot foto agar dan papan nama untuk Pantai Kassi Bumbung. Dengan dirintisnya Kawasan wisata tersebut diharapkan dapat berkembang menjadi desa wisata halan Sustainable Tourism agar dapat meningkatkan kehidupan masyarakat.

Abstract

During initial observations in June 2024 at UPT SPF SD Inpres Kera-kera, teacher performance was well identified from planning, implementation to learning evaluation. However, there are still gaps that make implementation less than optimal, such as the lack of innovation and new ideas for educational development. Ineffective principal supervision and poor communication also hamper teacher performance. The results of the study indicate that: 1) the influence of entrepreneurial competence of the principal on teacher performance with both aspects playing an important role in improving education in schools. 2) the influence of principal supervision on teacher performance is interrelated, this can be seen from the principal's supervision which includes planning academic supervision programs, implementing academic supervision, and following up on the results of academic supervision effectively playing a direct role in implementing teacher performance at school. 3). Knowing the influence between entrepreneurial competence and principal supervision has a positive and significant influence on teacher performance at UPT SPF SD Inpres Kera-Kera, with the results of the multiple linear regression hypothesis test obtained with a significance value of 0.003

Abstract

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing became a necessity, resulting in a shift away from traditional classroom-based learning and toward technology-based learning. This research aims to find out the integration of technology and challenges that teacher faced during online classroom. This research used descriptive-qualitative approach with 11 English teachers who teach at 8 Madrasah Aliyah in suburban area of Maros participated in the research. The instruments used to collect the data were open-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The findings show that teachers: 1) integrated technology by utilizing applications such as using WhatsApp Messenger and Google Classroom in the teaching and learning process, 2) teaching English language skills by providing materials in the form of voice notes, videos, files, and photos, 3) presented the materials in attractive manner, 4) collaborated on teaching materials from various internet sources. However, the integration of this technology was still not optimal, such as the absence of face-to-face virtual interactions, the lack of use of technology in understanding English skills, and non-specific sources of materials. The lack of integration of technology experienced by teachers was caused by the challenges they faced, such as: technological inhibition, infrastructure limitation, disturbance in execution, state of mind, and hiatus between people.

Abstract

Background: Poor parenting in the family is one of the causes of inadequate nutritional intake, contributing to stunting. Stunting is a chronic malnutrition condition occurring in the first 1000 days of life, leading to delays in brain and physical development. According to the Ministry of Health, stunting is defined as a z-score less than -2SD and severe stunting as less than -3SD. Objectives: To determine the influence of parental parenting on the incidence of stunting in toddlers at the Pantoloan Community Health Center, Palu City. Methods: This case-control study involved 144 toddlers (72 stunting cases and 72 non-stunting controls) selected through purposive sampling. The total population was 947 toddlers. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: There was no significant relationship between the type of parenting style and stunting incidence (P = 0.335, OR = 1.600). Similarly, no significant relationship was found between parenting methods and stunting incidence (P = 0.085, OR = 1.183). Conclusions: Parental parenting style and methods were not significantly associated with stunting incidence among toddlers at the Pantoloan Community Health Center, suggesting the need to explore other contributing factors.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the public speaking skills of MA Ulul Albab Makassar students. The activity method applied was a participatory method, in the sense that the implementation of the activity emphasizes active student participation, involving teachers and stakeholders at school. The activity was carried out in February 2025 with several stages, including; observation, participant recruitment activities, implementation stages, public speaking practice and evaluation. The output of this activity has a significant impact on improving students' public speaking both in terms of hard skills and soft skills. Students' hard skill abilities were seen from students' verbal abilities, stage mastery, and interactive aspects to the audience. Improvement in soft skills was measured from the aspect of material that has Pancasila character content and local wisdom values ​​of the Bugis-Makassar community, as well as aspects of students' attitudes and behavior both in and outside the classroom.

Abstract

Besar dan jayanya negara-negara di dunia tidak terlepas dari keberhasilan dan aktivitas negara-negara tersebut di dalam hubungan bisnis internasional. Kenyataannya ketentuan perjanjian internasional yang bertujuan menciptakan efesiensi, konsistensi, dan koherensi dalam unifikasi dan harmonisasi hukum perdagangan internasional sudah tidak memadai menyangkut transaksi elektronik, pemberian kredit yang dikaitkan dengan perjanjian baku dalam pelaksanaan fungsi bank sebagai penerima dan penyedia dana. Akibat tuntutan masyarakat yang dinamis dan sangat cepat berubah, maka diperlukan suatu model atau rujukan dalam pembangunan hukum perdagangan internasional, misalnya hak untuk memilih dan hukum yang berlaku dalam suatu perjanjian (Choice of  Law) yang diharapkan akan mampu menjadi instrumen harmonisasi hukum.

Abstract

Menulis adalah keterampilan hidup, menjadi dasar bagi orang lain untuk menilai pembelajaran, nilai-nilai, ide-ide, dan kontribusi terhadap masyarakat. Di dalam lingkungan kampus, salah satu keterampilan yang harus dipelajari adalah menulis akademik, menulis akademik berupa tulisan jelas, terfokus, dan terstruktur yang didukung oleh bukti-bukti. Menulis akademik juga penting terkait dengan karir di masa depan karena sebagian besar pekerjaan memerlukan keterampilan menulis akademik yang kuat, dosen wajib membekali mahasiswa untuk menjadi seorang penulis profesional agar memudahkan mahasiswa memasuki dunia karir. Untuk mengatasi kesenjangan tersebut, tim pengabdian mencoba untuk mengadakan pelatihan ARIES untuk membantu mahasiswa dalam pengembangan menulis akademik. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pemaparan materi, praktik aplikasi ARIES dan Focus Group Discussion. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan selama pelatihan ARIES, pengetahuan mahasiswa bertambah, respon positif sesudah pelatihan juga tampak dari hasil Focus Group Discussion, mahasiswa secara aktif berdiskusi dengan narasumber, selain itu juga terbentuk keyakinan diri mahasiswa untuk melanjutkan pelatihan menulis akademik secara mandiri.
