Abstract

This research addresses the challenges faced by class X-2 students at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Jawami Cileunyi, Bandung, characterized by low proficiency in speaking Arabic. This issue stems from students' perception that Arabic is difficult and monotonous, compounded by the limited use of diverse teaching media during Arabic instruction. To overcome this, the researcher applied a cooperative learning model of the Team Game Tournament (TGT) type, incorporating Kokami media. The study aimed to evaluate students' Arabic speaking skills before and after implementing this model and to analyze the level of improvement achieved. In this study using a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design, the findings revealed that students' initial speaking skills were low. However, after employing the TGT model with Kokami media, their speaking skills improved significantly, reaching an average score of 76.85, categorized as good (70-79). The improvement rate of 0.05 or 50% indicates a moderate enhancement level. These results underscore the effectiveness of integrating cooperative learning with engaging media in improving speaking skills. The study implies that innovative teaching strategies can address motivational and skill-related barriers in language learning. Future research should explore the long-term effects of similar models, adapt them for other language skills, and investigate their application in diverse educational contexts to refine further and generalize these findings.

Abstract

This study explores the concept of “qudwah” in Islamic education and its relevance to teacher personality competence, particularly regarding role modelling. The research focuses on the crucial role of teachers in education, where role modelling is considered a key indicator of personality competence. In Islamic education, “qudwah” refers to the exemplary behaviour teachers should embody, significantly influencing students. The methodology is a literature review, analyzing primary and secondary sources related to “qudwah” and teacher personality competence. This research aims to elucidate the meaning and application of the “qudwah” concept and assess its implications for teacher personality competence. The findings reveal that “qudwah” dramatically impacts students’ perceptions and emulation of their teachers. Good role modelling by teachers reinforces educational values and aids in students’ character development. The implications of these findings underscore the need to integrate the “qudwah” concept into teacher training and professional development to enhance personality competence. Recommendations from this study include improving the understanding and application of the “qudwah” concept within education curricula and teacher training programs so that teachers can provide effective role models and create a more inspiring and productive educational environment. This research contributes not only theoretically but also practically to supporting and strengthening the role of teachers as the main pillar in quality education, particularly in the context of Islamic education.

Abstract

The gap in research on Arabic language interference in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) lies in the predominant focus on formal classroom contexts, while understanding of its manifestation in daily informal communication remains limited. This study addresses this gap by investigating interference from Indonesian into Arabic during non-classroom interactions among female students (santri putri) of the Modern Robithoh Islamic Boarding School in Bandung. Using an intrinsic qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed interactively. The findings reveal phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic interference, influenced by first language dominance, limited Arabic proficiency, psychological factors, and the sociolinguistic environment. These interference patterns negatively affect fluency and accuracy in Arabic. In response, the boarding school implements language development and immersion programs. This study highlights its novelty by exploring interference in the informal domain and recommends broader comparative studies and the integration of digital media to enhance communicative competence.
