Abstract

Penerapan konsep kimia hijau dan tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (Sustainable Development Goals) dalam pembelajaran kimia menjadi sangat penting untuk menghadapi tantangan global saat ini, seperti pemanasan global dan kerusakan lingkungan. Kajian literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi prinsip-prinsip kimia hijau yang dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam kurikulum pendidikan, sehingga meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang dampak kimia terhadap keberlanjutan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah narrative literature review yang mengumpulkan dan menganalisis berbagai sumber literatur terkait penerapan kimia hijau dan SDGs dalam pendidikan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi prinsip-prinsip keberlanjutan dalam pembelajaran kimia tidak hanya mendorong praktik pendidikan yang inovatif dan interdisipliner, tetapi juga memungkinkan pendidik dan peserta didik untuk berkontribusi secara aktif dalam menciptakan solusi berkelanjutan. Dengan demikian, pengembangan kurikulum yang relevan sangat diperlukan untuk memastikan generasi mendatang lebih sadar akan isu-isu keberlanjutan.

Abstract

Ulap Doyo is a traditional woven fabric of the Dayak Benuaq tribe in East Kalimantan. Ulap Doyo is made from doyo (Curculigo latifolia) leaf fibers with the base color of whitish cream. Natural dye is used to create patterns. Ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) leaves contain tannins that can be used as natural dyes. This study aimed to determine the color change of doyo leaf fibers dyed using aqueous ketapang leaf extract. The natural dye was extracted by decoction technique with distilled water as solvent. Tannin content was analyzed using phytochemical tests and permanganometric titration. The dyeing process used the dye bath technique at 92°C of dyeing temperature, 1:100 (w/v) of MLR, and 135 minutes of dyeing time. Before dyeing process, the extract and fibers were treated using 5 mL of 1 M acetic acid (AA) and 5 mL of 1 M ammonia (Am). The color change of the dyed fibers: untreated fiber - untreated extract (UF-UE), treated fiber - untreated extract (TFAA-UE, TFAm-UE), untreated fiber - treated extract (UF-TEAA, UF-TEAm), and treated fiber - treated extract (TFAA-TEAA, TFAm-TEAm) were measured using ImageJ application and shown in term of ∆I. This research results shows that the extract was dark brown solution with 0,280 ± 0,001 % (w/w) of tannin content. The color shade of the dyed doyo leaf fibers is pale brown to brown. The treatment of the extract using acetic acid (UF-TEAA) produce the highest colour shade and ∆I value. This study shows that the ketapang leaf extract can be used as dye for ulap doyo. Abstract

This paper presents the synthesis and characterization of calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CSH)-supported titania (TiO2) catalysts and their application in the environmentally friendly oxidation of styrene to benzaldehyde using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as the oxidant. The study explores the catalyst's structure-activity relationship, emphasizing the importance of mesoporous materials for enhanced catalytic performance. The CSH-Titania catalysts were synthesized using fish bone-derived CSH as a support, which aligns with green chemistry principles. Characterization techniques such as Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis confirmed the successful impregnation of titania and its catalytic efficiency. The catalysts exhibited high selectivity for benzaldehyde, achieving up to 49.45% conversion of styrene, with benzaldehyde as being the main product. The research highlights that the catalyst’s performance decreased after calcination due to a reduced surface area and pore volume, yet it maintained recyclability across three cycles with minimal  lose  in selectivity loss. Overall, this study introduces a cost-effective and sustainable approach to styrene oxidation, demonstrating the potential for industrial application in producing high-value chemicals with minimal environmental impact. Abstract

Laboratorium kimia memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran praktikum yang aman, efektif, dan bermutu. Pengelolaan laboratorium di Sekolah Menengah Atas dan Kejuruan (SMA/SMK) Kota Samarinda belum sepenuhnya sesuai dengan standar operasional prosedur karena keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan tenaga pengelola. Kegiatan pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi manajemen laboratorium dan keterampilan dasar kerja laboratorium kimia bagi para pengelola laboratorium di lingkungan SMA/SMK. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan workshop dengan kombinasi sesi teori, diskusi interaktif, dan praktik langsung. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pemahaman peserta terhadap aspek manajemen penelolaan laboratorium, seperti aspek pengetahuan keselamatan, kesehatan kerja laboratorium (K3L), aspek pengetahuan standar operasional prosedur laboratorium (SOP) dan aspek pengetahuan pengelolaan alat dan bahan laboratorium kimia. Peningkatan pengetahuan manajemen pengelolaan laboratorium dari 68% menjadi 85%. Diskusi dan praktik juga memperkuat keterampilan teknis dasar dalam laboratorium kimia meliputi aspek perhitungan dasar kimia dan aspek teknik penggunaan alat. Diperoleh peningkatan teknik keterampilan teknis dasar dalam laboratorium kimia dari 54% menjadi 74%. Kesimpulannya, pelatihan ini dapat meningkatkan kapasitas pengelola laboratorium kimia, serta diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas layanan laboratorium dan ketercapaian pembelajaran kimia SMA/SMK di Kota Samarinda. Chemistry laboratories support safe, effective, and quality practical learning processes. Laboratory management in Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools (SMA/SMK) in Samarinda City is not entirely by standard operating procedures due to management personnel's limited knowledge and skills. This training activity aims to improve laboratory management competency and basic laboratory chemistry work skills for laboratory managers in SMA/SMK environments. The implementation method uses a workshop approach combining theory sessions, interactive discussions, and direct practice. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of aspects of laboratory management, such as aspects of laboratory safety and occupational health (K3L) knowledge, aspects of laboratory standard operating procedures (SOP) expertise, and aspects of knowledge of chemical laboratory equipment and materials management increased understanding of laboratory management from 68% to 85%. Discussions and practices also strengthen basic technical skills in chemical laboratories, including basic chemical calculations and equipment use techniques. Increased basic technical skills in chemical laboratories were obtained from 54% to 74%. In conclusion, this training can improve the capacity of chemistry laboratory managers and is expected to improve the quality of laboratory services and the achievement of chemistry learning in high schools/vocational schools in Samarinda City.

Abstract

Resistensi terhadap antibiotik konvensional memiliki tingkat kejadian yang cukup tinggi. Dibutuhkan pengembangan antibiotik baru salah satunya golongan senyawa peptida yang merupakan kandidat yang potensial sebagai agen antimikroba. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis peptida baru dan mengevaluasi aktivitas antimikrobanya. Peptida antimikroba dapat didesain menggunakan machine learning iAMPpred dengan menganalisis nilai tertinggi probabilitas antibakteri dan antijamur. Peptida disintesis secara kimia di laboratorium menggunakan metode sintesis peptida fase padat dan diuji aktivitas antimikrobanya dengan menggunakan metode dilusi untuk menghitung nilai Minimum Inhibitory concentration (MIC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan desain heksapeptida linear Prolin-Leusin-Lisin-Leusin-Fenilalanin-Fenilalanin (PLKLFF) memiliki nilai probabilitas tertinggi dengan nilai probabilitas antibakteri 0,87 dan probabilitas antijamur 0,91. Heksapeptida linear ini berhasil disintesis menggunakan metode sintesis peptida fase padat dengan rendemen sebesar 93,32%. Keberhasilan sintesis dikonfirmasi menggunakan spektrofotometer infra merah dan spektroskopi massa. Senyawa heksapeptida linear PLKLFF memiliki aktivitas antijamur/fungistatik sedang terhadap jamur C. albicans ATCC 10231 dengan nilai MIC 312,5 µg/mL dan tidak aktif terhadap bakteri E. coli ATCC 11229 dan S. aureus ATCC 6538.
