Abstract

Kesum leaves (polygonum minus huds) have many benefits. Kesum leaves contain useful compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, and phenolics which can protect against free radicals caused by UV rays and absorb UV rays. This study used the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. Absorbance was measured at a wavelength of 290-320 nm. The determination of the SPF value is based on the Mansur equation. The test results showed that the ethanol extract of daun kesum (polygonum minus huds) had SPF activity on methanol extract (22.803), 50% ethanol extract (20.0606), 70% ethanol extract (24.36), and 96% ethanol extract (25). ,8416) all belong to the ultra protection class.

Abstract

An antibacterial activity test has been conducted against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on silver nanocolloids gel biosynthesized using Alocasia macrorrhizos plant extract which contains phenolic derivative compounds : polyphenols, flavonoids and cyanogenic glycosides. The AgNO3 concentration used in the silver nanocolloid biosynthesis process is 0.05 M;0,10 M and 0,15 M. The silver nanocolloids was diluted in the amount of 50% from the previous concentration and innovated into a gel form (formula I, II and III) then tested on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The measurement of of the clear zone formed around the disc paper was carried out to determine it’s antibacterial activity. Only the third variation meet the requirements of the physical evaluation test results as a gel form. All concentrations of silver nanocolloid gel preparations can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria as shown in observations obtained by the average diameter of the inhibition zone for formula I of 12.55 mm, formula II of 12.64 mm and formula III of 12.71 mm which is the zone of resistance formed was induced strong category (10-20 mm). The significance value with the One way ANOVA test is 0.000 (p<0.05), means that the average value of each variation is significantly different.

Abstract

Kontaminasi bakteri dapat menyebabkan masalah pada kulit. Perawatan kulit dengan facial cleansing gel diharapkan mampu membersihkan serta mencegah kontaminasi bakteri area di sekitar wajah dan leher. Citrus ampblycarpa (Hassk) Osche mengandung terpenoid, flavonoid, polifenol dan alkaloid yang berpotensi menghasilkan aktivitas anti bakteri pada bakteri gram positif, yaitu Staphylococcus aureus. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan aktivitas antibakteri formula facial cleansing gel FGEE dan FGEA terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus. Kulit jeruk sambal diekstraksi menggunakan etanol 96%, lau dilakukan partisi berturut-turut dengan n-heksana dan etil asetat. Facial cleansing gel menggunakan fraksi etanol (FGEE) dan etil asetat kulit buah jeruk sambal (FGEA) sebagai zat aktif, dengan konsentrasi masing-masing: FGEE (F1:0,20%, F2: 0,35%, dan F3 0,50%), dan FGEA (F4:0,20%, F5: 0,35%, dan F6 0,50%). Penentuan aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi kertas cakram. Hasil pengujian aktivitas antibakteri melalui pengukuran daya hambat terhadap pertumbuhan S. aureus pada formula FGEE masing-masing sebesar 17,80 mm, 22,09 mm, dan 18,77 mm, dan formula FGEA masing-masing sebesar 12,77 mm, 17,06 mm, dan 12,90 mm. F2 menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri sangat kuat. Secara keseluruhan, FGEE dan FGEA menunjukkan sifat antibakteri sebagai penghambat potensial terhadap S. aureus dan berkontribusi pada penerapannya pada produk pembersih kulit wajah.

Abstract

Matoa (Pometia pinnata J.R. & G.FORS.) is a plant that is spread in several regions in Indonesia. This plant contains secondary metabolites that can dissolve in ethanol solvents such as flavonoids. The right type of solvent is very necessary to obtain maximum levels of active compound. This study examines the effect of ethanol solvent concentration on the total flavonoid content of fresh and dry leaves of the matoa (Pometia pinnata J.R. & G.FORS). Extraction was done using the maceration method with 70%, 80%, and 96% ethanol solvent. The determination of total flavonoid levels was carried out using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method and AlCl3 as a reagent. The results showed that the total flavonoid content of 70%, 80%, and 96% ethanol extract of fresh matoa leaves were respectively (2.539±0.1047 mgQE/g), (1.885±0.0202 mgQE/g), (1.320±0 .0669 mgQE/g) and dried matoa leaves were (1.110±0.0448 mgQE/g), (0.870±0.0096 mgQE/g), (0.539±0.0130 mgQE/g). Based on statistical tests using the Kruskal-Wallis Test, differences in solvent concentration provide significant differences (p<0.05).

Abstract

Karies gigi merupakan salah satu penyakit yang sering terjadi pada masyarakat yang diawali dengan terbentuknya plak gigi. Pencegahan karies gigi secara alami yaitu dengan menggunakan tumbuhan yang mengandung senyawa antibakteri. Buah nanas mengandung enzim bromelin, saponin, flavonoid dan tanin yang berkhasiat sebagai antibakteri. Pemanfaatan buah nanas sebagai produk nutrasetikal masih dirasa kurang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sediaan gummy candy yang dapat dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat secara praktis dan menarik. Gummy candy dibuat dalam 3 formulasi dengan variasi konsentrasi jus buah nanas sebagai zat aktif. Jus buah nanas dibuat dengan menghaluskan daging buah nanas hingga menjadi jus. Pengujian sifat fisik gummy candy meliputi uji organoleptis, uji keseragaman bobot, dan uji hedonik yang kemudian hasilnya dibandingkan dengan persyaratan dalam literatur. Selain itu, juga dilakukan pengujian gummy candy jus buah nanas terhadap bakteri penyebab plak gigi. Dari hasil yang diperoleh, jus buah nanas dapat diformulasikan menjadi produk nutrasetikal yang baik dalam sediaan gummy candy serta memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri penyebab plak gigi

Abstract

Hard Candy merupakan sediaan penghantaran obat melalui mukosa rongga mulut dengan efek lokal dan sistemik. Jahe merah merupakan tanaman herbal yang dikenal dengan memiliki banyak khasiat, salah satunya antiemetic, kandungan gingerol dan shogaol yang memberikan rasa pedas dan aroma yang khas. Lemon selain kaya vitamin C juga mengandung antioksidan. Sereh memiliki banyak kegunaan dengan kandungan minyak atsiri yang dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi mual muntah dan masuk angin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui parameter fisik sediaan, seperti uji organoleptik, uji pH, uji keseragaman bobot, uji kadar air dan tingkat kesukaan hard candy. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan perbandingan ekstrak jahe merah (10:15:20). Analisis yang dilakukan adalah uji organoleptik, uji pH, uji keseragaman bobot, uji kadar air dan uji hedonik. Hasil uji organoleptik hard candy memberikan warna merah muda dan merah, rasa agak pedas dan pedas. Uji pH menunjukkan pH tertinggi yaitu formula 1 dengan nilai pH 3.71. Uji keseragaman bobot didapatkan ketiga fomula memenuhi persyaratan. Uji kadar air menunjukkan hasil pengujian pada ketiga formula memenuhi spesifikasi dengan kadar air tidak lebih dari 3,5%. Berdasarkan hasil uji kesukaan panelis, formula 3 adalah hard candy yang disukai panelis.

Abstract

Background: UV lights are free radicals that can cause damage to the skin, such as redness, burning, pigmentation, and even cancer. Kenikir leaf purified extract (ETDK) and Tampoi fruit peel extract (EKBT) contain flavonoid compounds. Flavonoid compounds can be antioxidants and sunscreens due to the presence of chromophore groups that can absorb UV rays to reduce exposure to the skin. Objectives: This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity and the ability of sunscreen nano cream Purified extract of Kenikir leaves and Tampoi fruit peel extract. Material and metode: Nanocream is made with 3 ETDTK-EKBT combination formulas, II ETDK formulas, III EKBT formulas. The antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method and the sunscreen activity test using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method to calculate the SPF value of the preparation (Mansur's method). Result: The results showed that the nano cream formula had a strong antioxidant activity with the per cent inhibition of formula I 78.28%, formula II 68.49%, and formula III 73.00%. The activity test results as a sunscreen formulation of purified extract nano cream from Kenikir leaves and nano cream from Tampoi fruit peel extract had extra protection ability with a sun-protecting factor value of 7 while the nano cream formula combined extract with an SPF value of 10 gave the maximum protection category. Conclusion: nano cream have potential as antioxidants and sunscreens.

Abstract

Nutmeg is most often used as a spice and essential oil. Nutmeg seed essential oil is widely geared towards diseases caused by bacteria or fungi. The essential oil content of nutmeg seeds consists of myristic acid, trimyristin, and glycerides from lauric, stearic, and palmitic acids, which have activities as anti-oxidants, anticonvulsants, analgesics, anti-inflammation, anti-diabetes, antifungal and antibacterial. Propionibacterium acnes is a bacterium that plays an important role in the development of acne, and Candida albicans is the fungus that most often causes skin infections. The purpose of this study was to determine whether solid soap from the essential oil of nutmeg seeds as antibacterial and antifungal activity against the growth of Propionibacterium acnes and Candida albicans and what is the diameter of the inhibitory zone. This test uses the disc disc method with variations in the concentration of NaOH in solid soap. The concentration of NaOH in F1 is 45.21 g, F2 is 40.45 g, F3 is 35.7 g. The results of the inhibitory zone of Propionibacterium acnes at F1 of 16.67 mm, F2 of 13.421 mm, F3 of 17.91 mm, and in Candida albicans at F1 of 24.608 mm, F2 of 24.476 mm, F3 of 25.394 mm. This indicates that each formulation has antibacterial and antimicrobial activity.
