Abstract

The utilization of beds among the elderly, especially those with degenerative diseases, presents health and comfort challenges. To address these issues, this research aims to redesign elderly beds using a participatory ergonomics method at Madania Potonoro Nursing Home. By involving the elderly and caregivers in the process, the research findings highlight the need for bed improvements. The proposed design includes additional features such as a folding table, bookshelf, cane holder, assistive standing devices, and a drink holder, based on identified needs. Anthropometric dimensions, including Shoulder Width (SW), Height (H), Popliteal Height (PH), Elbow Height in Sitting (EHS), Elbow Height in Standing (EHS), Seat Depth (SD), and Maximum Grip Diameter (MGD), serve as guidelines for bed design. Analyzing these dimensions at the 5th, 50th, and 95th percentiles, adjustments are made to accommodate additional attributes or features on the bed. The recommended design not only provides optimal comfort and safety for the elderly but also improves their overall quality of life. This research emphasizes the importance of involving users in the design process to ensure solutions align with their needs and preferences.

Abstract

PT. IKI is a shipbuilding company owned by the Indonesian government engaged in production. Preliminary observations found that there was an imbalance in the workload received by each employee, causing employees to work beyond operating hours, sometimes also working outside the company's working days. Workload analysis is very important to calculate exactly how many employees are needed to complete all tasks in a part or department in the company. In this research was conducted to identify the workload received by employees of the plumbing department, and determine the number of employee needs based on their workload. This study uses the full time equivalent method to identify the workload received by employees and determine the number of employee needs based on their workload. The results of this study indicate that there is an uneven workload at one work station, where from the results of calculations using the FTE method it is known that the workload of employees 1 and 2 is classified as overload and employees 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 in the normal category. Based on the results of this study, the number of employees was increased, namely 2 people. So the optimal number of employees is 12 people. Another suggestion is for employees who experience an overloaded workload or an uneven workload at one work station, then some of the job descriptions for employees who have an overloaded workload are given to employees who have a normal workload.

Abstract

Efficiency in logistics distribution is an important aspect in improving the competitiveness of the company. UD. Gudang Telur is a company engaged in the distribution of chicken eggs located in Makassar City, facing obstacles in the form of irregular distribution routes and non-optimal utilization of transport capacity. Current distribution is carried out without paying attention to the distance factor and the location of the destination in a structured manner, so that the average transportation cost reaches Rp. 8,000,000. per month. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the distribution path of chicken eggs so that an optimal distribution route is obtained using the Saving Matrix method, this method allows combining several consumers in one route to minimize mileage and transportation costs. Case studies were conducted on six retailers with various travel distances and transportation capacity requirements. Based on the analysis results, the savings achieved reached 48.28% for mileage, from 163 km to 84.3 km, and 58.62% for transportation costs, from Rp 1,982,855 to Rp 820,428. These results show that the Saving Matrix method is effective in designing optimal distribution routes by considering transport capacity and distance traveled, as well as reducing significant operational costs.

Abstract

Workload is something that arises due to excessive activity demands. The workload is not proportional to the number of available workers because of the high target of pipe production while the number of workers is lacking so that human resources cannot work productively, especially in the production department at PT. Harapan Jaya Multi Bisnis. The purpose of this study is to determine the workload of employees in pipe production and determine the optimal number of workers. This study uses the Work Load Analysis (WLA) method to analyze the workload in determining the optimal number of workers. The results of this study after calculating the workload, it is proposed that the fixed cutting section is 2 people with a workload of 62.65%. In Branding, in real terms there is 1 person with a total workload of 11.73% and an average workload of 11.73%. After calculating the workload, it is proposed that the shooting section still be 1 person with a workload of 11.73%, because if additional workers are added, the workload will be too low. The time needed to complete the activity is 7 hours per day. After calculating the workload, Quality Control is proposed to be 1 person, because if additional workers are added, the workload will be too low, namely 7 hours per day.
