Abstract

Stress is associated with broad changes in blood and immune cell dysfunction, which are correlated with the spleen as a secondary lymphoid organ. Anthocyanin, a plant bioactive compound from purple sweet potatoes, has previously been reported to have a beneficial effect on stress response behavior. However, the limited studies evaluated anthocyanin's effect on blood profiles and spleen tissue under stress. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the effect of total anthocyanin extract (ANC) from purple sweet potatoes (PSP) on the blood profiles and spleen tissue of restraint stressed mice. A total of 20 male adult BALB/c mice were divided into control (CTRL), stress (STR), stress + ANC 10 mg/kgBW (STR+ANC10), stress + ANC 20 mg/kgBW (STR+ANC20), and stress + ANC 40 mg/kgBW (STR+ANC10). Restraint stress was applied two hours/day for 14 days. An automatic blood analyzer was used for blood profiling. Immunoblotting of caspase-3 and hematoxylin-eosin-stained histological slides were observed for spleen tissue analysis. Combination of STR and ANC treatment reduced the erythrocyte count, hemoglobin level, and leucocyte count. The ANC-treated groups had a higher percentage of lymphocytes and a lower percentage of granulocytes. The expression of caspase-3 declined among ANC-treated groups. Spleen extramedullary erythropoiesis, vacuolization, and white pulp involution were demonstrated in stress and ANC-treated animals. In summary, restraint stress modified the blood cell profiles and spleen tissue in the mice model. Further research is necessary to evaluate the mechanism of ANC during stress on blood cells and splenic tissue repair enhancement.

Abstract

Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai media transfer pengetahuan normatif, tetapi juga sebagai sarana pembentukan karakter spiritual peserta didik. Namun, praktik pembelajaran di sekolah masih dominan bersifat kognitif dan kurang menyentuh dimensi ruhani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran pendekatan tazkiyatun nafs (penyucian jiwa) dalam pembentukan karakter spiritual peserta didik melalui kurikulum PAI, khususnya dalam konteks Kurikulum Merdeka. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi literatur. Data dikumpulkan melalui sumber primer (Al-Qur’an, hadis, dan karya ulama klasik seperti Al-Ghazali, Ibn Qayyim, dan Al-Muhasibi) serta sumber sekunder (buku ilmiah, jurnal penelitian, dan dokumen kurikulum PAI). Teknik analisis data mengikuti model Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana, yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tazkiyatun nafs efektif dalam menumbuhkan akhlak mulia, kesadaran religius, dan kedekatan spiritual peserta didik dengan Allah Swt. Kurikulum Merdeka memberi peluang besar bagi implementasi nilai tazkiyah melalui pendekatan pembelajaran berpusat pada siswa, integrasi lintas mata pelajaran, dan penilaian berbasis refleksi spiritual. Namun, kendala masih ditemui, seperti keterbatasan kompetensi guru, padatnya beban kurikulum, serta kurangnya dukungan lingkungan keluarga dan masyarakat. Simpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi tazkiyatun nafs dalam kurikulum PAI merupakan kebutuhan mendesak untuk melahirkan generasi Muslim yang cerdas intelektual sekaligus kuat secara spiritual dan berakhlak mulia.

Abstract

Amidst the challenges of moral degradation in the digital era, Islamic education requires a holistic approach that goes beyond cognitive transfer to encompass spiritual dimensions. This study aims to analyze the role of the mursyid-salik as a moral educator through the lens of Islamic educational epistemology, particularly the integration of three approaches: bayani (textual), irfani (spiritual), and burhani (rational). A qualitative research method with a library research approach was employed to analyze classical Sufi texts (such as Ihya Ulumuddin and Al-Hikam) and contemporary literature. The findings reveal that the mursyid-salik synergistically combines these three epistemologies, with bayani serving as the normative foundation, irfani facilitating inner transformation through dhikr and spiritual retreats, and burhani fostering rational awareness. The moral development model comprises three stages: takhalli (self-purification), tahalli (embellishment with virtues), and tajalli (manifestation of divine values). These findings affirm that the mursyid-salik's approach offers a comprehensive solution to contemporary moral crises by integrating role modeling, spiritual experiences, and critical reasoning. The study concludes by recommending the integration of this model into modern Islamic education curricula, while acknowledging challenges such as public misconceptions and the digitalization of spiritual guidance.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau secara kualitatif dampak pemilihan hari libur terhadap efektivitas pembelajaran di Madrasah Aliyah Swasta (MAS) Manba’ul Huda Bandung. Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada perbedaan kebijakan hari libur antara tradisi lembaga Persatuan Islam (PERSIS), yang cenderung memilih Jumat, dengan kebijakan pendidikan nasional yang menetapkan Ahad sebagai hari libur. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam, kuesioner berskala likert, serta studi dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian meliputi kepala madrasah, guru, dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan libur Ahad lebih sesuai dengan kebutuhan sosial masyarakat sekitar, terutama dalam hal keterpaduan dengan kegiatan keluarga dan organisasi, serta memberikan kontribusi pada peningkatan kehadiran dan kesiapan belajar siswa. Sementara itu, libur Jumat dinilai memiliki nilai keislaman yang tinggi dan mendukung identitas kelembagaan, tetapi menghadapi tantangan dalam koordinasi dengan pihak eksternal. Analisis integratif menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dilema antara mempertahankan identitas religius lembaga dan menyesuaikan diri dengan tuntutan sosial-eksternal. Kesimpulannya, libur Ahad di MAS Manba’ul Huda lebih mendukung efektivitas pembelajaran secara praktis, meskipun libur Jumat tetap penting sebagai simbol nilai keislaman

Abstract

The antivenom for Malayan krait (Bungarus candidus) venom has not yet been available in Indonesia, leading to many fatal snakebite cases. Alternative treatment approaches using medicinal plants are needed to be explored. This study investigated the potential of medicinal plants’ natural bioactive compounds as toxic alpha-delta bungarotoxin protein inhibitors in B. candidus venom. The approach taken is using the 3D structure of the alpha-delta protein of bungarotoxin B. candidus predicted by SWISS-MODEL. Knapsack Family Database and PubChem were used for bioactive compounds datamining. ADME analysis and drug-likeness of the compounds were carried out with SWISS-ADME. Docking between alpha-delta-Bungarotoxin protein and bioactive compounds was carried out with Pyrx 0.9.5. Visualization of docking results was performed with PyMOL and Discovery Studio 2016 was used to evaluate docking interactions. The docking results showed that a compound with the potential inhibitor of alpha-delta bungarotoxin came from Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) with a binding energy ranging from -6.6 to -6.9. The compound with the best inhibitor potential, namely withanolide D, was seen from the stability of the interaction based on hydrogen bonding at three amino acid residues: THR59, SER62, and THR63. The evaluation is supported by the results of molecular dynamics simulations which show stability in almost all aspects. Our results suggest the potential for exploratory research in the field of bioinformatics related to bioactive compounds from herbal plants as an alternative to antivenom.

Abstract

Pandemic of Coronaviruses Disease-19 (COVID-19) negatively influenced the mental health particularly stress and eating disorder among medical students. Previous study focused on the relationship between stress and self-esteem or eating disorders. The link between self-esteem and stress-related eating remains underexplored in the post pandemic era. This study was purposed to evaluate the relationship between self-esteem and stress-related eating among medical students after pandemic of COVID-19. This cross-sectional study involved second and third year undergraduate medical students in Universitas Brawijaya during June – July 2022. A set of self-reported questionnaires included  Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) and Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire – Emotional Eating Subscale (DEBQ-E) for measure the self-esteem and stress-related eating respectively. The form was filled in through online media. Students with previous history of eating disorders before pandemic as well as incomplete questionnaire data were excluded from study. Spearman correlation was used for statistical analysis. Ninety-two students filled in the questionnaire, only 34 students met the inclusion criteria. About 64.71% of students had low self-esteem. High stress-related eating identified in 41.18% students, particularly females. Self-esteem negatively associated with stress-related eating among participants (Spearman’s rho = -0.424; p = 0.017). Higher self-esteem decreased stress-related eating. Future studies are necessary to explore the broad range of stress sources and its impact on eating disorders among larger population.
