Abstract

A company is developing a strategy for product introduction to a crowded audience. An effective promotional method involves endorsements by prominent figures such as celebrities and community leaders. The company utilizes its service, branded as Shipper, to deliver products. Pair Gram and a currently trending YouTuber serve as endorsers for the product. The endorsers in question are Fiki Naki and Dayana. However, disputes arose between the endorsers, leading to misunderstandings in the digital realm. This conflict resulted in many followers expressing dissatisfaction and unfollowing Dayana's account. The objective of the study is to analyze digital advertising's impact on brand credibility and consumer response to Shipper's products using ethnographic methods. The methodology involves detailed observation of social media data from Instagram, particularly the comment sections on Fiki Naki's endorsement content. The study's findings indicate that the brand credibility associated with Fiki Naki and Dayana received negative feedback from their followers in the comments. Followers perceived the endorsed products as inauthentic, viewing the videos as mere entertainment rather than genuine endorsements. The findings highlight two key concepts, consumer understanding of endorsement activities and the professionalism inherent in endorsement collaborations.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) studies how to make computers do the same or even better than humans. In the academic world, the convenience created by AI can only be separated from negative impacts if its use is balanced with an understanding of its users. Potential ethical violations in writing scientific papers lurk if AI is not understood with clear boundaries. Plagiarism, data validity, and personal data security are potential ethical violations among students when using AI in writing work. Responding to the existing concerns, the Research Group Media, Audiences and Socio-Cultural Systems of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sebelas Maret University held a workshop entitled Building Scientific Awareness: Artificial Intelligence in the Ethics of Writing Work among Communication Science Students at Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University. Targeting students who will enter the stage of writing their final project in the form of a thesis, Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University was chosen because it is a developing private campus that needs to be encouraged to achieve superior quality. In the workshop, students showed enthusiasm in following every material presented by the speakers. A survey conducted at the end of the session showed that students' understanding and experience could provide clear boundaries regarding the ethics of scientific writing in the era of AI technolog.

Abstract

Abstract

Understanding their impact on leadership dynamics is crucial as digital platforms become increasingly integral to political communication. This study systematically analyzes existing literature to identify key trends, influential authors, and prominent themes in the field. By employing quantitative methods, we assess the growth of publications related to social media leadership in political contexts, highlighting the evolution of strategies used by political leaders to engage with constituents. A comprehensive collection of 608 articles was gathered from peer-reviewed journals spanning a range of publication years from 2005 to October 2024 to clarify longitudinal trends thoroughly. The findings illustrate the relation between social media leadership and successful campaign outcomes, emphasizing the role of digital engagement in modifying public perception. Additionally, the review uncovers gaps in the current research, suggesting areas for future investigation, such as the ethical implications of social media tactics and the role of misinformation. This paper gives insights into a broader understanding of leadership in both the political and digital age, providing valuable insights for scholars, professionals, and policymakers navigating the complexities of social media in political campaigns.

Abstract

The research discusses media utilization and contents for supporting the internationalization, the consistency of internationalization policies at the macro-level (Ministry), mezzo-level (Directorate General), and micro-level (Sebelas Maret University or known as UNS), and the stakeholders' insights of the internationalization of Higher Education. The data were obtained through in-depth interviews and documentation, and a descriptive-qualitative analysis technique was used. The results showed that UNS utilized various media to support internationalization, namely visual media, auditory media, audiovisual media, and other new media. Media contents include academic information, international research collaboration, and intercultural activities. Policy consistency from macro to micro levels took place only at the activity level, whereas there is no consistency in the mission, strategies, policies, and programs. The stakeholders' insights varied from understanding internationalization entirely as a goal, strategies, activities, media, and intra-cultural dimension standardized at the world level until the internationalization dimension. The implication of this research is the need to harmonize policies at all levels of the organization. Besides, the content of the media should be adjusted to the indicators of internationalization.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a serious public health issue in Indonesia. One of the innovations developed to reduce the number of DHF cases is the implementation of Wolbachia-infected Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This study aims to describe and evaluate the health communication strategies used in the implementation of Wolbachia mosquitoes in Bontang City, East Kalimantan The study employs a qualitative case study design, using four Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with 32 participants, including community health volunteers (cadres, i.e. community health volunteers), household foster parents, sub-district officials, and health center staff. Thematic analysis was conducted with source triangulation to ensure data validity based on community perceptions, the socialization process, implementation challenges, and stakeholder support.. The results indicate mixed outcomes: positive acceptance was initially supported by trust in health workers, clear explanations of Wolbachia’s biological role, and active involvement of community volunteers; however, several obstacles reduced support, including ongoing dengue cases, perceived increase in mosquito populations, misinformation and hoaxes on social media, weak cross-sector coordination, and cadre turnover without transition. Discontinuous communication strategies weakened the effectiveness of health message delivery to the community. Strengthening risk communication, broader public campaigns, and routine cross-sector evaluations are needed to ensure the program’s sustainability.
