Abstract

This study investigates the adaptive strategies in the digital transformation of elementary education in Maluku, an eastern Indonesian region facing geographical and infrastructural constraints. The research aims to analyze how elementary schools respond to the imperative of educational digitalization in the disruptive era. Using a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and literature review. The findings reveal that although digital transformation is necessary and inevitable, it is hindered by limited technological infrastructure, uneven teacher readiness, and resistance to change. Nonetheless, some schools demonstrate adaptive innovations by utilizing available technology and engaging local communities in the learning process. These practices highlight that digital transformation is not solely dependent on infrastructure but also on the mental resilience and willingness of educators to embrace change. The novelty of this study lies in its contextual focus on remote island education and its emphasis on local adaptation as a key factor in successful digital implementation. The study recommends targeted teacher training, consistent mentoring, and improved access to digital resources to support sustainable transformation. This research contributes to social sciences and humanities by offering new insights into digital education strategies in marginalized and geographically isolated regions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of social exchange in shaping sustainable partnerships between vegetable farmers and customers within the agribusiness system in Wayari Hamlet. Using a qualitative approach and in-depth interview methods, this study identifies two main dimensions in the social relations of vegetable agribusiness: the associative dimension, which reflects cooperation, and the dissociative dimension, which reflects the potential for conflict or tension within relationships. The findings show that social exchange, in the form of mutual commitment between farmers and customers, serves as the main foundation for creating mutually beneficial relationships. Farmers provide high-quality and consistent products, while customers offer financial support and long-term loyalty. This relationship not only enhances the economic stability of the farmers but also strengthens social bonds within the community. The novelty of this study lies in its revelation of how social exchange, rather than merely market mechanisms, can serve as an effective strategy to build sustainable agribusiness partnerships. These findings provide significant contributions to the development of social sciences and the humanities, particularly in understanding the dynamics of social relations within community-based local economies. This study recommends the integration of social exchange principles in the design of sustainable agribusiness models and in community-based agricultural development policies.

Abstract

Maluku as an archipelago region contains cultural richness from various aspects by its indigenous people, especially local languages which are a means of conveying thoughts and ideas. Local languages themselves have institutionalized identity values within the indigenous people who adhere to them because reality shows that the language in question confirms its origin. The difficulty is the inability of society to adapt to the development of globalization without ignoring regional languages as local wisdom and identity. Of course this shows a shift to the point of language extinction, the existence of indigenous countries is also threatened due to the loss of identity as a marker of their identity. From the description of the reality of this indigenous community, strategic steps need to be taken, namely consolidating the local language (Alune) of Lohiatala Country which in the past was used to interact by ancestors into written form, this is because in the present it is generally unknown to the younger generation or school-age children. Furthermore, it is followed up by writing a dictionary of local language vocabulary so that it can be studied by the community today and in the future. This activity will be carried out through one of the Tridharma of higher education, namely Community Service with a verification method (confirmation of the writing of the definition of the local language per vocabulary accompanied by its meaning in Indonesian) against the results of the search that has been carried out in 2023, and the publication of the dictionary book "Bahasa Alune Orang Lohiatala" with ISBN

Abstract

The saniri institution is a traditional governance body in Maluku, particularly in Central Maluku, responsible for formulating village (negeri) programs, drafting regulations, electing the village head (raja), and overseeing the negeri government’s implementation of development initiatives. Despite its long-standing role and adherence by indigenous communities, concerns have emerged regarding its effectiveness in governance oversight. This study examines the implementation of the saniri’s control function in overseeing development projects in Lumoli Negeri, West Seram Regency. Employing qualitative research methods, findings reveal that the community, as represented by key informants, expresses dissatisfaction with the saniri’s supervisory role. Many perceive that development efforts have failed to meet expectations due to the saniri’s lack of oversight, resulting in underutilized infrastructure and facilities. This study seeks to identify the underlying factors that hinder the saniri’s ability to perform its control function and explore strategies to strengthen its governance role. Enhancing the saniri institution's effectiveness is crucial to ensuring that village development initiatives are successfully implemented and fully utilized by the community.
