Abstract

This study aims to examine and interpret the meanings and values embedded in jujur marriage as practiced by the Wewewa community. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions involving seven key informants selected purposively based on their cultural knowledge and social roles. Data were analyzed through stages of reduction, categorization, interpretation, and verification. The findings reveal that jujur marriage embodies three interrelated meanings: symbolic meaning, which reflects social status and respect for women; relational meaning, which strengthens kinship ties and social alliances; and spiritual-cultural meaning, which emphasizes the role of ancestors in sanctifying marriage. Furthermore, this tradition is underpinned by core values of responsibility, political legitimacy, cultural identity, familial solidarity, and religiosity. In conclusion, jujur marriage functions as an integrated cultural system that regulates marital relations while simultaneously reproducing indigenous values across generations, thereby sustaining the social structure and cultural identity of the Wewewa people in a changing social context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using interactive instructional videos on students’ learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education at the junior secondary school level. The research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory design and involved 88 seventh-grade students at SMPK St. Yoseph Freinademetz Kapan, East Nusa Tenggara, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a learning outcomes test and a questionnaire on the use of interactive instructional videos, and were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results indicate that the use of interactive instructional videos has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning outcomes (t = 35.319; p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the integration of interactive video media contributes to increased student engagement and improved understanding of Catholic Religious Education content. This study underscores the importance of utilizing digital media in religious education as a contextual and meaningful pedagogical strategy and provides practical implications for teachers in developing technology-based learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pandangan mahasiswa katolik di Kupang terhadap penggunaan AI dan otomatisasi, mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai teologi moral yang relevan dan menganalisis potensi konflik antara nilai-nilai tersebut dengan implementasi AI dalam kehidupan mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan jumlah informan utama 12 mahasiswa dan informan pendukung 2 dosen di Kota Kupang Nusa Tenggara Timur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memandang AI sebagai alat bantu yang bermanfaat untuk efisiensi akademik. Nilai-nilai teologi moral yang ditekankan adalah martabat manusia, keadilan social dan tanggung jawab etis. Konflik etis utama berpusat pada kekhawatiran tentang integritas akademik, resiko ketergantungan dan potensi penurunan pemikiran kritis dan interaksi interpersonal. Pandangan umum menunjukkan bahwa teknologi harus menjadi mitra yang mendukung, bukan menggantikan perkembangan manisiawi. Dengan demikian, penggunaan AI diterima dengan persyaratan etis. Diperlukan kerangka teologi moral yang kuat untuk memastikan bahwa AI digunakan dengan bijak, menjunjung tinggi martabat manusia dan mendukung kebaikan bersama sehingga sejalan dengan prinsip-prinsip katolik.
