Abstract

Cayenne pepper cultivation represents one of the most promising agricultural enterprises in the region, offering significant potential for growth and development. The objective of this study was to assess the level of knowledge and expertise among farmers engaged in the cultivation of cayenne pepper plants in Lapandewa Makmur Village, Lapandewa District, South Buton Regency. The population of interest in this study was the total number of cayenne pepper farmers in Lapandewa Makmur Village, which was 22 farmers. The sample was determined using the census method, whereby the total population was used as a sample in the study, namely 22 respondents. Data collection techniques employed observation, interview, and documentation methods using media in the form of questionnaires. This research is quantitative in nature. Data were processed using quantitative descriptive analysis using the class interval formula. The results indicated that the level of knowledge of farmers in cayenne pepper cultivation activities in Lapandewa Makmur Village was at a high level of knowledge category. This level of knowledge encompasses the following areas: seed procurement, land processing, planting, maintenance, pest control, harvest, and post-harvest. The farmers demonstrated an adequate level of knowledge regarding the processes of seed procurement, land processing, planting, pest control, harvesting, and post-harvesting. However, they exhibited an insufficient level of knowledge regarding the maintenance of cayenne pepper plants.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the extent to which human and physical capital are deployed in tofu processing micro-enterprises in Lambusa Village, Konda Sub-district, South Konawe Regency. The population under investigation comprises all individuals employed in tofu processing businesses in Lambusa Village. The sample was determined using the census method, namely by taking the entire number of the study population, so that the sample in this study was 33 people (30 employees and 3 tofu business owners). This type of research employs a quantitative approach. Research data were collected using survey methods, interviews, and documentation, with the assistance of media in the form of questionnaires. Then the research data were analyzed using the quantitative descriptive method, using the class interval formula. The findings indicated that human capital and physical capital in tofu processing micro-enterprises in Lambusa Village were notably high. This suggests that the existing capital is capable of providing and contributing to the maintenance and increase in tofu production. Human capital encompasses knowledge, expertise, abilities, and skills, each of which is generally in the high category. The human capital possessed by employees of tofu processing businesses is derived from the experience they have accumulated over the years working in tofu processing businesses. The physical capital of tofu processing micro-enterprises encompasses both working capital and fixed capital, both of which are typically classified as high.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the communication techniques of extension workers in counseling the use of organic fertilizers for farmers, and to know the knowledge of farmers in the use of organic fertilizers in Matabubu Village, Poasia District, Kendari City.This research was conducted in July 2023. The population in the study will be informants, because kale farmers in Matabubu Village amounted to 7 people, as well as 1 extension agent in charge of Matabubu Village. Data collection techniques consist of observation, in-depth interviews, documentation and literature. The focus of the research includes: extension communication techniques (informative communication, persuasive communication and instructive communication), farmers' knowledge during related extension (source/content of organic fertilizer, benefits of organic fertilizer, how to make organic fertilizer and use of organic fertilizer). The analysis used in this research is qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the communication techniques used consisted of informative, persuasive and instructive communication techniques that had been implemented by extension workers. As well as, farmers' knowledge in the use of organic fertilizer for kale vegetables in general have known, but the process of making organic fertilizer, farmers do not know

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of agricultural extension workers in the context of wet-rice farming in Teppoe Village, East Poleang Subdistrict, and to elucidate the relationship between the two. The research population consisted of all wet-rice farmers in Teppoe Village, amounting to a total of 250 individuals. A sample of 25 individuals was selected from the total research population, representing 10% of the total number of respondents. The data were collected via survey, interview, and documentation methods with the assistance of research instruments in the form of questionnaires. This study employs a quantitative approach. The research data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods, specifically the class interval formula and Spearman's rank correlation. The findings indicated that the role of agricultural extension workers in Teppoe Village, East Poleang Subdistrict, as facilitators was deemed to be satisfactory. However, their roles as motivators and educators were perceived to be inadequate, while their role as innovators was considered to be satisfactory. The performance of paddy rice farming in terms of productivity is in the satisfied category, while the sales price of paddy rice and farmers' income are in the moderately satisfied category. The relationship between the role of agricultural extension officers and farm performance was found to be statistically significant (value 0.031), though the strength of the relationship was relatively weak (value 0.363).
