Abstract

Chili pepper (Capsicum frustescens) is herbaceous plant from the family Solanaceae which is massively cultivated in Indonesia. It also can be used as raw material for food product and pharmacy industries. Organic fertilizer usage has been both a solution to increase productivity and a replacement to chemical fertilizer usage. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of compost tea organic fertilizer and JADAM Microorganism Solution (JMS) on the growth of chili pepper in PT. Cinquer Agro Nusantara, Bangka Belitung. This research used a completely randomized design with 15 unit treatments which were divided into control group, compost tea group, and JMS group. The result showed that the plant group with JMS performed the highest height expansion, increasing the number of leaves significantly compared to control and compost tea group. This study concludes that application of compost tea and JADAM Microorganism Solution (JMS) as organic fertilizer on C. frustescens can increase the plant’s growth. Keywords : chili pepper, compost tea, JADAM microorganism solution

Abstract

Destructive fishing practices and suboptimal tourism management threaten the sustainability of the underwater ecosystem and the welfare of the people of Pulau Pahawang Village. To overcome this problem, there needs to be an effort to revitalize ecotourism by commercializing productive community-based coral transplantation. This study aims to design and implement a community-based ecotourism revitalization program focusing on coral transplantation, waste management, and the development of sustainable ecotourism management. This type of research is community action research (PTM) with a participatory research design. The subjects of the study involved 50 members of the Pulau Pahawang Village community, consisting of 20 BumDes members and 30 Pokdarwis members. The data collection method used observation, interviews, and documentation. The instruments used were interview guides, observation sheets, and questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques to describe the changes that occurred in the community and ecosystem. The results of the study showed that this program succeeded in issuing 15 Business Identification Numbers (NIB) for local business actors, developing Seawalker rides, and improving sustainable waste management. This program also succeeded in increasing public awareness of the importance of environmental conservation and good ecotourism management. This study concludes that a community-based approach to ecotourism revitalization can improve community welfare and maintain ecosystem sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Sea urchins are susceptible to environmental changes, including ones caused by anthropogenic activities in coastal area. They are commonly found in coral reef areas, seagrass beds, and mixed sand and coral rubble substrates. These marine ecosystems face critical problem as a result of water pollution, thus affecting their ecological roles as habitats for sea urchins. Pahawang Island is located in the Lampung Bay area and has substrate characteristics that are suitable for the habitat preferences of sea urchins. On the contrary, Pahawang Island becomes famous tourist destination and this can potentially cause damage to habitats of sea urchin. The purpose of this research is to identify sea urchin species (Echinoidea) in the intertidal zone of Pahawang Island, Lampung. Methodology: Samples were collected using surveying method by walking along the intertidal zone during low tide. Sampling locations include Jelarangan Hamlet, Suwak Buah Hamlet, Andreas Resort around Kalangan Hamlet, and Pahawang Hamlet. Sea urchins were identified based on morphological characteristics. Findings: Sea urchins found in the intertidal zone of Pahawang Island consist of four species: Echinothrix calamaris, Diadema setosum, and Diadema antillarum, and Mespilia globulus. E. calamaris and D. setosum were found on substrates such as seagrass beds, coral, and sand, while Diadema antillarum and Mespilia globulus were only found in waters with coral substrates. These four species of sea urchins inhabit diverse habitats and play important ecological roles in the ecosystem, even influencing the conditions of other benthic organism communities in intertidal zone of Pahawang Island. Contribution: This study provides baseline data on sea urchin species within specific area to later plan conservation strategies related to human-induced environmental changes.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to investigate the effects of good corporate governance (GCG), corporate social responsibility (CSR), intellectual capital (IC), financial risk, and sharia financial performance using the circular causality model in Indonesian Islamic banking. Method – The research population consisted of Islamic commercial bank (ICB) published by Bank Indonesia from 2015 to 2020. Purposive sampling was applied to select 48 annual reports from various Islamic banks. These reports were analyzed through the circular causality framework by examining causal relationships between variables using simultaneous equations and the dynamic two-stage least squares (2SLS) method with EViews 9 software. Findings – The results indicate that GCG negatively impacts Islamic financial performance. Similarly, CSR negatively affects financial performance, whereas IC shows no significant effect. No bidirectional influence was found between GCG and IC. Likewise, GCG and CSR do not influence each other. Neither GCG nor financial risk showed mutual effects. CSR and IC were not significantly related, but CSR and financial risk negatively affected each other. There was no influence between IC and financial risk. Implications – This study offers theoretical contributions by applying the circular causation approach (TSR), providing updated methodologies and managerial insights, and supporting FSA in developing performance indices for Islamic finance based on performance size ratios.
